Member of protest group meditating to in crease awareness of Chinese government oppression of minority groups
It was the 14th day of continuous, round-the-clock, still peaceful protest demanding the resignation of the government, but the authorities were already preparing to use force and destroy the Maidan. Everyone began to talk about the arrival of a special unit from Russia in Kyiv. Tension grew with each passing day. Opposition parties held fruitless negotiations with Yanukovych.
Orgreave campaign annual rally, Sheffield.
The Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign includes ex-miners, Trades Unionists, activists and others who are determined to get justice for miners who were victims of police lies and cover ups at Orgreave in June 1984.
I could relate to this woman obviously.

Nothing can heal you; your wound is fatal. All who hear the news about you clap their hands at your fall, for who has not felt your endless cruelty?

Hi,
Recently Flickr did a remodel of the site and it was VERY poorly done. I am hoping to get at least 10,000 signatures to turn into Marissa Mayer. Please share this with all your friends! We need this to go viral.
That's why I signed a petition to Marissa Mayer, CEO, which says:
"We ask you to please change Flickr back to its old style. The new style is incredibly poorly done and we had no chance to opt out or even pick between the new and old style."
Will you sign the petition too? Click here to add your name:

On our last visit to Hong Kong, there was street fighting just near our Hotel. this van was in the wrong street, at the wrong moment and paid the penalty.
this guy was nuts-ing out to the music. i have my doubts as to the sincerity of many of the people camping out at the "protest" Occupy LA movement. many seemed to be the same people; bums, transients, homeless, mentally ill, that live on the streets. here they had free food and free sleeping bags.
what's a big gay event without super christian crazy protestors?
the ara was there too, to protest the other protestors
Shortly after my stint in the Army in '71, I did what I could to protest the war in Viet Nam and made the New Orleans' Times Picayune newspaper, even though they misinterpreted my motive. I remember having to stand on the hand railing to reach the top of the letters!
Yep, I was a wild and crazy guy... ;)
It is the last meet between the eastbound and westbound "Canadian" in Winnipeg. While it wasn't the -50 windchill of the previous week it was still damn cold: nevertheless, crowds turned out to protest, greet family either working the trains or riding them, and even to witness the glamorous cruise trains roll into history. I walk the length of the train, out from under the (relatively) warm train shed to photograph our power, VIA Rail FP9A number 6307, using a used Yashicamat TLR medium format camera. Two classics, face to face...
In a few days a "new" Canadian will depart Toronto and head to Vancouver via Edmonton instead of Calgary. Don't be fooled: today's "Canadian" is a rebranded "Super Continental" although it does, thankfully, utilize former Canadian passenger cars (ex-Canadian Pacific Budd-built fluted stainless steel cars, instead of the Super Continental's former Canadian National smooth-side and painted Pullman-Standard rolling stock)..
An aside: in the next millenium I will photograph this same locomotive -- rebuilt into an FP9ARM and in classic Canadian Pacific passenger livery -- on the point of a special passenger train commemorating Canada's 150th anniversary. That photo will be in summer, in Montreal's Old Port, as a color digital file instead of black-and-white 120 film negative. And I won't be a passenger then...
This is in the city of Palermo, Sicily. We had to go around the backstreets to get past this protest march
Upside-down Dutch flags in de Achterhoek (GLD). The use and desecration of national symbols became a point of public contention during the 2022 protests against plans to reduce nitrogen compound emissions in the Netherlands.
