Photographed 24 February 2019 / Mamiya 6 Medium Format, folding rangefinder camera with Olympus D-Zuicko 7.5cm/3.5 lens. Film was ILFORD HP5+ metered ASA 200 developed in sodium carbonate version PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 50ml B > 600ml, 7min, 20*C). Negative was digitalised via a Pentax k3 DSLR and an EL-NIKKOR 63mm/2.8 enlarging lens. The image was edited on an iPad mini using the Snap Seed application.

Photographed May 2024 : I used a Kodak BANTAM-RF 828 format, 35mm film camera (Kodak Ektanon 50mm/3.9 lens). The film was FOMAPAN 400 non-perforated bulk stock metered ASA 125 and developed in PYROCAT-HD glycol version. The negative was digitalised via a PENTAX k3 DSLR and the image rendered on an iPad 9th Generation using the Snapseed application: full frame scan of the entire negative area without trimming.

testing my Gift Carl Zeiss Push-On GREEN FILTER on my HASSELBLAD 501CM 80mm f2.8 CFE Planar T*. I loaded with a 2016 dated FOMA PAN 100 which I processed in my Home-Made PYROCAT HD formula for 12 mins @ 20oC There is not a great deal of difference.

Photographed July 2018 / FED Zarya 35mm viewfinder camera with M39 - M40 adjustable adaptor & Meyer Optik Helioplan 40mm/4.5 (uncoated) lens. Film was Ilford PAN100 metered at ASA 80 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600ml, 5min 30sec, 20*C). Framing was done with a Leitz VIOOH set at about 40mm. Image scanned with a JUMBL scanner unit ; image processed & finished in Flickr. @ note the soft 'glow' typical of uncoated vintage optics produced by this lens.

Film was Rollei RPX 400 metered ASA 320 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600ml, 7min 10sec, 20*C). Negative was scanned with a Pentax k3 DSLR fitted with a Schneider Componon-S 80mm/4 enlarging lens on adjustable length helicoid extension tubes. The image was edited on an iPad screen using the Snap Seed application.

Shot on Rollei Infrared film with Bronica ETRSi, Zenzanon 50 PE, Hoya R72. Developed in Pyrocat HD 1:1:100 for 14 minutes @ 20°C, presoaked for 2 minutes.

 

Printed on 18x24 Fomatone 532 paper, developed in Ansco 70.

Photographed November 2017 / Braun PAXINA 29 camera with Bayreuth Praxanar 75mm/2.9 lens. ILFORD HP5 PLUS rated ASA 320 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600ml, 7min, 20*C). Exposure was 1/50sec @ f8 handheld.Negative was illuminated on a light box and scanned with an iPad mini using Film Scanner app. Image processed & finished in Flickr. I think a better film choice would have been ILFORD 3200 PRO (rated @ ASA 1000) as then I could have stopped the lens down to f16 and still used 1/50sec shutter speed.

Rollei RPX 400 rated ASA 320 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25 ml B > 600ml, 7min, 20*C) Negative was scanned to SD card in a JUMBL scanner box at 22MP. Image was processed & finished in Flickr. Notice the performance of this 40mm/2.8 sonnar lens! The photograph was taken through 3/4" of plate glass.

Chemistry:

3ml Fotospeed Argyrotype Sensitizer with 1 drop let-down Tween 20, applied with Daler Rowney Skyflow Aquafine 3" Synthetic Brush.

Paper:

Bergger Cot320 11x14", dried 15mins, 50%RH, 20ºC, then sandwiched in cut-down Crystal Clear envelope, with neg on top.

Exposure:

Lotus 12x16" contact-printing frame; full sun 3'40", 11:15am

Wash:

5mins wash in distilled water/squeeze of lemon juice

5mins wash in tap water

3mins wash in hypo

1hr final soak (30mins each side) in tap water

 

Dried flat between boards

 

Digitisation: Nikon D800E/85PC-E tilt-shift (two-frame stitch)

This is what the 85mm f1.8 is useful for, isolation of subject. Very pleasant not intrusive bokeh I think, no highlights to check though!

This was taken when the sun came through between snow showers.
