Living in New York, and having developed an appreciation for artificial horizons, i've always wanted to photograph this particular one is this particular light. i love the red bright flaming up, and the neutral white turning warm, and am happy to say that this shot turned out exactly as i'd planned it... the airplane accentuating the direction is a bonus.

Sincerely-- their loving father,

Well, here it goes. Day 1 of the 365 day project.
I was trying to get used to my Aiptek video/camera thingy-majig. Got to get used to the settings and it can be sort of shaky. I also gave the photo some color in photoshop. It was really washed out beforehand.

This will be my last entry for this project. I have started my own group, "One Object 365 Days Project" and I am having trouble keeping up with both groups. As you can see from the photo, my son has started back to school, (we live by the almighty planner now), and I am finding it increasingly difficult to come up with a photo a day that I am proud of and want to upload. I find myself just doing whatever I have to so I can get a decent shot for the day. That is not what I want my flickr experience to be, I want it to be fun and I want to upload photos that I am proud of and want to share with the world. I am not doing that these days, it feels more like work. So my "Project 365" journey ends here. I will still be uploading a photo a day of a single tree to my other 365 days group (inspired by this one.) So stop by and check out the tree from time to time if you're interested! ~smile~ Good luck to all of you, and I hope your 365 days are great ones!

A mini project on my day off.
Superheadz designed a clone of the Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim, and the one I got a little while back is called Pink Dress; however, these clones have a rubbery finish that become sticky with time, so I basically scraped and sanded the camera, then sprayed it matt black, plus added a grip. It's not a perfect job, but it looks more stealthy.
so while reading the recent copy of RangeFinder magazine I kept finding myself drawn to these pictures
www.rangefinderonline.com/gallery/Book-Deal-05-3744.htm
Well.. it could have been because that guy is like perfect, but I'd like to think its because I was intrigued by the portrait itself and the overall edit of it.
I generally don't think about borders too much, but I think adding that helps.
So the interesting thing was the Depth of Field. I shot this under some strobes at F1.8.
It was an interesting project to
1. get focus
2. balance the light (F1.8 was a little tricky)
Though far from identical or perfect, I liked the idea behind it and thought I would get the idea down.
And I got to use my garage sale Vivitars.
and a 13 layer border I got to create.
Strobist shit:
1 285 Vivitar- camera right 1/16 power about 3 feet from my face- like 2 o'clock
1 283 Vivitar - camera left- 1/2 power - about 4 feet from my face- like 10 o'clock
POS camera- 50 mm F 1.8
ISO 100
1/200 shutter

St. Jakobi Church
The building in the centre of this picture is of the east end of St. Jakobi.
The Fleche on the top marks the central crossing (this is often marked by the central tower in English churches).
St. Jakobi arose about 1276 from the reconstruction of an older Roman basilica.
The building on the left is the side of Heiligen-Geist-Hospital - Holy Ghost Hospital - we shall be exploring its riches tomorrow!
The building on the right Hollywood Restaurant.
Today I took many photos and I had trouble choosing which one is the "photo of the day"... That's good!!
I ended choosing this one. And it is the only one I took without thinking about the 365 project: I was only playing with the sunset light and these flowers to try new things but I love the colours and light in this photo. The translucent leaves or flowers are amazing.

Germany - Lubeck: St. Petri zu Lubeck
(Local Name: Petrikirche) Southwest of the Markt in Lübeck, in Schmiedestrasse, stands the Gothic Petrikirche (13th-14th C., restored). There are fine views from the tower.
The church itself will surprise you with its whitewashed pillars, high windows, terracotta tiles, some gravestones of granite and a modern crucifix in black and white by Arnulf Rainer - but otherwise nothing. St. Petri was also destroyed in the war, only its bare outer walls remaining up to 1960. An association then initiated the reconstruction of he church, which was finally reconsecrated in 1987. As St. Petri has no parish of its own to serve, it is used mainly for art exhibitions, panel discussions and concerts. Guidebook.
