El problema es que cuando uno está explicando algo al público o a un alumno, hay la tendencia a plantear la situación de la siguiente manera “yo tengo la clave, tú no la tienes. Ahora te la revelo, tú la apuntas, te la llevas a casa; y ya hemos resuelto nuestra relación”. Todos quedamos contentos. Esto no es así. Pensemos, por ejemplo, en el campo de la filosofía –en otros campos, en materias mucho más concretas y perfiladas, probablemente, uno puede aprender realmente cosas cerradas. Los filósofos, desde Kant, sabemos que sólo podemos enseñar a filosofar. No se puede enseñar filosofía en el sentido de decir: “tome, llévese este libro, apréndaselo de memoria, vuelva mañana y será filósofo”. Se puede enseñar a filosofar diciendo: “miren cómo lo hago yo y háganlo ustedes”.

With all the problems in Italy at the moment it reminded me of my last trip. The Alpe di Siusi in Italy Europe’s largest high-altitude meadow is covered in morning dew at dawn, moments later the sun melts it slowly away.

Snowdonia in such great weather must be as close to heaven one can be. Back from a wonderful walk, on superb paths and with a marvellous little cafe to visit on the way back home!
Snowdonia is a fantastick part of Britain for those who want to walk in beautiful landscape and be able to get great views with moderate efforts.
We have been here twice in April, and the weather have been rather nice both times. I can imagine how wonderful it must be in summer on a nice day. But I suppose it will be rather crowded here then. And the price of B/B and self catering much higher. And there is also the little problem that as a farmer is it impossble for me to go in summer :-)
There are many more photos from the walk down from Y-Garn, and our lunch at the amazing little cafe named... well, look through the pictures and find out what it is named. The name couldn't have been more wrong!

This is an image I likely wouldn't have posted, but after an interesting conversation with Flickr friend Flaushi & Friends on a swan she captured out on the ocean, I decided to share.
I had heard there was an owl at the lake not too far from work, so I decided to take a second trip (first trip was unsuccessful) after my shift to look for her. My daughter and faithful Border Collie, Bandit came along on the adventure.
After looking for a short time I spotted her out on the docks and walked around the shore trying to find a half decent angle to photograph her. In the meantime, a pair of mute swans swam over to see if we had brought them any goodies. I ignored them at first, since the owl had my full attention, but one of the two was quite persistent. He (or she) came right up to shore, stood up tall and was almost beak to nose with Bandit. Bandit was quite entertained and went into his usual OCD dance bouncing up and down on his hind legs and licking the ice at his feet. The swan wasn't at all phased and stretched out his long neck with an expectant look on his face. When he finally decided I had nothing for him, he swiftly ruffled his feathers and turned away from me. This was captured as he swam away glancing back with a look of disgust at my insensitivity for showing up empty handed.

Taken @ It all starts with a smile
On Wednesday, 6/02, many problems caused an outbound MVNKC train to be over 12 hours late leaving East St. Louis. That created a rare daylight train west of Mexico on Thursday. After being stumped the 1st 2 days with this line, we made up for it as we chased this train from Glasgow to Concord. At Slater the train would pickup cars and power and meet their counterpart at Blackburn. Here the job slowly works thru Marshall on the KCS Mexico Sub. The train is working from Venice, IL, to Kansas City, MO, over the old Gateway Western Trackage. A neat 1906 built Chicago and Alton Railroad depot still stands on the southside of town.
