The South Carolina National Guard promoted Timothy J. Sheriff, deputy commanding general of the 263rd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, to the rank of U.S. Army Brigadier General in a ceremony at the National Guard Armory in Seneca, S.C., Oct. 21. Brig. Gen. Sheriff was sworn in at the ceremony by Maj. Gen. Robert E. This is a photograph from the 9th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon which was promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 8th of March 2020 at 11:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The finish line is on the running track within Bohermeen Community Center. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. In 2016 the original course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. This is the second year of the half marathon only event. The major change for 2019 seen the half marathon become the only race of the day. Previously, there was a 10KM race option also presented. This year well over 1000 participants finished the race which sold out many weeks in advance. The race also includes the 47th Rennicks Cup (Men's overall team) and the 44th Father Delany Cup (Women's overall team).
The weather was a slight improvement on the very wintry weather of 2019. A very strong westerly wind contined and this was in the face of runners on the open stretches on the Navan Athboy road and on the additional section on Loop 1. There was also a very heavy hail shower at around midday.
Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. Having now organised the event for six years running it is certain that the event will continue to grow and expand become one of the mainstays on the Irish athletic club road racing calendar for many years to come.
This race takes place about one month after the Trim AC 10 Mile Road Race in Trim (just down the road from Bohermeen). Indeed these races truly kick-start the whole road racing season of fixtures amongst the clubs in Meath who are now famous for the quality and standard of the road races staged and organised.

20 November 2018, Kitale, Kenya - Workers at Victorian Foods Fish Factory fillet Nile Perch fish from Lake Turkana as part of the process to obtain Nile Perch products produced, transported and distributed by Kitale based Kenyan company Victorian Foods. Victoria Foods employs more than 300 locals to fish the perch, which is then filleted and transported through cold storage to Kitale, where it is processed and shipped around the
country and abroad.

Last year the course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. There was almost a total of 1,000 participants in both races.
The other great variable in road racing - the weather - was dry, clear but rather windy. At several parts of the course there was a stiff headwind which made these sections that bit more difficult. Temperatures were around a seasonal 10C for this time in March in Ireland.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

12.12.2018 High-Level Event with the High Commissioner for Human Rights: Promoting rights-based climate action for people and planet
South Asian youth will be actively promoting mental wellness and reducing stigma with their peers, families and communities through a new Mental Health Youth Ambassador program funded by the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions.
The South Asian Mental Health Alliance (SAMHAA) received $112,900 in year-end funding to train 100 youth ambassadors by Spring 2021. The training will be offered throughout the lower mainland and includes the Mental Health First Aid certification course, developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Additionally, training and mentoring in cultural safety, overdose crisis education, health care system navigation skills, and learning how to use the arts to promote dialogue about mental health will be provided to participating youth ambassadors.
South Asian communities are one of the largest ethno-cultural groups in the province and tend to access mental health and substance use services less often than the general population. SAMHAA is tackling this disparity by working with local non-profit societies, faith communities and service providers to raise awareness, build capacity and reduce stigma around mental health, with a focus on leveraging the expertise and influence of second-generation South Asian Canadians.

In several ways this composition is a microcosm of the consumer society of 2020, with a mix of small businesses and public services: liquor store, auto repair shop, rental house, publicly funded library open to all for entertainment, edification, job searching, staying out of the killing weather of winter (hypothermia) and summer (high heat index). Only a 5 minute walk north is one of the city-operated middle and high schools, a credit union (bank), a coin laundromat, and a vast golf course (from the time that this piece of land was at the city outskirts - until the 1910s and 20s). A cellphone and PC repair business is between the laundry and liquor store. City bus service runs north and south every 30 minutes, but most traffic is personal vehicles and commercial trucks. Intermittently a few times per day bicycle commuters or exercisers use the dedicated bike lanes. And if there is accumulated snow, then periodically a snowplow or salt truck passes this way, too.

