The Heidelberg Project was created by Tyree Guyton, and Tim Burke has his home and workspace (The Detroit Industrial Gallery on Heidelberg Street) within The Heidelberg Project as well. Many of the works in this set are created by Tim Burke, others by Tyree Guyton.
The work is characterized by recurring themes; God, war, popular culture and mnemonic 'trigger' references to childhood, religion (specifically, crosses), ironic juxtapositions, patriotic icons, and puns. The humor and double entendres abound, making this both a thoughtful and fun place to visit.

The Mound
Conspicuous in the scene is the earthen mound, or raised, artificial road, which forms one of the lines of communication between the Old and the New Town. This is a modern work, and though neither an object of beauty, of science, or of art, is of great public accommodation and convenience.
"This huge deformity, of lumpish length," extending from Hanover-street in the New Town, to Bank-street in the Old, owes its origin to a tradesman, named Boyd, who raised some planks across the north loch for the purpose of obtaining a nearer line of communication - from the former to the latter parts of the town.
The excavated materials which were dug to lay the foundations of new buildings, were ordered to be thrown into this place, and gradually accumulating, soon formed a large and substantial bank.
Although its precise contents and measurements cannot be accurately ascertained, it may be calculated at 720 feet in length, 160 in breadth, and 78 feet in height. Its solid contents are estimated at two millions of cart loads, or seven thousand entire yards of earth.

This was taken on the drive there. Florida is so unbelievably flat. It was approximately an hour and a half drive from Ocala.
Tori White, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Division chief of Operations and Regulatory, toured the Painted Rock Dam April 21 in Arizona. The project, located on the Gila River in Maricopa County, was completed in 1959.
Maj. Jeffrey Beeman, LA District deputy commander; Mark Cohen, LA District chief of the Operations Division; and Michael Turanitza, deputy chief of the Operations Division, along with LA District safety and security staff, are accompanying White on a tour of the Corps' Arizona flood-risk management projects.
Will Kramer and Donnie May, the dam’s operators, discussed the project's day-to-day role in the very large watershed of more than 50,000 square miles.
What my painful days look like.
(Also, you can't really see the score, but that's the game with my husband, who is beating me 406 to 191.)
We've chosen an agent, signed the paperwork, open home dates and time have been arranged. Now for the busy bit of making the place look as good as possible.
