After my disastrous mishap at Garsdale a few days prior of the same pairing with a similar snowplouigh move, I was relieved to capture it again tonight. Here is 47832 & 57601 making a brief crew change at Preston with two independent snowploughs bound for Fairwater having been maintained and stored at Eastriggs M.O.D.
The fog was extremely thick here so it's taken a lot of work to bring some contrast back, hence the somewhat washed appearance.

This is the old path to Thurlestone. However following a cliff collapse this path is now closed and there is a diversionary path around the back of the house in the distance which means you can't get a really good view of Thurlestone Rock which is a shame. Burgh Island and Bigbury on Sea are off to the left.

An extremely rare event for me, in fact I can tell you the last time I went out to dinner and it was on 11th September 2001.
And the reason I went out to dinner. Very good friends of mine who I have known forever flew in from California today and paid us a visit.
Lynn is American, Andy Oz and it was SO good to catch up with them. Lots of hugs and kisses because we all know I am a kissy, kissy, huggy, huggy person.
So, I took this photo just prior to going out to prove to myself more than anything that I still know how to dress up!

The former Radford United Church (1906) in Clarendon, Quebec, Canada.
On June 10, 1925, 70% of Presbyterian churches in Canada, the Methodist Church (of) Canada, and the Congregational Union of Canada entered into a union to form the United Church of Canada.
Prior to the formation of the United Church of Canada, this church was known as the Ebenezer Methodist Church (aka: Old Ebenezer Methodist Church).
See: www.patrimoine-culturel.gouv.qc.ca/rpcq/detail.do?methode...
And here: www.lieuxdeculte.qc.ca/fiche.php?LIEU_CULTE_ID=46165&...
That being said, my research indicates that there was a church with this very same name in Clarendon, in Radford, bearing the name Ebenezer Methodist Church, that was built around the mid 1900s. So perhaps the former once existed at this very location.
I have found no indications that this church is active, save for burials and funeral services.
In this shot, I focus stacked four images to create sharpness through to the fourth frame. The lighting is slightly different from the shot of the prior evening which was taken with a secondhand tilt-shift lens.
Interested in your comments about which is preferred.
With a pair of H2 painted BNSF SD70MAC’s on point and a quad set of MRL ACe’s on the rear, this LM (LAUMIS) is ready to rumble as they make their way uphill leaving Helena behind. About 2 minutes prior there was perfect evening light here, yet again the clouds were not in my favour…overall I still like how this shot turned out.

Prior to the Trident Farewell event in Chesterfield, the elderly deckers were given a little extra TLC the night before to ensure they looked the best for their send-off. This also included adding a "Trident Farewell" blind to the hanover consoles of those that are coming off fleet, demonstrated by 17009 1975HE (former S809BWC) and a few others in the background.

Prior to the Vivid lights coming at 6pm, I walked up the hill from my work to this walkway over the Warringah Freeway. Used my zoom fish eye @ 15mm to fill in the foreground as much as possible.
This Palladian Bridge is located at the National Trust’s Stowe Gardens near Buckingham and was built in 1755. Two other similar bridges are in National Trust properties in England, one at Prior Park near Bath and the other at Wilton Park in Wiltshire. All are listed buildings and as such have legal protection from demolition or major changes without the consent of the relevant Local Authority. The building in the background is the Gothic Temple, also a listed building and now let as holiday accommodation by the National Trust.
The main building at Stowe Gardens is Stowe House which dates from the early part of the 16th century when it was known as Stowe Manor and Rectory and owned by Sir George Gifford MP who on his death bequeathed it to his son Thomas Gifford. In 1589 the estate was purchased by John Temple and remained in the family until the house was completely rebuilt in 1683 by Sir Richard Temple.
Throughout the 18th and 19th century British and foreign aristocrats and royalty frequently stayed at the property. The list includes Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the King of Poland, the King of Denmark, Tsar Alexander of Russia and John Adams a future President of the United States. The list of famous people goes on and on.
Today the estate is owned and maintained by the National Trust who have spent a considerable amount of money restoring various structures in the gardens. Stowe House is now a private school but is still the most prominent and impressive building in the park.

On a day characterized by heavy rain and cloud cover, this snake was observed under a flat dolomite rock in the woodline of a southfacing dolomite glade. As seems to be usual of this species, this one was found after rain moved through the area half an hour prior. Few other snakes were observed likely due to low temperatures and lack of sun to warm up the ground.