Djuana L. Goodwin is promoted to chief warrant officer 5 May 18, 2023, at the Virginia National Guard Sgt. Bob Slaughter Headquarters at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, presided over the ceremony and administered the oath of office to Goodwin. Williams was joined by Brig. Gen. James W. Ring, the VNG Director of the Joint Staff, to pin on the new rank. Goodwin was the first Black woman promoted to warrant officer 1 in the VNG in 2001, and she is the first Black woman to be promoted to chief warrant officer 5. From 26-27 November 2019, experts from a dozen countries came together in Doha, Qatar to learn and share their experiences around prisoner rehabilitation. The gathering also marked the launch of UNODC's new guide in support of national brands of prisoner-developed products.
They were relieving the pressure on the dam after almost 3" of Rain.
Shortly before noon Saturday, Exelon Power Co. had opened 26 of the floodgates on Conowingo Dam to accommodate the rush of rainwater and melting snow flowing down the Susquehanna River on the way to the Chesapeake Bay.
The more gates on the hydroelectric dam that are opened, the greater the risk of flooding, particularly in the town of Port Deposit, a few miles downriver.
With more than half the gates open, the town heard a warning siren and braced for what residents call "a high-water event."
But by 2:30 p.m., the river had crested and the power company had closed two gates.
"It looks like the river has reached its crest," said Port Deposit Mayor Kerry Abrams. "We still have water in our basements, our backyards and in the town park. It won't go down until they are at 18 gates. But it looks like we have made it through. With clear skies and no pending rain, we are extremely lucky this time."
The Susquehanna, which rises from a spring near Cooperstown, N.Y., and takes water from 30,000 miles of feeder streams, flows nearly 500 miles through three states before emptying into the Chesapeake Bay.
The river basin is one of the nation's most flood-prone areas, and its "main stem is more prone to ice jams and subsequent flooding than any other river east of the Rocky Mountains," the Susquehanna River Commission reports.
The worst flooding in recent memory occurred after Tropical Storm Agnes, which dumped more than 7 inches of rain as it made its way along the Eastern seaboard in June 1972. At the June 24 peak of the flood, which saw the river crest at 40.91 feet, all 50 of Conowingo Dam's gates were opened. Much of the town was inundated.
Longtime residents know to base their reactions on the number of gates opened.
"When they get back down to 18, the water will recede and we can start to clean up," Abrams said.
That will likely be Monday, she said.
"It's not only the water," she said. "It's all the debris left behind once it recedes."

St. Ignatius Church is located on Villa Road off Md. 5 south of Leonardtown. It was built in 1788 on St. Inigoes Manor after the American Revolution permitted religious freedom. Access to the interior of the church is available by asking at the nearby Patuent Naval Air Station.
St. Ignatius Church is a direct descendant of Maryland`s first Roman Catholic Chapel at St. Mary`s City, whose communicants formed the basis of American Catholicism. The church is named after the patron saint of the Maryland venture, St. Ignatius, founder of the Society of Jesus. St. Ignatius Church is one of the oldest surviving Catholic churches in Maryland.

The Roman Theatre of Mérida is a construction promoted by the consul Vipsanius Agrippa in the Roman city of Emerita Augusta, capital of Lusitania (current Mérida, Spain). It was constructed in the years 16 and 15 BC.

This is a photograph from the 6th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races and Fun Runs which were promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 12th of March 2017 at 11:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The 10KM race just completes the 2nd part of the half marathon. The finish line is on the running track within Bohermeen Community Center. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. Last year the course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. There was almost a total of 1,000 participants in both races.
The other great variable in road racing - the weather - was dry, clear but rather windy. At several parts of the course there was a stiff headwind which made these sections that bit more difficult. Temperatures were around a seasonal 10C for this time in March in Ireland.
Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. Having now organised the event for six years running it is certain that the event will continue to grow and expand become one of the mainstays on the Irish athletic club road racing calendar for many years to come.
This race takes place about one month after the Bewley's 10 Mile Road Race in Trim (just down the road from Bohermeen). Indeed these races truly kick-start the whole road racing season of fixtures amongst the clubs in Meath who are now famous for the quality and standard of the road races staged and organised.
The race is supported by substantial local sponsorship from businesses in the local area. McNally Logistics and Transportation are the main sponsors of this year's event. The company specialises in national and international haulage.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Asian Pacific Festival of Arts & Music By the Sea unites the Asian Pacific communities, empowers them with a forum for expression, and promotes cultural diversity and awareness through arts and music. The theme “Reflection Through a Shining Community” captures the unity of our Asian Pacific communities and their successes.
The purpose of the Festival is to introduce and celebrate the rich Asian cultures, Asian arts, and Asian music artists to everyone, including the one-point-five and second generations Asian Americans, who might not have traveled to these Asian countries yet.
The opening ceremony on Saturday will kick off with Taiko drums, and the dragon boat demonstration. The Festival offers everyone a virtual trip to “HOME” in many Asian countries such as Vietnam, China, Thailand, Korea, India, Philippines, Japan, Cambodia and many more. Festival-goers will enjoy a variety of cultural exhibits, art walk, folk dances, fashion shows, music and entertainments, martial arts, food eating contests, cooking challenges, alcohol garden, and authentic food from different countries. Children will enjoy the day touring through the Kid’s Village where they will be issued a “Bon Voyage” Passport to tour different Asian countries. While there, the children have the opportunities to participate in fun and collaborative activities.
Highlights include APF Hip-Hop Dance Competition, Miss Scholarship Asian Pacific Pageant, and different exhibits inspired by various artists around the world.
The Festival’s closing ceremony will be on Sunday with an Ondo Dance and a Lantern Ceremony.

