Op 10-10-2021 werd bekend gemaakt dat mC9002 beter bekend als ''De Jaap'' overgedragen zal worden aan de Stichting 2454 CREW. Op 22-02-2022 werden dan na maanden wachten en voorbereiden de eerste transport voorbereidingen getroffen door het halen van een SGMMns wagen in Apeldoorn, aangezien mC9002 al bijna 10 jaar aan de kant staat zal deze tussen remwagens geplaatst gaan worden voor het transport naar Roosendaal. Op woensdag 23-02-2022 reed Motorpost 3029 samen met de SGMMns en de US verblijfswagen naar Haarlem om aldaar het transport gereed te maken voor de reis naar Roosendaal. Helaas pakte het allemaal wat anders uit aangezien er een lager warm liep tijdens het rangeren op het NedTrain terrein te Haarlem. Aangezien dit eerst opgelost moest worden werd het transport wat eigenlijk op maandag 28-02-2022 gepland stond uitgesteld tot dat het probleem verholpen was. We zijn zo'n anderhalve maand verder als het probleem eindelijk opgelost is en op Donderdag 14-04-2022 mC9002 ''Jaap'' weer op zijn eigen draaistellen gezet wordt en gereed wordt gemaakt voor het transport. In alle vroegte op Vrijdag 15-04-2022 wordt er vanuit Amersfoort naar Haarlem gereden met Motorpost 3029 en de US verblijfswagen om in Haarlem het transport vertrekgereed te maken, met een vertraging van ongeveer 15 minuten in verband met een bezet spoor in Den Bosch passeert Motorpost 3029 met Mat'24 mC9002 ''Jaap'' en de US verblijfswagen welke als remwagen dient als trein 70491 Etten-Leur op weg naar Roosendaal waar de mC9002 weer dienstvaardig gemaakt zal worden.

(I feel like there should be some back story of mystery and intrigue to this shot. Problem is, when I hear "Dingle" all I can think of is a funny rhyme my uncle taught us as kids, "Hey dingle-dangle, dingle-dangle-dee. Never let your dingle....dangle in your tea." Must've been a family thing - my dad frequently made up quite similar nonsense poems - and I have to admit, us 'kids' have continued the quirky legacy.)