The night prior to this I had told the girls how amazing it was to watch the sun rise in the mornings. Sending the girls to bed in their own tent while I slept under a fly I was sure it would simply be too cold for them when the time came.
I awoke to them yelling out 'Dad, Dad!'. I told them they could stay in their sleeping bags if they wanted because it was pretty cold...below 0c and still dark; Which is secretly what I wanted to do. But they returned saying "But what about the sunset?"
Well I couldn't back out now. Up in the faded light of the pre sunrise we dressed for the walk in. The excitement was building in anticipation of the spectacle and as we approached the spot about half a kilometre later the sun finally breached the horizon.
What a moment in time. The girls sat in silence and stared out admiring the view. And I stood back and admired them admiring the view. What a start to a day.

Prior to our departure from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), we were treated to an amazing sunset outside our port side window. So glad I thought to bring my silicone anti-reflective lens shade. They are well worth the $8 purchase price.

I don't have any winter landscape pics this year so here is a barley field around North Berwick, Scotland. We always go camping near North Berwick in late summer and there are always lots of barley fields around.
I'm a real sucker for blue on gold and I'm not sure why.

After 60085 had left Skipton bound for Leeds there was about four hours to kill before the next action I had spotted in the area. I missed the New Biggin in the timetable. Anyway I thought it would be a good time to explore the Embsay and Bolton Railway railway where No 7 and 37294 were found to be working services.
37294 seen approaching Prior Lane from Bolton Abbey. The siding to the left presumably serving a local quarry. Any clues would be welcomed.

Prior to this year, this was the only adult male Magnolia Green Jumper I'd seen. That was my first of the species, and since then I've found plenty of juveniles and some adult females. So I was delighted in May when I found not one but two adult males, right in close proximity to each other. Here's one as I spotted him under a leaf; you'll be seeing more of them.

Not only did the day begin on a high note but it ended rather nicely just prior to departing. The Brown Pelicans have returned and a couple seem to be setting up shop on the bayou. They usually outpace me in the canoe and I rarely get close enough to them before they depart into the distance but there were several around and a couple of them were fairly cooperative. This particular character was doing a bit of showing off as he searched for his next meal on Armand Bayou. That is Bay Area Park in the background in this capture.

Prior to departing for Canada, David had warned me about the difficulties in getting light up in the mountains. Heeding his warning Aaron and I decided to get up for sunrise well over an hour early to wait for the light show, or lack thereof. Partly cloudy skies greeted us at Vermilion Lakes as we patiently waited for blue hour to turn into burning sunrise colors. However, those reds and pinks we had hoped for never came as the southeastern horizon was blocked by excessive cloud cover.
After coming up fruitless past sunrise at Second Vermilion Lake I had Aaron drive us over to the Third Lake for a quick look and scouting trip before we headed back for breakfast. Just as we arrived at Third Vermilion Lake the sun began creeping above the horizon clouds and burst light beams into the sky. Both of us instantly grabbed our gear and raced out to the shore looking for compositions.
At first I was almost shooting aimlessly wanting to capture the fleeting light until I noticed something along part of the shoreline: frozen bubbles. The overnight temperature was cold enough to form a thin layer of ice along parts of the lake. Vermilion Lakes is also known for its lake vegetation that release gases that in turn get trapped under forming ice. I spotted this large bubble patch unlike any other I have seen before and made it the focal point of my image. Coupled with light beams galore, it was the perfect morning to start our day.

NS 1069, the Virginian Heritage Unit warms the bench while the 1068, the Erie Heritage Unit runs the bases in charge of train 17N (Conway, PA to Elkhart, IN, manifest) through downtown Corunna, Indiana on NS' ex-LS&MS/NYC/PC/CR Chicago Line.
The 1069's rear truck had set off the defect detector in Brimfield while serving as the lead unit of train 26W a few days prior, and it was eventually decided by all involved its trip was over.
Both the 1068 and 1069 are SD70ACe's and were built by EMD not far away in Muncie, Indiana for NS in May of 2012 as two of their original heritage units.
NS 8419 that's riding second out on 17N is a C40-8W and began life as CR 6230, built by GE for Conrail in June of 1994.
