I'm still dealing with the Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) that is a direct side effect from my treatments, which concluded on October 2nd, 2025. Via my own research I have found how the neuropathy should peak 3-5 months following my final Cycle (treatment).

Suffice it to say, my ankles and feet are still swollen and the front section of each foot is numb. In mid-November that numbness moved from having completely engulfed each of my feet to the front part of both. The fact that the numbness migrated into another section of my feet is a clear indicator that the nerves are healing.

Neuropathy is damage to the peripheral nervous system (nerve fibers), and is a result from certain chemotherapy agents.

None of this information was ever advised to me by my medical team. I needed to research it all on my own, as well as confer with my principal Health Care Proxy, a great friend of mine of 35-years, now a retired former professional nurse who once worked at various NYC Hospitals, and who now resides in the Philippines.

I am so grateful to have requested and been approved for a chemotherapy dosage reduction on my last two treatments. I had a total of 6 cycles (treatments), and no one ever informed me how side effects were cumulative. You're my fucking medical team, you're supposed to inform me. Nope. Not a peep. Pathetic.

BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE!

January 08, 2026

Today commemorated my first day back in my office since late last August, four months ago. Boss Lady picked me up this morning and drove me to the office. And back home again as well. My co-workers gave me a welcome back card which everyone in our office signed. And they had affixed helium balloons to my computer monitor, and cupcakes were set out in our lunchroom. And some from other departments stopped in. It was all very festive and a little overwhelming, as I had essentially been holed up in my apartment working remotely for months on end. Though it was all wonderful.

This morning whilst getting ready, I told myself how I was going to be completely honest about why I had a cane and where I had been all this time. Same reason why I've photographed and written about it on Flickr. Being both open and honest about it all is a form of healing for me. It's referred to as emotional suppression. Keeping things inside, not sharing, not being open, can be detrimental to ones health.

Moving forward, I will be going into my office each Thursday in January. Seeing how I feel, in February, the plan is to increase that to two days per week. It will be a gradual increase, as I gradually heal from the neuropathy.

And life is good

There exists a societal stigma with regards to cancer, which silently stipulates how people are not supposed to speak of nor acknowledge it. Yeah, well, you know what I say about that?

Go Fuck Yourself.

No one tells me what to do with my creativity.

This the best case situation. If the cancer is only in the prostate and you remove the prostate...you are sitting pretty. Question: The prostate cancer is only in the prostate cancer and you have radiation and the radiation doesn't kill all the cancer? Are you sitting pretty? Something to think about...I did.

Black men are 60% more likely than white men to be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, and are more than twice as likely to die from the disease. www.cancer.org/cancer/news/expertvoices/post/2013/09/24/w...

So my wife draws a nother X and says,"Tic Tac Toe John." Who was allaying who's fears?" Me her's or her me?

On Monday 12 June 2017, I was lucky enough to be whisked into Roxburghe House, Aberdeen on the advice of my GP at Cults Medical Practice. He had ran out of ideas of what to do about my immediate condition which includes losing the hearing from my right ear. Within 30-minutes of entering Roxburghe, it was determined that I would need a brain scan. Doctor Morgan and his team knew exactly what medication I needed to be put on and that was implemented straight away. I got my brain scan this afternoon (Friday) at ARI and the results were on Roxburghe House doctors desk before I had returned from ARI. Tomorrow the lovely Amanda-Jane is doing a "RACE FOR LIFE" fund raising exercise in Dundee to raise money for cancer research and I promised her I'd be there to watch her / watch her finish. Roxburghe House agreed to let me travel to Dundee on the understanding that I'm back with them on Saturday evening. Above is my current list of medication. It feels very strange having been in Roxburghe House for a few days, but I'm now back wandering about my own house again. I think posting of car pics will quickly cease. It's weird sitting at my PC typing this stuff. I still consider myself to be so lucky that I won't be getting operated on in the prostate area because of complications brought on by my Huntington's disease.

Tuesday 20th June 2017, and I have been allowed back home.

My weekly dose of drugs, used to keep me alive. The main change recently has been from Dihydrocodeine to Tramadol.

Not shown in this very fine picture are the four Dexamethazone steroids that I take each morning. They arrive separate to my weekly delivery from my chemist.

None of the above have anything to do with my Huntington's disease. There is no medication for that.

My very fine NHS toilet frame / elevated seat. This is to stop my hip bones being on a lower plain than my knees whilst sitting on the pot. This should slow down the parting of my left hip from my pelvis. EEK!! This device was supplied free by Bon Accord Care, Aberdeen. Also supplied free by Bon Accord Care were: a device that helps me to put on my socks. a grabber device to help me pick up things, two 4" thick foam cushions for propping up my sofa base cushions and a table on casters to go with my NHS bed. Lewis & Kyle have christened this device; Grampa's poo chair.

This is an example of two potential biopsy reports. One is favorable pathology (less aggressive) the other less favorable (more aggressive). Know the specifics of your biopys. If your urologist did not go over your biopsy report...ask him or get a copy of the report. You need to know.

ARI today (26th April 2018) to see what work was entailed with Friday 13th operation. There was approx. four x-rays taken today. I was allowed a screen capture of one of them. The vertical rod goes all the way down to my left knee, where it's secured by two screws. I have to return in eight weeks time for more checks. Happy days.

Seventeen days to go.

Will I radiate and glow?

Seventeen days to go,

But please not a go slow.

Seventeen days to go

Perhaps less, with a tail wind to blow.

Seventeen days to go,

A little less than half or so.

Seventeen days to go

And no more to and fro.

Seventeen days to go

Will I be free to love and grow?

Seventeen days to go

Will there still be cancer there, or no?
