The North Charleston Police Department implemented Project S.T.A.N.D (Stop and Take A New Direction) aimed at not just arresting low level narcotics dealers with little or no prior criminal history but to go a step further and help those involved in the activity change their lives for the better. This is program aimed at reducing recidivism through working on all aspects of the criminals’ lives.
This project was the focus of a Dateline NBC special entitled “Intersection” which aired on March 14, 2013.

•Franciscan Boys Home – Bethlehem
Boys, 6-18 years of age, live at the Franciscan Boys Home six days a week and return to their families on Sunday. The boys come from dysfunctional families residing in Bethlehem and receive psychological and emotional assistance. The FFHL runs the home for boys in a caring place where neighborhood youth can feel the safety and nurturing needed to survive.
FFHL has hired a full time staff which includes a cook, several teachers, a child psychologist, a social worker, a housekeeper, a club supervisor, as well as maintenance and security personnel. Both a Franciscan priest and a Franciscan nun serve as Directors of the Boys Home. The boys come from many local communities including Bethlehem, Beit Sahour, and Beit Jala, and attend the local Catholic school. The costs of salaries of staff, food, maintenance of the building, and yearly school tuition are fully funded by the FFHL.

The CSG Community came together for Thanksgiving on Tuesday, Nov. 25. The program featured musical performances from all four divisions and remarks from Head of School Jennifer Ciccarelli and Student Speaker Aisha Iftikhar '15.

A 4-day-old baby boy is treated for respiratory failure with a life-saving technology called Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). He is the 1000th ECMO patient to be treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, which houses California’s largest ECMO Program. Most importantly, thanks to the ECMO technology and a team of specialists, the baby is expected full recovery.
I was inspired by the logo for the Milwaukee Bicycle Co. to create a new logo for the Bike Program.

A través del programa social de Educación, la CROC en el municipio de Benito Juárez llevó a cabo el 12 de febrero, la entrega de 129 certificados de primaria y secundaria en el Hotel Le Meridien.
El evento fue encabezado por nuestro dirigente nacional, Dip. Fed. Isaías González Cuevas, quien señaló que la educación es la palanca del desarrollo humano y social, ya que con ella los ciudadanos pueden aspirar a mejores puestos de trabajo y por tanto a mejores salarios.
Destacó que una de las metas es que los trabajadores y sus familias terminen el bachillerato con la opción de continuar con sus estudios superiores, lo cual se está logrando gracias a los convenios que la organización ha realizado con escuelas de nivel superior, como es el caso de la Universidad del Sur, en la cual contamos con 286 compañeros.
Además, para fomentar la educación en la sociedad, la CROC ha trabajado de la mano con el gobierno en la apertura de plazas comunitarias en los diferentes municipios "con Félix Arturo González Canto, Gobernador de Quintana Roo, hemos impulsado este rubro tan importante, un trabajo que continuaremos haciendo con Roberto Borge Angulo durante el gobierno entrante " manifestó el líder nacional croquista.
Por su parte, el secretario de educación en el Estado, Eduardo Patrón Azueta expresó que la CROC tiene un fuerte compromiso social, y esta entrega de certificados es un ejemplo de ello, de modo que la formación es el mejor legado que podemos dejar a las nuevas generaciones "y el único camino para la superación personal y social, porque ella nos brinda la expectativa de acceder a mejores oportunidades laborales".
Durante su intervención, el secretario de enlace social del C.E.N. de la CROC, Mario Machuca Sánchez declaró que de acuerdo a la encomienda del Dip. Fed. Isaías González Cuevas, en el año 2010 se entregaron 728 certificados en la Plaza Comunitaria Donceles 28.
"Tan solo en el mes de enero, 90 compañeros recibieron sus certificados de secundaria y 39 de primaria, lo que nos indica que este nuevo periodo lograremos superar la meta".
De igual forma el coordinador regional del IEEA, Ing. Jesús Leonel Sandy Juárez felicitó a los graduados, destacando que de esta manera se ve reflejado el esfuerzo y la dedicación invertidos en la educación, así como el compromiso de los líderes sindicales que encabezan la Organización tanto en el país, como en el Estado y el Municipio.
Al finalizar este importante evento, el Comité Ejecutivo Nacional, los diversos secretarios generales seccionales y delegados se trasladaron a otro salón del hotel sede para presentar el informe de actividades de la Coordinación Sureste, correspondiente a los meses de enero y febrero.

Elementary school students create endothermic and exothermic reactions, make super slime to take home, experience a chemical reaction that produces light without heat, and more.
"It's Simply Chemistry" is one of six COSI On Wheels programs that travel throughout Ohio and neighboring states.

During a Native American history-themed sleepover at the National Archives in Washington, DC, 101 kids and their grown-ups spent the night enjoying history-related activities, learning from special guests actor Martin Sensmeier, Jim Thorpe historians Bob Wheeler and Flo Ridlon, and Native American storyteller Perry Ground. After sleeping over night in the Rotunda, participants enjoyed a pancake breakfast made by the Archivist of the United States, David S. Ferriero, on October 14, 2018.

8-year-old Armanie, a 3rd grader at Glen Iris Elementary School, holds up a shape she made as part of "Don’t Get Puzzled with Engineer BHM," a new Birmingham Public Library STEM program that debuted September 30 at the Titusville Branch Library. Participating students from grades 3 through 12 will learn basic skills related to engineering and 3D printing through creating 3D objects/puzzles, and learn basic concepts found in geometry and design thinking, such as spatial reasoning, dimensions, turning 2D planes to 3D, and prototyping designs.
Engineer BHM is sponsored by Infosys Foundation USA’s 2021 Infy Maker Award. BPL received $10,000 grant in June to teach young people skills in electrical engineering, coding and other STEM areas.
