Did you know the first known lighthouse in recorded history was built in 280 BC, but there are references dating back to 1200 BC indicating they were in use far earlier?
This is another painting I did while working on a review, but I didn’t like the way the sky came out, and the lighthouse is a bit off-kilter. But I do like the drama of the painting.

My cold feet prompted me to look through my archives for a photo that would make me feel a little warmer.
I came across this photo from the Marrakech Museum, which I was able to visit in May last year. Man, it was nice and warm there.
The museum is located in the historic Dar Mnebhi Palace, which was built in the early 20th century by Mehdi al-Mnebhi, Sultan Moulay Abdelaziz's Minister of War.
The entire palace is a typical example of Moroccan architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is definitely worth a visit.
Here you can see the covered courtyard in the middle of which hangs a huge brass chandelier.
So I feel a little warmer after this mental short trip. How are you ?
Meine kalten Füße haben mich veranlasst in meinem Archiv nach einem Foto zu suchen, dessen Anblick dafür sorgt, dass es mir etwas wärmer wird.
Dabei bin ich auf diese Aufnahme aus dem Museum von Marrakech gestoßen, welches ich im Mai letzten Jahres besuchen durfte. Mann, war das schön warm da.
Das Museum befindet sich im historischen Dar Mnebhi Palast welcher Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts von Mehdi al-Mnebhi dem Kriegsminister von Sultan Moulay Abdelaziz erbaut wurde.
Der ganze Palast ist ein typisches Beispiel der marokkanischen Architektur des späten 19. und beginnenden 20. Jahrunderts und definitiv einen Besuch wert.
Hier seht ihr den überdachten Innenhof in dessen Mitte ein riesiger Kronleuchter aus Messing hängt.
Also mir ist nach diesem mentalen Kurztrip schon ein wenig wärmer. Wie gehts Euch ?

This IS a Contraption!! At one stage, I made a number of really FUN Steampunk cloth dolls ( from commercial patterns- by 'Frowning Francis', for the Crafters among you) I collected tons of rusty bottle caps, pieces of rusted metal, springs, a derelict watch that a Dear Friend donated to the cause ( I dismantled it with difficulty) etc! I created this 'thingamy' but never got round to fastening it together. Anyway, for what it is worth, it is my contribution to MM's 'Contraptions' prompt. It is an Alternate Sponser- as, if it WERE all connected, I feel certain that it would Sponse, alternately!! And so it should!!
