This is a photograph from the 11th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon which was promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 12th of March 2023 at 11:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The finish line is on the running track within Bohermeen Community Center. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. In 2016 the original course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. The race also includes the 49th Rennicks Cup (Men's overall team) and the 46th Father Delany Cup (Women's overall team). Over, 1400 participants finished the race.
This photograph was taken at the 6 mile/12 mile point in the course.
The weather was mild but very breezy and windy. A very strong westerly wind blew into the face of runners on the open stretches on the Navan Athboy road and on the additional section on Loop 1.
Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. Having now organised the event for six years running it is certain that the event will continue to grow and expand become one of the mainstays on the Irish athletic club road racing calendar for many years to come. This race takes place about one month after the Trim AC 10 Mile Road Race in Trim (just down the road from Bohermeen). Indeed these races truly kick-start the whole road racing season of fixtures amongst the clubs in Meath who are now famous for the quality and standard of the road races staged and organised.

The South Carolina National Guard promoted Timothy J. Sheriff, deputy commanding general of the 263rd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, to the rank of U.S. Army Brigadier General in a ceremony at the National Guard Armory in Seneca, S.C., Oct. 21. Brig. Gen. Sheriff was sworn in at the ceremony by Maj. Gen. Robert E. Livingston, Jr., the Adjutant General for South Carolina, and was pinned by his wife Teresa. “September the 18th of 1980, I enlisted in this very armory,” said Sheriff. “I felt it fitting that 35 years later, that we get together here in Seneca South Carolina for this promotion ceremony.” (U.S. Army National Guard Photo by Capt. This is a photograph from the 2nd round of the 2017 Pat Finnerty Memorial 5KM Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 10th May 2017 at 20:00. The Road League is promoted and organised by Mulligar Harriers Athletic Club and sponsored by local sponsors including O'Brien's Renault dealership. This is a very well established as an annual event which takes place on every Wednesday night in the month of May. Following on from the great weather from last week's race this evening's racing was no different - a beautiful summer evening with little or no breeze. About 220 participants took part in the race which runs a traffic free course over a mix of road and hilly forest trail.

Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This is a photograph from the finish of the Tullamore Harriers AC "Quinlan Cup" Half Marathon which was held on Saturday 27th August 2016 in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland at 11:00. This is the fourth year of the event. The race is organised and promoted by Tullamore Harriers AC. The race starts on the Charleville Road just outside the entrance to Tullamore Harriers. The race proceeds south along the R421 and onto the N52 before taking a route onto local back roads. The race then completes a large rural road route before it joins to the R421 again and the final 1.5 miles are the same as the first mile of the race. The runners enter Tullamore stadium and complete one lap of the tartan track before the finish line. The course is challenging in places with some undulations along the route. But overall it is fair course. 2013 seen the first year of the event as the club commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the formation of Tullamore Harriers AC which today is one of Ireland's best known athletics clubs.

The race was perfectly organised. The weather was good for racing but there was warm summer weather for the entire race which made for warmer than usual running conditions There were stewarts all along the route, 3 drink stations with bottled water, superb facilities, and great after-race refreshments. The stewards along the route provided great encouragement to all of the runners. Tullamore Harriers and the local community really worked together to make this is a wonderful event. There was also a relay option where teams of two can run approximately 10.5km each.
As mentioned above this race half marathon started in 2013 and celebrated the 60th Anniversary (a Diamond Anniversary) of the foundation of Tullamore Harriers AC. The club was formed in the town in November 1953. However, it was almost 1979 before facilities close to what we see today open in the present day site. Over 50 provincial and national athletics meetings are held at Tullamore Harriers every year. The facilities available combined with it's central geographical location joining routes from North, South, East, and West make it a very attractive venue. The half marathon today firmly brings competitive national road racing back to "The Harriers". The Quinlan Cup which will be awarded to the winning club team. For more than 40 years the Harriers Quinlan Cup was the most prestigious event on the road racing calendar. Having started as a cross-country race back in 1957, it became a road race in 1967 and remained so until 2000 when the race was last held. During its reign as a blue-ribband event the Quinlan Cup was won by the likes of John Treacy and Eamonn Coughlan.
Today, the facilities at Tullamore Harriers are the envy of many athletics clubs in Ireland. The facilities provided by Tullamore make it one of the premier venues for local and national level athletics in Ireland. There is an Olympic standard tartan track, a fully equipped gym, changing facilities, press and media facilities, meeting room spaces, etc. The club also provides a social center and niteclub which makes "The Harriers" a very well known on the local social scene. Esssentially, the town of Tullamore would be a different place if it weren't for the presence of Tullamore Harriers AC.

