One of my first images with my new to me Deardorff 8x10. Love this camera. for this I used a 14" lens
Last week I made an early morning trip to Rock House, in the Hocking Hills. This was the first time I'd been there during the cold season, and I'm so glad I made the trip. Conditions were about 30 degrees colder than I would have liked, but the light snow covering frozen to the trees was a highlight to the morning.
I made a video about the trip you can watch here:

Cedar Falls has got to be my favorite place to visit in the Hocking Hills region. Today I'm heading back down there with my 8x10" Tachihara field camera and some Ilford Delta 100 B&W film. Last week we tested it in my developer of choice, Pyrocat HD and found a working ISO of 125. With those results we're putting it through its paces in gorgeous Southern Ohio.
Follow along the hike and watch the photographs made here:

Located outside of Bainbridge in Southern Ohio, Rocky Fork Gorge is a wonderful system of private and public owned nature preserves. There are miles to hike and kayak along this stretch of Appalachia as well as some gorgeous natural features.

What better way to test out an ultra large format camera than with a pet portrait? I've got a long dog, a long camera, and some long sheets of film, perfect pairing!
This portrait was way more involved than anything I've tried to do with large format before, but it was a lot of fun. ULF needs a LOT of light, and in the case of this portrait, there's 2400 Ws of flash power coming through the front door window to illuminate Zill (the greyhound). Focus wasn't too bad once she fell asleep, but with a 355mm f/9 focusing close, the depth of field was quite shallow.
