I have always believed in planning my photography trips well in advance. This is mainly due to the fact that as I am getting older, extended vacations are difficult to come by and since my preferred mode of transportation for photo trips is by road getting free to do a proper trip gets rarer by the year. But fall of 2016 was interesting, as usual in that year during fall I was starting a new project and my wife had an important deadline to meet for work that made taking any time off seemed like an impossible scenario. But I jumped the gun a bit and bought some books about Colorado and started to map some of the destinations I wanted to see. My wife soon jumped in the fun and this became our destressing activity in the evenings.

As we started to visualize the trip and plot a plan, I got a job offer that would allow me to take a break in between jobs, and we decided to take the trip immediately after my wife’s deadline passed. Now, this was a week past the peak foliage peeping time for Colorado that year, but we got about 10 days for the trip and had one of the best road trips in while. This shot was taken near the iconic maroon Bells location, we were driving back after a sunrise shot when I noticed this small pool by the road. I knew that I have a better chance of getting a clean reflection shot here, especially with the grove of aspens around. I used a polarizing filter and a 3 stop ND filter to balance my exposure and stitched together two landscape shots to get a squarish composition. My original plan was to get the whole pond in the composition but there were some elements including an electric post that forced me to crop out some of those unsightly elements.

I've been getting huge inspiration on low light photography these days. I see it on books, some flickr photos, magazines, posters and so on. So I decided to challenge myself and start a project. This is my first attempt and I'm quite motivated with the results.

update: This is all natural light btw, from a window with orange coverings. Next time maybe I might try wireless flash.

Starting in 2009, 103 artists were secretly escorted into the space to create works of art, encompassing installations, paintings, aerosol, murals and more. Each artist was given one full night to work on their piece. At the end of the project, the original entrance to the station was removed.

First of many (?) steel beams inserted. Not part of the new construction, rather inserted to prevent the building from falling into the hole due to undermining.

Living in New York, and having developed an appreciation for artificial horizons, i've always wanted to photograph this particular one is this particular light. i love the red bright flaming up, and the neutral white turning warm, and am happy to say that this shot turned out exactly as i'd planned it... the airplane accentuating the direction is a bonus.

I think that the tree on the right here is the Horse Chestnut - Aesculus hippocastanum (Hippocastanaceae) - A large deciduous tree with a massive, domed crown. For those who have travelled with me over recent months we have often seen it especially in England, with its white 'candle-like' flowers.

These are my six beautiful children. They love to eat your film regularly, but I'm afraid I may not be able to afford to with so many eager mouths to feed.

Well, here it goes. Day 1 of the 365 day project.

I was trying to get used to my Aiptek video/camera thingy-majig. Got to get used to the settings and it can be sort of shaky. I also gave the photo some color in photoshop. It was really washed out beforehand.

Well if nothing else the war in Ukraine has taught us

how badly tanks stand up to modern anti-tank weapons. War doesn't happen the way it did 80 years ago.

And in the news today -- the saga goes on:

The UK government must either scrap or fix a troubled modern armoured vehicle programme - or risk compromising national security, a report has said.

A review of the Ajax project by the Public Accounts Committee concluded a "litany of failures" had led to the years-long delays.

So far no operational vehicles have been delivered, despite the 12-year-old project already costing over £3bn.

(£3,000,000,000)

Its already cost three billion pounds!

By comparison 40 grams of Sarin - enough to kill upwards of 75,000 people, would cost about £3,000 to make and the FGM-148 Javelin, a U.S.-made anti-tank weapon costs about $176,000, a Russian T-90 tank costs about £2 million.

Someone in the "Ministry of Defence" needs to get up to date.

Here , I am using toothpicks to close the nail holes on the tracks.

Winter can be brutal, but for some it is unbearable. Take this man for instance, who trying to go about his business on a Saturday finds that life is actually quite complicated when you cannot breathe because of the air quality.

We believe in clean air for everyone. The right to breathe is, well, right.

Spent several hours today listening to an excellent reading of A Christmas Carol. The performers were excellent at distinguishing characters and capturing the spirit of this timeless classic. There are Aiofe Lorefield; Gloriana Maartens, Corwyn Allen, and Caledonia Skytower. Through their performance, they raised over 68,000 Lindens for Reading is Fundamental. I highly recommend visiting this sim over the holidays and into early January. Beautifully appointed with lots to do. maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Dickens%20Project/63...

This will be my last entry for this project. I have started my own group, "One Object 365 Days Project" and I am having trouble keeping up with both groups. As you can see from the photo, my son has started back to school, (we live by the almighty planner now), and I am finding it increasingly difficult to come up with a photo a day that I am proud of and want to upload. I find myself just doing whatever I have to so I can get a decent shot for the day. That is not what I want my flickr experience to be, I want it to be fun and I want to upload photos that I am proud of and want to share with the world. I am not doing that these days, it feels more like work. So my "Project 365" journey ends here. I will still be uploading a photo a day of a single tree to my other 365 days group (inspired by this one.) So stop by and check out the tree from time to time if you're interested! ~smile~ Good luck to all of you, and I hope your 365 days are great ones!

My brother's wife got a new car today...

I recently completed a 1 to 100 project where the idea was to take a photo of objects displaying every number from 1 to 100. It was a lot harder than it sounds and I had to create many of the subjects. Here is number 32. I had a lot of fun doing this and recommend dreaming up projects like this to stimulate creativity.

Germany - Lubeck: Am Koburg.

Heiigen-Geist-Hospital - Holy Ghost Hospital.

St. Jakobi Church

The building in the centre of this picture is of the east end of St. Jakobi.

The Fleche on the top marks the central crossing (this is often marked by the central tower in English churches).

St. Jakobi arose about 1276 from the reconstruction of an older Roman basilica.

The building on the left is the side of Heiligen-Geist-Hospital - Holy Ghost Hospital - we shall be exploring its riches tomorrow!

The building on the right Hollywood Restaurant.

See where this picture was taken. [?]

Today I took many photos and I had trouble choosing which one is the "photo of the day"... That's good!!

I ended choosing this one. And it is the only one I took without thinking about the 365 project: I was only playing with the sunset light and these flowers to try new things but I love the colours and light in this photo. The translucent leaves or flowers are amazing.

i really don't like the new flickr.
