"My God, Help Me to Survive this Deadly Love "is the title of this most popular mural on the Berlin Wall. The painting depicts Leonid Brezhnev (Russian President) and Erich Honecker(DDR President) in a socialist fraternal kiss, reproducing a photograph taken in 1979 during the 30th anniversary celebration of the foundation of the German Democratic Republic.

Everyone wants their photo taken in front of this mural. Sometimes there is small crowds lined up to get a photo. It is hard to get a photo with no one near this popular mural.

another reflection shot of the city skyline captured around the fountain in Olive Park in downtown Chicago...i am actually right in the middle of the fountain which is turned off during the cold season...some rain passed thru overnight so there were lots of puddles on the floor of the fountain area letting me have some fun comping reflection images...the bleak, gray weather and the mist hanging in the atmosphere almost made this frame look like i did a selective coloring treatment because the only colors noted here would be from the splash of yellow bushes but this is actually a SOOC image...if you guys haven't been to this park yet, you have got to check it out...it's not crowded with tourists, it's quiet, great view of the skyline and close to Navy Pier and Ohio Beach...pls. Puddle reflection of some buildings on the Muntplein in Amsterd@m

Ancient Roman Mausoleums And New City Behind it, All Reflected in Winter Puddle

this is the $7 million dollar beach house on one of the most popular spots along Chicago's lakefront, North Avenue Beach...the structure is actually designed and shaped like an ocean liner with blue and white paint color schemes...the building has an eatery, concession stands, a lifeguard station, rental stations for bikes, volleyball equipment, chairs and restrooms...this frame was captured on our night shoot meetup last saturday and you can see 5 of that night's shooters taking refuge for a bit from the cold wind that was howling that night...by placing my camera right on the pavement, i was able to get this really low pov and get some reflections in there as well...have a great night folks...pls. Wickedcool old BMW reflected in a puddle (not mine, I'm a bicycle-lover :)...I've posted a similar shot 1 1/2 years ago and it became my most 'Interesting' picture according to Flickrs calculations :)

I wanted to see if I can recreate this effect by posting a shot (taken on the same day) that is just slightly different...and I also wanted to make you aware that I've entered the 'METRO Global Photo Challenge: Urban Jungle' with 5 of my wicked reflection shots, go and vote for me, or something ;-))

Here is the shot from last year!

A church and a biker in a foreign country, reflected in a puddle...

Me& a couple of million of Dutch people went to a foreign, neighboring country with a slightly different approach towards Christmas last weekend and it was very nice, lots of food that you can't buy in the Netherlands and tons of new smells, sights&sounds (well, the sounds not so much, Dutch was spoken almost anywhere in the streets, it almost felt like being at home far away from the best city in the world) :))

Have a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy 2009!

Reflections on a puddle

One must have a reason for reflection

an eye to admire variations.

And only so many days can fulfill a day

in which one can be

close to that April sky

with sight of it beneath.

This requires an understanding

a reason without, an inward nature,

a spontaneous glance.

just another puddle reflection shot captured at the Crown Fountains in Millenium Park in Chicago...i was actually on my way over to the Bean for the lights show last February and decided to stop by the fountains for some twilight shots...i really like shooting long exposure images at very odd angles as this usually gives the viewer a unique and different look at something that people see and walk by everyday...hope you all have a great night...pls. The 'Mozes en Aäronkerk' Church at the Waterlooplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle.

Shot with a SonyEricsson S700i mobile phone cam. No editing (I might have added some contrast&saturation, but I don't remember), no Photoshop, no tricks :)

This photo made it to the Flickr 'Explore' page, yay!

Today I decided to take my 'real' cam for a spin in the mean streets of the best city in the world, knowing that there are puddles and sunshine outside, and this was the first puddle I stopped at, drooling from the idea of finally getting some hi-res quality reflection shots...but when I turned on the cam it said 'Internal memory full'....stoopid me, I forgot the memory card at home, inside my PC :D

Since I've been planning on buying a new SDHC card anyway, I figured I'll just take this opportunity to go and get one, but then it turned out I was way too lazy to go to the shop and come back, so I whipped out Mobie and shot this wicked reflection old school style, and as you can see, Mobie still rules :))

Have a nice, sunny weekend!

P.s. As you might have noticed, lately I'm just repeating myself, taking the same pics I took one year ago around this time, I hope that doesn't bother you too much, hehe ;-P

Shot at the top deck of the Elevador de Santa Justa looking towards the Comvento do Carmo - a rainy but lovely March afternoon in Lisbon.

The 'Santa Justa' lift was inaugurated on the 10th July 1902 and it is the only vertical lift in Lisbon for public service. It was built by the architect Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard and has a cast iron structure, enriched with filigree details. In 2002 it was classified as a National Monument. From: www.carris.pt.

"Blowhard hut was originally built for tourism, by the Victorian Tourist Board. As time went by, skiing became a greater passion and it was converted for this use.

Today, the hut is locked." " Built with corrugated iron walls and roof. The roof has a high gable and an unusually large skillion. Extended in the 1980s."

Harbour Centre is a notable skyscraper in the central business district of Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The "Lookout" tower atop the office building makes it one of the tallest structures in Vancouver and a prominent landmark on the city's skyline. With its 360-degree viewing deck, it also serves as a tourist attraction, offering a physically unobstructed view of the city.