January.
January gets a bad rap. Yeah.... the holidays that most people look forward to are over... the next paid holiday (at least in my world) is Memorial Day! Most of us have eaten our way through the holidays and have now made ridiculous resolutions about losing weight, exercising and getting healthy... along with numerous other resolutions that rarely survive the first month of the year. It's cold. It's dark.... it's dark when we get up and dark when we get out of work. It's like an endless Monday.... (well, for most people... I, personally love Mondays, so that's not really how I feel!) ... 31 days straight of
Mondays for everyone else. And speaking of Mondays... and survival... here's another fun fact (almost as fun as the one about owls eating the heads off of pheasants).... The third Monday of January is regarded as the most depressing day of the year. It actually has the highest suicide rate of any other day of the year. Yup.... did you know that? And it's coming.... I'm going to survive Monday... because, hey! it's my favorite day of the week... now, Tuesday... that's another story altogether.
Anyway.... there are good things about January. It's a "catch up" month. We get to do things that we didn't have time to do because we were prepping for the holidays. It's dark... so we get to come home from work and put pajamas on at 7:00 (some of us are even asleep by 7:30!!) So, we get to catch up on sleep. It's cold... so we get to use wool.... wool blankets, wool scarves, wool sweaters, wool fingerless gloves. I love wool. Oh...and we get to wear many layers... which hide the extra pounds that have been added due to all of the chocolate covered goodies that appeared in the kitchen at work during all of December. It's cold and dark... so it gives us an excuse to curl up under blankets, with a good book, and go to sleep early. And if there's something you are supposed to do, that you don't want to.... you can pray for snow to get out of it... or just use the excuse... it's too cold. And if you do go out, like when I go to Waterloo Village every day...you have the place all to yourself (because it's cold... and it's dark!!) ... but having the place all to myself... PERFECT!! Just the way I like it! There... don't you feel better already? Yeah, I have no problem with January, and it's almost over anyway (although I have several other things to whine and complain about that aren't even close to being over... ugh)
We gaan weer even verder met de fotoreeks uit Duitsland van twee maanden terug. Op 25 september beloofde het voor het grootste deel van de dag zonnig weer te worden. Zoals wel vaker in het Maintal, hing er ‘s morgens een dik pak mist over de streek. De zon had even tijd nodig om door te breken, maar brak gelukkig tijdig door voor deze topper van de voormiddag. De avond voordien kregen we reeds de melding dat de volgende dag de 189 912 ‘Cream’ van Lokomotion richting het zuiden zou rijden. Deze zou door het Maintal komen met Paneuropa-shuttle 43827 van Bremen-Grolland naar Verona Q.E..
De ochtend werd na het kopen van een ontbijt gestart in Gambach, tussen de wijnranken. Als bij wonder vond de eigenaar het geen probleem dat we ons tussen de wijnranken bevonden. Gek genoeg mochten we nog enkele druiven proeven (die trouwens best lekker waren)! Ondanks de mist konden we er toch enkele leuke foto’s maken. Intussen ging men volop aan het werk om de druiven te plukken.
Met de suncalc-app hadden we bekeken waar we zouden moeten staan voor deze trein. Een plekje nabij Karlstadt zou voor deze trein ideaal zijn. Alvorens we hierheen reden, namen we nog even plaats in bij Himmelstadt. Bij aankomst merkten we een hele zwerm fotografen op. Zou er wat speciaals op komst zijn? Zo snel als we konden, gingen we ook ter plekke staan. Achteraf bleken de fotografen ook voor deze BR189 hier te staan.
Na een dik kwartier stonden de drie fotografen met ladder en hoogstatief paraat. Het werd plots behoorlijk druk met treinen vanuit het noorden. We waren blijkbaar net op het goeie moment aangekomen. Ook de Paneuropa-shuttle was al diverse keren gemeld onderweg. Tot onze verbazing kwam hij een pak vroeger door dan we hadden verwacht. Het ging nog net goed in Himmelstadt met de zonnestand.
We zien de 189 912 van Lokomotion Gesellschaft für Schienentraktion mbH voorbij Himmelstadt passeren en voor ruim tien lenzen poseren met Paneuropa-shuttle 43827 uit Bremen-Grolland naar Verona-Quadrante Europa.

With CN rebuilding 90s power left and right, the Coronado Subdivision is slowly starting revert to what it was long before my time - a line where SD40s ruled the rails. The big, fancy, modern AC units are too big for the over century-old branch line, leaving CN with little to no choice but to run the vintage power. I, personally, have no problem with that.

Exposure was a problem but this guy was practically in my face and so with a few quick snaps i still got him in his springtime glory !

Der Testbetrieb am Ceneri Basistunnel geht weiter und dafür wurde am 23.04.2020 der Test-ICE mit den Triebköpfen 410 101 + 102 überführt. Wegen technischen Problemen am ICE erhielt die Überführung durch die Schweiz mehrere Stunden Verspätung und fuhr statt früh morgens im dunkel neu bei bestem Abendlicht über die Südbahn. Mit einem Rückschuss hielt ich die Überführung bei Wohlen fest.

