Part of our assignment was to roam the halls of ACAD and shoot stuff demonstrating some principles of composition. I wanted to show some repeating elements here, and also the use of lines to direct your attention. Unfortunately, the lines lead your eye right out of the frame and not to something of interest.
Explore each of the formal compositional principles below. In some cases, several principles may be involved in the composition of the image. This is fine, but the principle you choose should be what you feel is the PREDOMINATE one in the look of the image. Submit one image for each principle below.
Use of asymmetrical balance. The balance is kept with both the cup and the feeling of empty space around it. Even empty space can be used to weight something down.

This is the second post in a 3-part series where we’ll look at the 12 Principles of Animation. Developed in the early years of Walt Disney animation as they were pioneering the young animation field. In Part 1, we looked at squash and stretch, anticipation, and staging.
In this post, we will be looking at animation processes and techniques that can be applied to your motion design work.
4. Straight Ahead Action and Pose to Pose
4.1 Straight Ahead Action
Straight ahead action and pose to pose are two approaches to animating in 2D animation. With straight-ahead action, the animator starts at the beginning of a scene knowing what actions must take place, and draws each frame sequentially.
This approach allows the animator to improvise as he goes along and will usually give your animation a bit of spontaneity.
In this scene from the animated film The Iron Giant, a straight-ahead action technique was used most to animate the jittery child (~31-second mark) and allows more of a free-flowing stream of consciousness feel to the shot.
4.2 Pose to Pose
Among the 12 principles on animation, Pose to pose animation is the most common approach used with modern animation using After Effects and 3D suites. tastyanimation.com/12-principles-of-animation-part-2-of-3/
i chose this picture to represent emphasis because the flowers are emphasized in the picture. the flowers are bright pink, while the water and lily pads are dark greyish/green. the flowers pop out of the picture because they are different than all the other colors in the picture.

1. What are the elements and principles used?
The elements and principles used include; Movement, color, shape, symmetrical balance, emphasis, variety and radial balance .
2. How did you take the photographs?
Since this is light graffiti and it has to be taken in a dark area, my ISO settings were a little higher to get the best (and most) color out of the glow sticks. I kept my shutter speed very slow (I believe that it was for 30 seconds) so that I could get a thick circle and my subject could move her hands all the way up.
3. What difficulties did you encounter?
When shooting this photograph, I didn't really encounter any issues as I had a plan as to what I wanted to achieve in this photograph, but I did find it hard for me (who is behind the subject) to make a perfect, symmetrical circle. The timing also had to be perfect.
4. Why is this best example?
This photo is the best example of Light Graffiti because of the shape and color created by the glow sticks as well as the way my subject looks (the arms in particular). The use of the elements and principles of design also helped to make this image a very successful one!
5. What else makes this image special?
I love how creative and unique this photograph turned out. I can definitely say that it is different from what some of my peers have done. I also love how artistic it is in the sense that it almost makes my subject look like a god of some sort.
6. How did your editing enhance this image?
By editing, I was able to get rid of some dust particles that showed up on my image as well as fix some other minor details. That includes my editing out an area where there was a path of light when there shouldn't have been one there. These are how my editing enhanced the image.

CommunityAction helps families stand on their feet by adopting the following principles: (a) a person in need best knows how he can fulfill his need; (b) people who have grown up poor don't know how to handle large sums of money even when they get it; (c) In this day and age, the proverb "Give a man a fish and he won't starve for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he won't starve for his entire life" is only true if we then sit with the man and counsel him on how to sell his fish! So financial counselling is an important aspect of our Action: Stand Up. The rickshaw puller was asked how he thought he could become self sufficient. He thought owning rickshaws he could rent out would be a good way. Actioneers then sat with him and thoroughly analysed his financial plan before buying him two rickshaws. The disabled rickshaw puller is now a happy rickshaw owner!
