A welcomed splash of colour on my patio area. I love the vividness of colour. I have edited it using the Snapseed app which really is a brilliant quick and easy way to jazz up you images. I also use it on my SLR images when on holiday.

In the heart of darkness, there lies an unspoken light – a series of moments captured in the essence of flour, symbolising the purity and the foundational elements of life. "Flourish: Portraits of Heritage and Light" is a photographic journey through the cultural tapestry of humanity, exploring the depth of individual heritage through the simple act of a throw. Each portrait, a canvas of identity, narrates stories untold, blending tradition with a whisper of the contemporary.

PROMPT:

In a high-quality photo shoot set against a completely black background with professional lighting, a young woman from Namibia is depicted in a moment of self-expression, wearing full-coverage black yoga attire. She is actively throwing a handful of white flour into the air, ensuring her hand is visible in the frame, engaging in the action. The flour is captured mid-air and landing on her, with specific details such as a streak across her forehead, one cheek, a bit on the nose, and more on the yoga attire. Her skin tone, rich in shades of dark brown, is vividly portrayed, emphasizing the contrast between her skin, the black attire, and the white flour. This scene should embody a dynamic and elegant moment, suitable for the front cover of a high-fashion magazine like Vogue, with ultra sharp photographic quality that brings out the textures, colors, and details of the moment.

Poem

In the still of the studio's night,

A dance of dust, a contrast bright.

Shadows play on walls so stark,

Heritage's face, in light and dark.

A handful of flour, up it goes,

Stories in speckles, in monochrome clothes.

Faces emerge from the plumes of white,

Cultures blend in the absence of light.

From the heart of Africa, under the sun's fierce glow,

To the serene lands where the Nile waters flow.

Each grain of flour, a testament to time,

In every portrait, a rhythm, a rhyme.

Haiku

Flour in the air,

Heritage's silent whisper,

Light dances on skin.

I love this field of wildflowers wrapped in white & blue

Where do you like to wander in the neighborhood?

My library is not prompting for comments ... we'll have to change that!

This weeks prompt is 'Vintage'. My mom left me some amazing vintage bling. The moonstone necklace is my absolute favorite. I even wear it occasionally. But the box in which I keep all the glitter holds much more beautiful things I love.

I love quotes. I have an entire journal just for them.

Prompts are clearly formulated instructions or questions that are used to generate specific reactions or answers from an AI program and prompting is thus a key factor in the effective use of artificial intelligence.

The game show format "Prompt Battle" demonstrates the prompting skills of contestants. The audience decides who can elicit the most surprising, disturbing or beautiful images from the AI system. The "Prompt Battle Training Station" is a spin-off of the original game. Visitors can use it to put their prompting skills to the test.

Pretty dresses and pretty people. Bit of a problem emerging with hands and feet though.

Built 1928 for water police who, besides usual police duties on the river and nearby, were responsible for protecting the black swans. The earlier wooden structure was demolished 1904 but not replaced until 1928.

“Some time ago the water police station on the edge of the Torrens Lake near the City Bridge, was condemned by the health authorities, and the Commissioner of Police promptly withdrew his two officers from the 'beat’. . . complaints. . . an appeal be made to the Commissioner of Police for additional police protection in the vicinity of the Adelaide Bridge." [Register 11 Oct 1904]

“Until August last the Government kept two water police-constables at the lake and it was pointed out that they had been responsible for saving several lives. The removal of the constables was, due to a difference of opinion between the Police Commissioner and the City Corporation. For many years past the constables had occupied an old house on the banks of the lake near the King William-road-bridge; in fact the building was called the Torrens Lake police station. The building was declared by the city health officer to be insanitary, and the health committee of the council ordered it to be demolished. This order was carried out. The question then arose as to where the police should be accommodated. The Commissioner of Police contended that a building should be provided by the corporation, and he pointed out that although the corporation paid a moiety of the cost of the foot constables they did not, and were not required by the Act to pay anything towards the upkeep of the water policemen. On the other hand, the corporation maintained that they were already paying a approximately £4,500 a year for police protection, and yet had no control over the force. They declined to pay any additional amount and urged that in other places where the water police were stationed the municipal authorities were not required to provide them with residences.” [Advertiser 17 Apr 1905]