28 September 2022 - Panelists in this event discussed how aquatic foods, healthy diets, and nature-based solutions promote a sustainable blue economy and resilient communities.
Healthy marine ecosystems are crucial for the food security and livelihoods of millions of people in Asia and the Pacific. In 2019, ADB launched the Action Plan for Healthy Oceans and Sustainable Blue Economies, which aims to expand support for ocean health and marine economy projects.
Civil society organizations, including nongovernment organizations, play important roles in protecting the ocean. ADB has been collaborating with the WWF to raise awareness about strategic approaches to promote nature-based solutions and blue and aquatic foods.
The event, led by WWF and Worldfish, was held on the sidelines of the 55th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors.

Students and the Zama community recognized Red Ribbon Week, promoted Oct. 23 through Oct. 31, to honor the life of Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a former DEA agent who was killed fighting for drug awareness.
Students learned healthy living advice and drug-free awareness from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Oct. 24 during a visit to Camp Zama. This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme is “the healthy me is drug free.”
Activities began with a commemoration ceremony at Zama American Middle School on Oct. 8.
Other activities include tying red ribbons to trees; red ribbon themed days at the elementary schools, a creative artwork contest, and ASAP volunteers educating students about the dangers of drug abuse.

This is a photograph from the second round of the Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 14th May 2014 at 20:00. The race follows the roads and trails around Belvedere and is a very testing 5KM route. The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Over 380 people took part in tonight's event. The weather was much improved on last week with warm and mild conditions for the race.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

This is a photograph from the 3rd round of the Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 21st May 2014 at 20:00. This is the penultimate race in the 2014 series. The race follows the roads and trails around Belvedere and is a very testing 5KM route. The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Over 350 people took part in tonight's event. The weather was the best yet with beautiful warm sunshine with little or no breeze. Perfect running conditions. The final round of the league will take place in one weeks time.

The sixth edition of the Globethics.net's flagship event, the Global Ethics Forum, was held in Geneva from 25 to 27 June 2015. Leaders, experts and future leaders from civil society, government, religious and academic institutions as well as from the business sector came together to share their learning and experiences in order to take action together to promote responsible leadership.
The Forum welcomed a total of 160 participants from all continents. Over 50 speakers shared their insights in four plenary sessions and 12 workshops, resulting in concrete project plans on the conference topic "Responsible Leadership in Action: The Value of Values." The programme also featured a public evening with a panel discussion, music and a reception hosted by the City of Geneva at the Graduate Institute Geneva. "The insights shared focused on both parts of the responsible leadership equation: the personal and the organisational level of value awareness, practice and stewardship for stakeholder needs", commented Professor Christoph Stückelberger, Executive Director and Founder of Globethics.net.
On the personal level, keynote speaker Musimbi Kanyoro, President and CEO of the US-based Global Fund for Women, emphasised the need for empathy towards the people one serves, as well as sharing, celebrating others and accepting failure.
The programme also offered a personal reflection session on the value of compassion and emphasized sharing, openness and gratefulness as core values for the Forum experience.
On the organizational level, the gathering focused on overarching tools like organisational training and codes of ethics, integrated reporting and dialogue; sector-specific tools; as well as problem-specific tools such as those used to address gender equality. Workshops were designed to exchange insights on existing tools and then to create a work plan to build upon them for greater impact.
As well as providing the opportunity to forge and strengthen invaluable relationships between different actors, the Forum's outcomes include a colourful bouquet of concrete plans to foster responsible leadership in organisations, including: disseminating knowledge about codes of ethics; creating access to sustainable jobs and education; enhancing awareness and knowledge about gender ethics; strengthening values-driven responsible investment; improving Africa-China business relations through further dialogue; developing an integrated values-based sustainability toolkit for business; understanding higher education's impact on community; ensuring knowledge exchange on values-based higher education programmes; fostering ethical elections in DR Congo; and advancing responsible resource management in religious organisations.
The 2015 Global Ethics Forum was made possible through the support of the Loterie Romande, the Ville de Genève, the Sri Ramanuja Mission Trust, the Graduate Institute Geneva and Nestlé SA.

Nutrition education plays as a key role in FAO’s first strategic objective to ‘help eliminate hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition’ and in promoting healthy and sustainable diets for all. In many parts of the world, professional training in nutrition education remains scarce. The need for competent professionals skilled to conduct nutrition education interventions is especially great in countries where undernutrition coexists with growing rates of overnutrition and associated non-communicable diseases. Funded by the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and in collaboration with numerous African universities, and the Dutch University of Wageningen, FAO launched the nutrition education course ENACT – Education for effective Nutrition in Action – in 2012. The course aims to promote long-term improvements in diet, giving special attention to social and environmental contexts, all relevant sectors and the whole food cycle, including production, processing, marketing, and consumption.

