`sasrai’ appeal turned into demand of seven billion `Consume With Care’
To
Mr. Achim Steiner, Executive Director
Attention: Mr. Naysan Sahba
Acting Director of the Division of Communications Public Information and Spokesperson
Office of the Executive Director
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
Nairobi, Kenya
Subject: Appeal to have a resolution to hang sasrai banner for one week June 03 to 07 at each UN related office gate across the globe in honor of World Environment Day.
Dear Sir
Greetings from sasrai-Movement
We are in 100% agreement with UNEP belief influencing consumption and production patterns at the local level would have a significant impact at the global level, because resource efficiency facilitates the transition towards a green economy and global sustainable development.
Since 2004 our appeal is we must get each one caring to each particle of resource. sasrai-Movement aimed at every person would have a mindset `save a bit in every step’. Street beggar to state driver will save resource no matter how small it is. Last 11 years we have tried our level best to disseminate the message to people from all works of life.We are thankful to the voter and UNEP for the slogan ‘Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care’. We consider this is institutionalization of our appeal.
To attain the resilient and resource efficient cities; sustainable transport and mobility; and integrated solid waste management, globe in need of resource efficient individual, institution, organization finally the government. To materialize the utmost need, we are in needing voice from each corner of globe. Since 2011 we approached to the honorable minister for environment and forest & minister for education of Bangladesh to have an initiative to keep a sasrai banner in each educational institution in honor of world environment day. Based on our appeal honorable Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong passed a request to all Deputy Commissioner of his division to do the same.
Bringing behavioral and attitudinal change is the toughest job and we have no chance to spare a single second. Nature demands absolute care that includes concerted, cooperative and collaborative effort. UNEP could have an initiative to get each UN office and official - resource efficient first. And keeping a sasrai banner at each office gate across the globe for one week June 03 to 07 in honor of World Environment Day could be the first step.
Scientists estimate that humans will consume twice as many resources as the planet can support by 2050. At the rate things are going, the Earth in the coming decades could cease to be a “safe operating space” for human beings. The Planet is in Need of Each Creature Equality, Gender Equality and `sasrai’ Living (Stop Consumption Slavery or Stop Advertisement Administered Lifestyle). Albert Einstein opine "Those who have the privilege to know have the duty to act."
Kindest Regards

sasrai-Movement
NB.
a. Since 2004 we worked without any financial assistance from any donor. We volunteered aimed at better earth for each creature. We believe voluntarism needed to be Prudent, Provident, Proficient and Relentless, Fearless, Greedless. We must have zeal to offer a habitable earth to our next generation. We owe to our next generation to offer the earth as we received and we vow to be unswerving, unshakeable.
b. Humanity in need of Climate Responsible Community, Climate Compatible Development. sasrai ONLY THE PATH TO SAVE MOTHER PLANET EARTH, NATURE. sasrai only the path to Eliminate Racial Discrimination - End violence against WOMEN and CHILDREN. sasrai only the path to end POVERTY, VULNERABILITY, HUNGER, DISASTER, CLIMATE Threat. Each second, minute, hour day needed to be spent considering earth, environment and humanity. We must get each child caring to each particle of food and resource. Wish the Peace, Justice, Dignity and Rights for each - save a bit, reserve, preserve, rejuvenate and conserve resources.
c. Scientist Opine
Earth is halfway to being inhospitable to life
We have already crossed four “planetary boundaries.” They are the extinction rate; deforestation; the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere; and the flow of nitrogen and phosphorous (used on land as fertilizer) into the ocean. Scientist shown human activities — economic growth, technology, consumption — are destabilizing the global environment,”
"Human security will be progressively threatened as the climate changes," the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCCC) warned in its overview report. The Pentagon agrees. "Rising global temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, climbing sea levels, and more extreme weather events will intensify the challenges of global instability, hunger, poverty and conflict,"
Scientists estimate that humans will consume twice as many resources as the planet can support by 2050. At the rate things are going, the Earth in the coming decades could cease to be a “safe operating space” for human beings.

Africa Will Starve and Asia Will Drown in 30 Years Due to Climate Change
People in Asia and the Pacific are four times more likely to be affected by natural disaster than in Africa and 25 times more than in Europe or North America?
Global warming could cause an 18 percent drop in world food production by 2050
15 Cities Threatened by Climate Change
The World Bank alarm bells are just the latest to sound about the havoc climate change and man-made global warming will cause to the planet.
The World Health Organization predicts that climate change will cause 250,000 additional deaths per year around the globe between 2030 and 2050, primarily from malaria, diarrhea, heat exposure and malnutrition.
On January 30, 2019, City of Laredo Municipal Court Judge Jesus M. Dominguez announced the First Amnesty Program allowing citizens to clear their outstanding warrant and traffic violations. Judge Dominguez is offering the amnesty program from February 19, 2019 through March 8, 2019. This includes all cases pending, capias warrants, arrest warrants, capias pro-fines, and DPS Omni warrants.
Municipal Court clerks are available to help the public with any information they may need. Individuals that would like to know the total amount of fines due before the amnesty program begins may visit the court, located at 4610 Maher Avenue. Individuals with outstanding warrants that appear for court will not be arrested. In order to qualify for this program and possibly be cleared of the outstanding debt, individuals must be prepared to pay at least half of the amount of their outstanding fine. However, final determination of the amount to be paid is on a case-by-case basis as decided by Judge Dominguez.
It is very important that the public take advantage of the amnesty program. Municipal Court does have a warrant division that issues and executes warrants on a daily basis; therefore, it is always best that individuals visit the court and take care of their outstanding cases.
Reminder to all, Municipal Court holds court sessions twice a day, morning and afternoon. Individuals that would like to take care of their outstanding cases may appear for court between 8am - 9am for the morning session, or between 12pm – 1pm for the afternoon session.

