I usually make a point of visiting your site and giving my opinion on some of your photos each time you visit my site and I see that you choose several photos as a favorite without my knowing what prompted you to to choose. What would make me happy once on occasion without being on each visit is to have an idea of what interested you in the photos is it the landscape, the subject, the colors, the circumstances, format, ect. As I was walking along Lake Windward Dr, I kept joking to the friend I was with just how big this lake had to be…as in like a big sea with waves and such. I can’t recall what exactly prompted that discussion, but my quirky humor took off and ran with it during the walk :-) But when I first spotted the lake with its waters then noticed this fog slowly moving across the lake…amazing to see and great timing, to say the least! So I metered as fast as I could to ensure I captured the look and feel of that fog while composing to get that “right” angle looking across the lake and to the nearby and background trees.
I was later able to work with control points and color control points in Capture NX2 to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted. I then added a Foliage and Sunshine CEP filter to give that little bit extra for the final image.

Someone mentioned below about the greenery in our garden, despite the restrictions. We made a decision 2yrs ago to stop watering and simply let everything die that required water. We lost a lot of plants, but the ones that are drought tolerant survived, and so we still have a lovely garden. The lawn is another story! Its a great big dustbowl!

For a few months Eric & I also socialized young stray kittens for Stichting Zwerfkatten ((a foundation that cares for the stray-cats that live in Rotterdam).
This little grey baby was one of them. We called her Muis (Mouse) because she was so scared at first, and because of her beautiful blue grey color.
We enjoyed it very much giving these babies a home for a few weeks. In the end we stopped because it was too hard to say goodbye every time our babies were ready for a new home.
