So this was one of three protests that was going on during my walk three blocks to pick up lunch. At one point two of the protests met on the street and one had to wait for the other to turn before they could continue.
They are very interesting to watch (and hear from the office where I work) as they use firecrackers and drums to make as much noise as possible to draw attention to their cause. I am not sure what this one was protesting, but it is a daily occurence on this street.

The protesters were objecting to the fact more and more parts of the public sphere in Israel are closed to women, and to the fact the army recognizes demands that women not sing in the presence of (Jewish-Orthodox) male soldiers.

I directly realized what they were protesting (and getting people to sign a petition for) but as you can see there were quite a few faces in the crowd that just thought these were some goofballs dancing in the street.

I was stunned, overwhelmed, and astonished by the protest at Shahbag. Within minutes I was engulfed by the spirit, energy, and excitement of the crowd there, immediately drawn in the public's desire to get "proper" justice. The environment was phenomenal--there were people from all backgrounds, ages, and religions--and the air was electric with the slogans, optimism, and hopefulness of the crowd.
The country has finally united against an enemy that has burdened it with corruption and hatred even before it was born.

There were two protests at the same time at the same place. First came about 200 protestors who wanted to close borders after terrorist attacked and stabbed several people in Turku, Finland. It was first terror attack in Finland's history.
After a while came antifascist protestors who didn't inform in advance they were coming. Some of these protestors shouted "We don't want nazis here, fuck you nazis!" to people who wanted to close borders.