“Test sphere mounted on the end of the third stage of the Vanguard rocket at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The 3¼-pound, 6.4-inch sphere, designed and built at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D. C., has six antennas and two radio transmitters capable of sending signals to tracking station on the ground hundreds of miles away. The six rectangular objects on the surface of the aluminum sphere are solar batteries which will power the radio transmitters.”
Note the reflections in the satellite…a parking lot, with cars visible. So, possibly taken at the NRL prior to shipment to Cape Canaveral, or somewhere on Cape Canaveral (other than LC-18) during preflight testing, inspection, transport…or not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Much more amusingly...although it might not've been "flight-rated", and merely used here to temporarily secure the satellite, check out the good, old-fashioned hose clamp! Regardless, I LOVE IT.
Hmm...note in this diagram that the "shaft" to which the hose clamp is attached, is indeed part of the satellite/launch vehicle, labeled as the "SEPARATION MECHANISM". Maybe it did fly:

I remember seeing this photograph, or variants of it, in countless books, magazines, etc., from childhood on. Hence, a very nostalgic photograph for me. And now, seeing it for the first time at such high resolution, a very nice photo indeed.
Additionally, per the NSSDCA website, at:
nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/nmc/spacecraftDisplay.do?id=VAGT3
"Vanguard Test Vehicle 3 (TV3) was the first U.S. attempt to launch a satellite into orbit around the Earth. It was a small satellite designed to test the launch capabilities of a three-stage launch vehicle and study the effects of the environment on a satellite and its systems in Earth orbit. It also was to be used to study micrometeor impacts and to obtain geodetic measurements through orbit analysis. The IGY Vanguard satellite program was designed with the purpose of launching one or more Earth orbiting satellites during the International Geophysical Year (IGY).
At launch on 6 December 1957 at 16:44:34 UT at the Atlantic Missile Range in Cape Canaveral, Florida, the booster ignited and began to rise but about 2 seconds after liftoff, after rising about a meter, the rocket lost thrust and began to settle back down to the launch pad. As it settled against the launch pad the fuel tanks ruptured and exploded, destroying the rocket and severely damaging the launch pad. The Vanguard (Vanguard 1A) satellite was thrown clear and landed on the ground a short distance away with its transmitters still sending out a beacon signal. The satellite was damaged, however, and could not be reused. It is now on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

The exact cause of the accident was never determined, presumably it was due to a fuel leak between the fuel tank and the rocket engine, possibly due to a loose connection in a fuel line or low fuel pump inlet pressure allowing some of the burning fuel in the thrust chamber to leak back into the fuel tank."

Speaking to a packed audience of Yale alumni, early American history buffs and JHC members on December 3rd, Yale Professor and Hamilton scholar Joanne Freeman deftly proved that "Dirty, Nasty Politics" is not a new phenomenon in America. Drawing upon her own exhaustive research of primary congressional papers and 18th century diaries, she contrasted the measured, respectful decorum of George Washington's presidency with the almost laughably subversive, reputation-smearing tactics of Federalists and Republicans more than two centuries ago. Using the campaign of 1800 as a lens, Freeman explained how former friends and nation builders, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, became bitter adversaries when their policy views collided.
So desperate were these two patriots to steer the republic in opposite directions, she said, that their attacks upon one another got very personal. Freeman revealed how reputations were smeared with zestful diatribes about hidden agendas and moral integrity; Jefferson fans decried Adams to be a fool and wannabe monarch while broadsides printed by the Adams camp inflamed public opinion by suggesting that voting for Jefferson was blasphemy "...the only question to be asked by every American, laying his hand on his heart, is 'Shall I continue in allegiance to GOD - AND A RELIGIOUS PRESIDENT; or impiously declare for JEFFERSON - AND NO GOD!!!'" The secret foreign sympathies of the two candidates were also cause for alarm - Jefferson too easily embraced the French Revolution whereas Adams was rumored to want to attack the French and arrange for his daughter to marry into George III's family. But perhaps the most outrageous stunt during the highly negative campaign was an attempt by the Adams faction to kill Jefferson's ascent by spreading the rumor that he was dead!
Other members of the founding brotherhood like Alexander Hamilton were drawn into the intrigue. Hamilton brazenly asked fellow New Yorker John Jay to manipulate the voting process mid-election but Jay ignored him. In the middle of this insanity, Jay was "a voice of reason!" according to Freeman.
With her obvious passion and thorough grasp of the political hurricanes of the 1790s, the audience could readily see why Broadway director and Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda admires Freeman. Freeman's book "Affairs of Honor" as well as her scholarship on nuances of this politically tumultuous period absolutely inspired Miranda when he wrote his new smash musical; he called her collection of Hamilton's writings a "touchstone."
The free talk was co-sponsored by the Yale Westchester Alumni Association and generously funded with a grant from Con Edison. It is just one of several programs in early American History on JHC's 2015 - 2016 calendar. Historian Joseph Ellis is scheduled to speak in the spring about his new book "The Quartet."