Rafael E. Chicolugo is promoted to the rank of first lieutenant by Brig. Gen. John Uberti, U.S. Army Installation Management Command's deputy commanding general, in a ceremony Nov. 7 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Chicolugo was also presented with a Purple Heart and Combat Action Badge during the cermony. He was injured Sept. 16 when an improvised explosive device detonated during a dismounted combat patrol in Afghanistan, resulting in the amputation of his lower leg. ★WHAT IS THE DREAM ROCKET PROJECT?
The Dream Rocket Team is collecting nearly 8,000 artworks from participants around the globe. The artwork will be assembled together to create a massive cover in which will wrap a 37 story Saturn V Moon Rocket at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. We will also be displaying submitted artwork in dozens of national venues prior to the wrapping of the Saturn V. Additionally, we are posting images of submitted artwork & their stories on our Website, Flickr, and Facebook.The Dream Rocket project uses the Saturn V Moon Rocket as a symbolism of universal values of the human spirit. Optimism, hope,

Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. This is the second year of the half marathon only event. The major change for 2019 seen the half marathon become the only race of the day. Previously, there was a 10KM race option also presented. This year well over 1000 participants finished the race which sold out many weeks in advance. The race also includes the 47th Rennicks Cup (Men's overall team) and the 44th Father Delany Cup (Women's overall team).
The weather was a slight improvement on the very wintry weather of 2019. A very strong westerly wind contined and this was in the face of runners on the open stretches on the Navan Athboy road and on the additional section on Loop 1. There was also a very heavy hail shower at around midday.

Para que sepan que trabajo y de ahi saco para poder darme una vida de lujos y ostentación, jajaja.
El fin de semana pasado fui promotor de los Toffles de Arcor en el Santa Isabel de Pedro de Valdivia.
Lo mejor es que las abuelitas son un amor (hay muchas en Ñuñoa y son las únicas que compran dulces) y lo peor es que te hagan ojitos las cajeras (porque tienen 40 años y están evidentemente excedidas de peso). En fin, una buena experiencia. Es bueno conocer distintas realidades, distintos rubros y como funcionan ciertas cosas que uno desconoce.

The South Carolina National Guard promoted Timothy J. Sheriff, deputy commanding general of the 263rd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, to the rank of U.S. Army Brigadier General in a ceremony at the National Guard Armory in Seneca, S.C., Oct. 21. Brig. Gen. Sheriff was sworn in at the ceremony by Maj. Gen. Robert E. This is a photograph from the 3rd round of the Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 21st May 2014 at 20:00. This is the penultimate race in the 2014 series. The race follows the roads and trails around Belvedere and is a very testing 5KM route. The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Over 350 people took part in tonight's event. The weather was the best yet with beautiful warm sunshine with little or no breeze. Perfect running conditions. The final round of the league will take place in one weeks time.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. This is a photograph from the annual Rita and Robbie's Christmas 5KM promoted by Navan AC and held at Claremont Stadium Navan in Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Wednesday 27th October 2017 at 12:00. Just under 350 people took part making it one of the best attendances for this event in recent years. The weather was very cold with the frost from the night making road conditions icy and slippery. Consequently, the race director decided to delay the start of the race by 30 minutes to allow for the temperatures to rise a little and some melting take place, particularly where there was shaded spots on the road. A stiff cold breeze made for rather mixed and challenging conditions for the competitors in the race.
The race started outside Claremont Stadium and finished on the tartan track within the grounds of the stadium. The race followed a well known and historic 5km route which takes in the Athboy Navan road moving onto the Commons Road before turning back onto the Robinstown road back to the stadium. This route was used many times in the past for national championship road races and for previous races hosted by the Navan Clubs.
The race is dedicated to Rita Brady and Robbie Byrne who are both stalwards of athletics in Navan with both having given a lifetime of service to the promotion of athletics in the town of Navan and beyond. Both of their involvement with Navan-based athletics can be traced back not just in years but in decades - back to the 1940s, 50s and 60s and in more recent times. The race today is a suitable way of honoring their work and dedication.

The South Carolina National Guard promoted Timothy J. Sheriff, deputy commanding general of the 263rd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, to the rank of U.S. Army Brigadier General in a ceremony at the National Guard Armory in Seneca, S.C., Oct. 21.