“the Government had placed an amount on the Estimates to provide for the erection of a new police-station at the Torrens Lake, and a request had been made for a site to be selected. The committee recommend the request be granted, and referred the matter to the chairman and town clerk to select a suitable site and report to the next meeting.” [Advertiser 30 Jul 1912]

“the town clerk (Mr. Ellery) and the chairman of the committee (Councillor Forwood) had selected a suitable site (66 ft. x 80 ft) on the south bank of the river, two chains east of the City Bridge, for a new police station at the Torrens Lake. The suggestion was made that a lease be entered into for 21 years, picket fencing to be used for back and two sides, and ornamental for front, the building to be of brick or stone.” Daily Herald 13 Aug 1912]

“Some two years ago, after considerable agitation, the Commissioner of Police (Mr. W. H. Raymond), the town clerk (Mr. T. G. Ellery), and several others visited the Torrens, and selected a site on which to erect an up-to-date police-station. The ground was pegged out, and the City council. generously presented the land to the Police Department free of all cost, as they recognised the need of such a convenience. The sum of £1,400 was placed on the Estimates for erection of the building, but up to date that is all that has been done. . . Then the telephone, which was a private one used by the police for years free of charge to the department, has been removed and the nearest one is at the barracks, a quarter of a mile away.” [Advertiser 19 Nov 1913, letter to Editor]

“Tenders, returnable today, have been called for the construction of a police station on Torrens Lake. The plans, which have been prepared by the Architect-in-Chief's Department, provide for a one-story brick building in Spanish style. The site provided for it is on the southern bank near the City Bridge. The building will be finished in white cement and will have a red tiled roof. It comprises a police office and double cell. The charge room will measure 12 ft. 6 in. By 12 ft. 6 in., and there will be a yard between the charge room and cells. On one side will be. a small porch and charge window. Each window will be guarded by wrought iron grilles.” [News 18 Apr 1928]

“Horse-drawn. vehicles that ply for hire in the City of Adelaide grow fewer in number each year. Inspectors of Adelaide City Council have been passing the vehicles and steeds for the renewal of licences. During the past few days the Torrens Lake Police Station, Victoria drive, near the parade ground, was the scene of the inspections. Grey-haired and white-bearded drivers stood by while their vehicles and harness were examined. One of the veteran drivers of cabs is Mr. Charles Hodge, who has occupied a stand outside the Zoo for 20 years.” [News 8 Jan 1931]

“Unemployed men living in shacks by the river today expressed thanks for the gift of a ton of firewood made to them by a reader of ‘The News’, Mrs. Donald Smith, of Hawker's road, Medindie. The wood was distributed to them by Constable Somers at the Torrens Lake Police Station, each man receiving about a bag full.” [News 30 May 1935]

“The water police stationed on the Torrens have as their headquarters what must surely be one of Adelaide's most attractive police stations. Perched high above the reed-fringed lake near the Parade Ground building, with its graceful outline and trim green wooden trellises, seems to extend loving arms to the lawbreaker.” [News 2 Feb 1937]

“Between the Parade Ground and the river is the smallest police station in South Australia. Of attractive design, it is just an office, courtyard, and cell. Water Police Constable W. H. Badams is in charge, and for 16 years his beat has been between Hackney Bridge and the weir. The police have varied jobs on the lakeside. Besides keeping order, they watch that no one interferes with the black swans, which are protected birds. But the shags, which prey on the lake fish, fall victims to the constable's gun when they become numerous and particularly troublesome.” [The Mail 26 Sep 1942]

“For the first time the SA police has appointed a sergeant in the water police section. He is Sergeant E. North, officer in charge of the Torrens Lake Police Station.” [Advertiser 2 Dec 1949]
