My very fine NHS toilet frame / elevated seat. This is to stop my hip bones being on a lower plain than my knees whilst sitting on the pot. This should slow down the parting of my left hip from my pelvis. EEK!! This device was supplied free by Bon Accord Care, Aberdeen. Also supplied free by Bon Accord Care were: a device that helps me to put on my socks. a grabber device to help me pick up things, two 4" thick foam cushions for propping up my sofa base cushions and a table on casters to go with my NHS bed. Lewis & Kyle have christened this device; Grampa's poo chair.
ARI today (26th April 2018) to see what work was entailed with Friday 13th operation. There was approx. four x-rays taken today. I was allowed a screen capture of one of them. The vertical rod goes all the way down to my left knee, where it's secured by two screws. I have to return in eight weeks time for more checks. Happy days.
Seventeen days to go.
Will I radiate and glow?
Seventeen days to go,
But please not a go slow.
Seventeen days to go
Perhaps less, with a tail wind to blow.
Seventeen days to go,
A little less than half or so.
Seventeen days to go
And no more to and fro.
Seventeen days to go
Will I be free to love and grow?
Seventeen days to go
Will there still be cancer there, or no?

Much like the prostatic urethra, the nerves responsible for erections take a hit regardless of the treatment chosen. With surgery they are either cut (this results in non recoverable impotence) or bruised ( which can result in partial or full recovery of erectile function). With radiation the nerves are damaged by the effect of the radiation and usually results in a slow deterioration over a period of time to an unknown level of function. In both situations, the pre treatment function of the male will in large part determine the level of function after the treatment. (The better the pre treatment erectile function, the better the post treatment level of function.)
Still dealing with the CIPN (Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy), though I feel how the swelling of my ankles and feet may have somewhat reduced. My toes are still numb. Strangest feeling. Have been trying not to wear socks at all, due to the top part imprinting its line onto my ankles. First world problems in December. Good grief. Keep assuring myself how this will all pass in time, and that I need to remain as focused as possible. That said, I always try and stay prepared, so I've purchased a nice cane on Amazon. I've nothing against aluminum, although, I got a nice one made of oak wood. These things need to be done correctly
It seems I always take my best self-portraits when I've food or coffee or something similar on my face. I suppose it's because I'm so relaxed at the time. It doesn't really matter in the end

I drew a picture for my wife of my path report to allay any fears she might have about my health...to show her my cancer was "favorable." (Please see next illustration.)
Almost a year ago. The consultant told me that my PSA had gone down, from 6.7 to 5.9. I was cock a hoop, certain that I could safely follow active surveillance. Later my goal became to last out 2011 without recourse to radical treatment. I didn't quite manage it. Hormonetherapy started in November 2011, with radiotherapy beginning in March 2012.

On Thursday, January 8th I am scheduled to go into my office. First time since late August, four months ago. Since then I've been working remotely. I'm not a remote person, though I've made the best of it, while it was necessary and I'm grateful for that option. Initially, I will be going into work one day a week, for starters. As I am still awaiting my paratransit confirmation letter, my Boss will pick me up on Thursday, drive me to work, and drive me back home that afternoon. She's just a phenomenal individual. And I'm her executive assistant. We make a great team, as jointly, we posses a tremendous amount of business experience.
I'm still plagued with Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN), a side effect from my treatment sessions, cycles, which ran from June - Oct 2025. Via my own research, I'm thinking how it should peak 3-5 months following my last treatment, which had been on Oct 02, 2025. The swelling of my ankles and feet is slowly dissipating, as is the numbness of my toes. Really strange shit. I've been informed by my out-to-lunch medical team how the neuropathy may never revert back to the baseline. We'll see about that.

I can't get enough of my Tatami bed. Since last February, I've gotten the best sleep. It's a traditionally styled Japanese Tatami bed that sits 18 inches off the floor, and with a wooden frame that assembles together like a puzzle. Wooden slats that roll out like a picket fence, and tatami mats (made from rice straw and woven rush grasses. Which aid in the regulation of heat), and atop those sits a 45 pound organic cotton futon mattress. Overkill. But so worth it. As are my multitude of down pillows. We must constantly spoil ourselves.
Following extensive research, I purchased the bed over the phone from a store in San Francisco, California. I live in New York City. Oddly, these beds are not sold on the east coast of the United States. So strange.

A male voids through the prostatic urethra. Around this tube 80-100 radioactive seeds are placed to treat the prostate cancer. Is it any wonder that one might have some symptoms of irritation to void after this procedure. The severity and duration of which one will not know...untill you have it done. You can limit this if pre treatment you assure you have no obstructive voiding symptoms. Do you know about your prostatic urethra?

My best friend, a doctor, was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was amazed how complicated the decision was. Myths, health, complications, the different kinds all make the decision very hard...and the results so unpredictable.