Door werkzaamheden in Muizen werd ook vorig weekend het treinverkeer gedeeltelijk omgeleid via lijn 13. Op zaterdag moest ik echter werken, waardoor ik niet kon gaan fotograferen. Op zondag was ik wel thuis, maar dan is het treinverkeer eerder beperkt. Soms een paar treinen in de voormiddag, maar vooral in de late namiddag en avond komt het pas echt op gang.
Rond tienen zag ik een melding verschijnen van een trein van DB Cargo in de regio rond Dendermonde. Deze zou via Mechelen en Lier naar Bressoux rijden. Ik twijfelde even, maar besloot toch om snel de locomotief op te zoeken. Toen ik zag dat het een witte Traxx van Euro Cargo Rail was, nam ik direct mijn camera en fietste naar de Boshoek. Het was intussen al van de zomer van 2018 geleden dat ik nog zo’n Traxx voor de lens had gekregen. Deze kans kon ik dus niet laten liggen!
Zo gezegd zo gedaan. Na een kort fietstochtje kwam ik aan in de Boshoek en positioneerde me langs het veld naast de overweg. Het was nog even wachten voordat het rijpad richting Lier werd aangelegd en het sein op twee-geel sprong. Dat wachten was eigenlijk niet erg. Tijdens deze eerste echte lentedag was het heerlijk vertoeven in het zonnetje. Ik was duidelijk niet alleen, getuige de vele wandelaars, joggers en fietsers. Gelukkig ligt het fietspad aan de andere kant van het spoor.
Na een tijdje ging ik nog eens kijken op de overweg. Een geel-groen sein aan de ene kant, en een witte Traxx in de verte aan de andere kant. Ik trok maar snel terug het veld. Omdat ik nogal haastig was vertrokken, had ik enkel mijn 35mm-primelens op zak. Op zich geen probleem, dan moest ik maar wat zoomen door de benen te gebruiken ;-) . En zo’n primelens is nu net dat tikkeltje scherper en helderder dan een zoomlens.
De klok slaat 10:34 wanneer de 186 174 de landelijke zondagsrust komt verstoren. Met een lege cokestrein is het geheel onderweg naar het Waalse Bressoux. Na ongeveer tweeëneenhalf jaar had ik zo eindelijk nog eens een Traxx van Euro Cargo Rail op foto. Na nog even wat bij te kletsen met een collega-fotograaf, die nét op tijd aankwam om de trein te fotograferen, ging ik tevreden terug naar huis.
Hmm! Just having White Balance issues in Lightroom 6! I am VERY new to this programme and needed to check my EXIF info. Please excuse! Hah! I see I shot this with Auto WB. Could THAT be my problem because my WB never seems really out of whack and I cannot get the choices to show up on LR - sunny, cloudy, shade, tungsten etc! even though I have imported Raw files!! I'll work it out but if anyone has any brilliant suggestions, please advise! Thanks.

2 blue hour versions and one daytime overview. This place is definitely off the beaten track, and photogenic enough. One big problem is it's comatose, if not dead. No gas station, no supermarket around, and there was no restaurant open that night, the only sign of life was another hotel that had a restaurant that was open only for guests, but they reluctantly let me in. My hotel was seemingly hibernating, there was no staff, I picked up the key at a local travel agency and dropped it off with minimal human contact.

This image of presumable someone's home or holiday home (most jealous) is as taken - dead centre, dead level (oh alright... I've cropped it a little but it's still central and level). Captured on the way back from Riva del Garda via Limone to Malcesine, this house is just north of Limone.

Buddy at about 3 months going on 4. He likes the fireplace - in fact, one of his first kitten moves was to push his way through the closed screen and get stuck behind it. Since he was also chilling in the wood bin, I just put a kitty bed there for a little more comfort. He's doubled his weight, btw, to 2 lbs.
Based on current Flickr friends activity feed problems (mine at least), who knows if more than a handful of folks will see this cat follow-on to the cheetah I posted yesterday. I have logged a trouble ticket.
Alle bisherigen Versuche, das Snowball-Problem chemisch in den Griff zu bekommen, brachten nicht den erhofften Erfolg. Der Spezialentwickler für Fomatone hatte mit einigen früheren Chargen funktioniert, mit den letzten Chargen kam die Frustration zurück.
Versuche der letzten Tage deuten darauf hin, dass die aktuellen Chargen eine starke Überbelichtung nicht mehr verkraften. Um den Grad der Überbelichtung zu bestimmen, ist der erste Schritt ein konventionell entwickelter Print (normalerweise schätze ich die Belichtungszeit für Lithprints).

