X is for Xiphias - lino block print in violet water-based block printing ink on turquoise Japanese Obonai paper.
My workbench. This is where I mix up my ink and ink the block. I got these shelves knowing I needed them for "something", took a while but they fit in just right!
monoprinting / printmaking with gelli plate / day 2
i had trouble scanning this as i used neon pink acryla gouache with this and when scanning it reflects. i tried my best to match the final print with photoshop.
Am loving this new paper,it's not a perfect background for the prints but I like the little surprises it gives in odd spots. Linocut-detail.
I've been proofing these collagraphs I made out of wallpaper samples on a press the past two days during my lunch hour. Well actually the ones I printed yesterday, which was my first day at the Co-Op, didn't turn out anything like I thought they would. Today I am almost getting there. Tomorrow I have more than an hour and a half, so hopefully I'll get it right! The one on the left has the black ink that should have ended up on the one on the right. I have a lot to learn about printing on a press!
I'm trying my hand at using my new, yet slightly broken, risograph gr2710! Not bad for registration, yet I need to rethink color layers and density.
Hannah at work in her printmaking studio.
The Japanese tsunami disaster really struck a chord with my daughter, Hannah, who is a printmaker. She made a small bookmark-sized linoprint in response. She said that the home videos of the water washing away houses and cars and huge ships washing inland affected her greatly. Our hearts goes out to all the families trying to find each other.
She is selling this bookmark on etsy.com for $10 and donating $5 to the Red Cross Tsunami Relief for every bookmark she sells. Here is the link:

Update: As of the end of 2012, Hannah has sold over 90 bookmarks from her site on Etsy. She has raised $450 towards tsunami relief.
