Day 125 -- The First Harvest!
Instead of normal parents, who get dogs to fulfill their empty nests when their kids go to college, my mom decided to make a garden in my backyard. This was her first tomato to fall off, and she was SO EXCITED. Yes, SHE called it the first harvest. ahahaha.

I was home from work sick today, so couldn't get out of the house to take any shots today, but I noticed in the gallery that I'm in one of the pics that was on the website.
For those who know me.. think of it as a game of Where's Wally

With the new year, I'm finally putting my apartment back into shape. The kitchen renovation is almost done, and it's on to my bedroom. The true test of any relationship is the assembly of furniture from Ikea. Perri has done an incredible job, and I'm afraid to go beyond step 17 until she returns to help!
Very pleased I managed to get a photo I really like for #100. Taken on Portobello Road with the G1 and 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens I'm stealing from my brother. FINALLY went to the Angelika for the first time. Went with friends to see Clint Eastwood's new movie "Gran Torino." Excellent film.

My remote control came in the mail. It was a party, apparently, because everyone came to join me while I took pictures.
There is, of course, no photographic merit whatsoever in this picture.
However, when I saw this sign last week I tried not to laugh. Mountain biking? In Essex? That's as ridiculous as... I don't know... beach volleyball in Horseguards!
And as for that Olympics logo... Just think Lisa Simpson...
While waiting for our Ikea stuff to arrive, I put together a temporary office in the dining room where I can work on clearing my desktop that had been stored since I moved from Vegas. In a wave of generosity (and talking with Daddy), I've decided to clean up my desktop (Kimmy) and let PT use her since his computer is at his gf's house. Or busted. I forget which.
That's the computer I've had since high school, upgrading different hardware every few years to keep up with technology. I love Kimmy, but I've mostly been using Karl (my lappy) so I shouldn't be selfish and keep a desktop I don't use.
I was kinda excited about this photo (as I haven't intentionally blurred lights like this before) until I started critiquing my photos and discovered the obvious marks from my lens.
Like the shot, super bummed about my lens...

[2011-01-11] I headed in to work, but things deteriorated rapidly and I scooted back home at 9.30. This was taken between Goodna and Redbank, a low-lying area that floods easily.
Now we have packed up, ready for evacuation, and are keeping an eye on the flood waters. Apparently the water reached the bottom of our street in the '74 floods, and we are a few metres above that. Then again, this flood is predicted to be a few metres above 1974 anyway. We shall see. As at 10.00pm, the evac centre is full but we could drive to higher ground and wait it out in the car if needed.
I bought flowers today and potted cedars for my deck. We still have frost at night and probably will for another month so I have to bring the flowers in every night. I am loving my deck looking alive and colorful again!

Well, now I have proof that Ian is definitely my child :: look at this mess (and this is only about 75% of the room)!
I had a meeting in South Queensferry today, and after it went for a walk looking for something to photograph. This large branch, which had been washed up onto the beach, proved to be the answer.
Look -- I have a torso! Maya is finally learning to draw bodies (with clothes + buttons). Maybe next month I'll get some pants ...
Day 236: I wanted to get my picture out of the way early today so i took a picture of one of my calphalon pots. It was way too hot to attempt a picture outside.