Nr. 1 Fomatone 132 (Charge 080348-01) in Meritol.
Nr. 2 eine mindestens 25 Jahre alte Charge Fomatone (014326/1 exp. X.2002) Überbelichtung für Lith 3,5 Blenden, (15+15+5+700 ml) Entwicklungszeit 8 Minuten.
Nr. 3 Fomatone 132 (Charge 080348-01) Überbelichtung +1,5 Blenden (30+30+10+600 ml) Entwicklungszeit 6,5 Minuten – Ergebnis: etwas farbiger als Meritol, aber kein wirklicher Litheffekt. Ein stärker verdünnter Entwickler (wie bei Nr. 2) würde zu einer längeren Entwicklungszeit mit erwartbarer Snowball Bildung führen.
Für eine höhere Farbigkeit wird eine längere Belichtungszeit benötig, was dann aber eine höhere Entwicklerverdünnung erfordert oder mehr bremsendes D.
NR. 4 Überbelichtung +2 Blenden (30+30+10+800 ml ) Entwicklungszeit 7 Minuten – Ergebnis: heftige Snowballs.
Fazit: Fomatone-Lithprints mit hoher Farbigkeit, wie früher selbstverständlich, sind zur Zeit nicht möglich.
Aus aktueller Fertigung bleibt also nur noch Foma Retrobrom für farbige Lithprints.
Nr. 5 Retrobrom 152 Überbelichtung 3 bis 3,5 Blenden (30+30+10+800 ml) Entwicklungszeit 10 Minuten – auch bei diesem Papier können sich Snowballs zeigen, allerdings erst bei längeren Entwicklungszeiten, oder stärkerer Überbelichtung.
All previous attempts to chemically solve the snowball problem have not been as successful as hoped. The special developer for Fomatone worked with some earlier batches, but with the latest batches, frustration returned.
Tests conducted over the last few days indicate that the current batches can no longer cope with severe overexposure. To determine the degree of overexposure, the first step is to produce a conventionally developed print.
From left to right.
No. 1 Fomatone 132 (batch 080348-01) in Meritol.
No. 2 A batch of Fomatone at least 25 years old (014326/1 exp. X.2002) Overexposure for lith 3.5 f-stops, (15+15+5+700 ml) Development time 8 minutes.
No. 3 Fomatone 132 (batch 080348-01) overexposure +1.5 f-stops (30+30+10+600 ml) development time 6.5 minutes – result: slightly more colourful than Meritol, but no real lith effect. A more diluted developer (as in No. 2) would result in a longer development time with expected snowball formation.
A longer exposure time is required for higher colour saturation, but this then requires a higher developer dilution or more slowing Lith D.
No. 4 Overexposure +2 f-stops (30+30+10+800 ml) development time 7 minutes – Result: severe snowballs.
Conclusion: Fomatone lith prints with high colour saturation, as was once commonplace, are currently not possible.
This leaves only Foma Retrobrom for colour lith prints from current production.
No. 5 Retrobrom 152 Overexposure 3 to 3.5 f-stops (30+30+10+800 ml) development time 10 minutes – snowballs can also appear with this paper, but only with longer development times or stronger overexposure.
The problem with me when I get out is I keep going and going so it was nice to be forced to slow things down a bit

Für den kleinen Gartenbaumläufer war es gar nicht so einfach zurück zum Nest zu fliegen, da die Sicht durch das Nistmatieral stark eingeschränkt war.
For the little treecreeper it was not so easy to fly back to the nest, because the visibility was strongly limited by the nesting material.

Visited a very quite Moraine Lake ("above" Lake Louise). the parking lot at L. Louise was full again so we decided to try our luck at Moraine. No problems parking there. You should have seen it last year, people lining up at the road entrance at 5:00AM to get up to the lake. Like it a bit better this way. ;( though mixed feelings about the reasons !! see date if you remember those times.

This was fun to prepare!!
In this image I used the long exposure technique. I wanted the viewer to get a sense of the rushing water that these bears stand in for long periods at a time. The problem with long exposure and wildlife photography is that wildlife rarely sits still. I had to time the bears movement just right to get this shot.
