Representatives of dam-affected communities and international organizations from South America, the Middle East, Europe, the US and Africa blocked the entrance to the construction site of the Ilisu Dam in southeast Turkey today, demanding an end to the controversial development that would flood Hasankeyf, a Bronze Age city and World Heritage site.

In solidarity with the millions of people already feeling the impacts of climate change, hundreds of people protested in the halls of the UN Climate Talks this afternoon to demand that nations not sign a “death sentence” in Durban. The march filled the hall outside of the main negotiating room in Durban just as the afternoon round of talks were scheduled to begin. Standing side-by-side with delegates from some of the world’s most vulnerable countries, civil society representatives sang traditional South African freedom songs and chanted slogans like, “Listen to the People, Not the Polluters.”

"Curfew protests in Penn North are being responded to by arrests and a militarized police force. We expect that in Hampden - a predominantly and historically white neighborhood - the response will be very different. This action aims to highlight the difference in how the city chooses to respond to the violation of curfew in a predominantly white neighborhood compared to the neighborhood of Penn North - primarily a community of color. The differing response will highlight anti-Black racism, an institutionalized practice of the police force and government.
This is a SILENT protest so that we can point people to the voices of those most devastated by white supremacy in Baltimore. Fliers will be available to pass out to passersby and media to explain. We'll be silent to the media, but engaging with those in the neighborhood. The idea here is not be the voice heard in the media, but point the story back to those most affected."

These pictures are from the die-in protest over the large number of trans women of color being murder and the lack of action to stop the violence.
On the 17th of October about 15,000 people protested the government's plan to impose disastrous changes to how we and the health service work. Although faced with a depressing future, it was truly inspirational to see so many people united under one banner to save our NHS.
If you're in the UK, please oppose the new contract, spread awareness and don't let Jeremy Hunt destroy one of our country's greatest assets, the National Health Service.
Protest in the ethnically cleansed city of Prijedor. Marchers walk with backpacks with the names and ages of children killed in the genocide. The protest was granted on the condition they didn't say the word "genocide". In the center of the town the backpacks were set down to spell out "GENOCID?".

In 2012, confronted by an abusive husband who she had a protective order against, Marissa Alexander went to her room, got out a gun, and fired one shot into the wall to scare her husband off. The mother of three was arrested and sentenced to 20 years in prison. In light of the Trayvon Martin killing, many have drawn comparisons between Marissa Alexander, and George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of all charges. Many have suggested that Florida's "Stand your ground" law is so poorly written (in my opinion it is), that it encourages people carrying to kill a person instead of threatening that person off.
A relatively small Oakland protest on a hot summer day. It is about 8km from downtown Oakland to Fruitvale, with many drawing comparisons between Trayvon Martin and Oscar Grant.
