Photographed April 2024 / I used a Voigtlander 129 folding bed 129 format film camera with Voigtlander Anastigmat Skopar 8.3cm/4.5 lens in dial set Compur shutter. The film was ILFORD DELTA 400 120 roll film cut and re-spooled to 129 format. The scene was metered ASA 320 and the film developed in PYROCAT-HD (glycol version). The negative was DSLR ‘scanned’ and the image rendered on an iPad 9th generation using the Snapseed application.
Containing three miles of hiking trails, a deep (for Ohio) gorge, and plenty of wildlife, Conkle's Hollow State Nature Preserve is a location worth visiting and revisiting!
Once about 1/10 mile into the gorge trail, the paved trail becomes less obvious and the tress and rocks start to dominate the scene. Just before the turnaround point, the gorge trail winds into larger, naturally carved rock. A shorter hike than the rim trail, but exhilarating nonetheless.

Took another early morning trip, this time to Blackhand Gorge in Licking County, Ohio. Normally I would visit here for the gorge overlook, cool rock faces, and flowing water. When I arrived, the fog was calling my name!
I made a video about the trip you can watch here:

On the winding path from the Old Man's Cave trail towards Upper Falls, one can't help but be taken in by the Devil's Bathtub. The small, but powerful churning falls are a reminder that small changes over a long period of time can weather almost any material.
Setting up the 8x10 around these falls can be treacherous, so the angles to view it are limited. The top-down view I chose here is the safer bet, but those feeling extra brave can try below the falls for an even more interesting POV.

Photographed November 2018 / Rolleiflex 'Old Standard' TLR with Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 7.5cm/3.5 lens. Film was ILFORD 3200 DELTA PRO metered at ASA 800 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600ml, 8min @ 20*C). Negative was illuminated on a light panel and 'scanned' with an iPad mini using the Film Scanner app. The image was processed and finished in Flickr. (This image is the property of the photographer do not reproduce it without my consent). A remarkable moment; photographed at the instant the sun burned through the mist ....the light seemed to fold around everything even the darkest shadows were glowing with the first rays of the day; shivered and dissolved in light. Strange that the latest high speed film technology combines with old lens technology to enable photographs like this to be made with a handheld camera. When this Rolleiflex camera was manufactured (circa. 1934) such high speed films as ILFORD 3200 DELTA PRO were only dreamed of.