This is a photograph from the 5th annual running of the Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races and Fun Runs which were promoted and hosted by Bohermeen Athletic Club at Bohermeen, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 13th of March 2016 at 12:00. The half marathon consists of a 11KM and 10KM repeated loop around the roads of Bohermeen and Oristown. The course is a fast fair course with a few small hills. This year the course was 'reversed' which just meant that the traditional course changed to accomodate the large number of participants and the narrow country roads on which both the race participants and race traffic must both share before, during and after the race. Most runners agreed that this made the course much faster as a result. There was almost a total of 1,000 participants in both races.
The other great variable in road racing - the weather - was at its spectacular best. It was as close to perfect running conditions. Little or no breeze, around 10C temperature and clear conditions.
Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. Having now organised the event for five years running it is certain that the event will continue to grow and expand become one of the mainstays on the Irish athletic club road racing calendar for many years to come.
The race is supported by substantial local sponsorship from businesses in the local area.

President Joe Biden delivered remarks promoting his infrastructure, family, and job plans following a tour of the McHenry County College in Crystal Lake Wednesday afternoon.
Biden arrived early in Crystal Lake from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
He appeared at the McHenry County College with Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Tammy Duckworth and Congresswoman Lauren Underwood.
The five of them toured the college and then Biden delivered remarks on stage around 1:45 p.m.
He spoke about the benefits of his Build Back Better agenda, which includes the American Rescue Plan, American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan.
Biden emphasized that his plan starts with education and “any nation that out-educates us is going to out-compete us.”
He also said that his plans will provide two years of free community college to every person, address teacher shortages, provide tax cuts for families and expand childcare, among other initiatives.
“Folks, I’ve laid out a lot of plans here. That’s because it’s time we have to think bigger, we have to act bolder and we have to build back better,” Biden said.
Biden departed Crystal Lake en route to O’Hare in Chicago around 2:30 p.m. where he got on Air Force One and departed for Washington D.C.
Earlier in the day as Biden arrived in Crystal Lake, supporters of former President Donald Trump protested his arrival in McHenry County.
Last week, Biden traveled around the Midwest to promote his $973 billion infrastructure deal, which was recently reached with a bipartisan group of senators.
The president announced on June 25 that he had reached the deal with 11 senators, telling reporters at the White House, “We have a deal. We made serious compromises on both ends.”
CBS News reported that Biden was in La Crosse, Wisconsin on June 29 and in Traverse City, Michigan on Saturday in an effort to get public support for his infrastructure plan.
Members of the president’s administration are also traveling to gather support for the infrastructure plan.

Fort Buchanan, PR- With the intent of promoting the balance , morale and wellbeing among its workforce, families and the military community across the island, the US Army Reserve-Puerto Rico (1st Mission Support Command) celebrated a Sports Festival and a 5k run, 19 Nov at Fort Buchanan.
The event was funded with the Army Communities of Excellence (ACOE) monetary award that the 1st MSC received last year.
The Sports Festival included many activities for the family, such as an obstacle course, Gotcha paintball, water slide, rock climbing wall and others events.
“We really appreciate not only the participation of the 1st MSC soldiers, but also the participation of the whole military community. I hope you enjoyed this event,” said Brig. Gen. Fernando Fernández, commander of the US Army Reserve-Puerto Rico, 1st Mission Support Command.
Retired Sgt. 1st Class Angel Rios, from Carolina, PR, came with his family to participate in the event.
“This type of activities is very important for the military community. It maintains the family balanced and the good relations among soldiers,” said Rios who was accompanied by his wife and two children.
As part of the benefits of participating in the event, the command distributed promotional items to all registered participants. A gym bag, an aluminum water bottle, a hat and shirts were part of the coveted articles received by the participants.
The main event of the day was the 5k run, which started at 4:30 p.m.
The overall winner of the race, with 18 minutes, 31 seconds, was Dennis Rodriguez, a University of Puerto Rico, Arecibo campus, student, who is the son of Orlando Rodriguez, a federal employee.
“This is the first time I participate in this type of event at Fort Buchanan, but I really enjoyed the race. I tried to run fast from the beginning, until I found my place in the group. Fortunately, I was able to maintain my pace the whole time,” said Rodriguez.
The overall winner for the female category was Sgt. 1st Class Saby Calo, 1st MSC Headquarters, Headquarters Detachment, with 23 minutes and 59 seconds.
“It was challenging because there was another female that I thought was going to pass me. But I liked it very much. I think this race should happen again next year,” said Calo.
Sgt. 1st Class Sammy Santiago, assigned to the 268th Transportation Company, was the first 1st MSC male service member crossing the finish line.
“This was a very good run. I found the last 800 meters to be more challenging because there was a hill. But other than that, I feel happy to be able to make a good representation of the 1st MSC”, said Santiago who has been mobilized twice to Iraq.
“This is a great event because I had the opportunity of bringing my children and creating great family bonding,” said Santiago.
There were many service members, families and members of the military community who participated in the day’s events.
There were over 160 participants registered in the race, with several male and female categories.
