skin d.e.e.p. - digital ephemeral epidermal patterns by //benitez_vogl - Margarita Benitez and Markus Vogl's latest investigation in 3D printed exoskeletal jewelry that results in temporary patterns on skin. After pressure is applied to the 3D printed prosthesis it leaves a pattern that resembles snake skin. It lasts for about 15 minutes. In the gallery setup it shows the documentation images as well as the sculptures.

The striking gothic arched William St section of this office was designed by colonial architect FDG Stanley and built in 1874 after an earlier wooden printing office had been demolished.

As the first purpose built government printery in Queensland it went on to function as the state printery for 120 years. And with the ongoing expansion a second building - complete with printer’s devil face on the keystone over the doorway – was built in 1910 on George St. There are also two printer’s devil gargoyles crouched on the parapet, one holding a G and the other a P.

The printer’s devil has its origins in the days when newspapers were seen as heresy for printing stuff that was not related to God. This particular building is rumoured to be haunted with the ghost of a young man who was caught up in and killed by the printing presses when he climbed in to see why one had stopped working.

In 1984 the government printing offices moved on and the 1874 building housed the Sciencentre for a brief period and in 1991 the Public Service Club moved in and remains today.

Starting with the screen I'm using, I had to clamp it down and then cover up the yellow parts of the screen that I didn't want printed with brown tape to stop the paint coming through.

I took some video editing classes a few years ago and this is the first time I've put what I've learnt into practice, I'd appreciate feedback on all aspects of the video.

The audio track used was produced by myself specifically for this video.

It prints upside down! You can officially print in space.

this block was made from vinyl wallpaper, PVA glue, sandpaper with some cutting into mountboard. I've not cleaned enough ink off really, so it's a bit blobby!
