The 12 principles were first introduced by Disney's animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas. These principles are essentially the building blocks of modern day animation and are still used today. All the twelve principles have a very important part in creating animation and all have their uses and strengths. Really good animation will utilize these twelve principles are use them to create good quality work. The 12 principles are the essentially the bread and butter of animating and anyone who wishes to take animating seriously, really needs to consider, study and understand these vital points.
The 12 principles are:
- Squash and Stretch
- Anticipation
- Staging
- Straight ahead action and pose to pose
- Follow through and overlapping action
- Slow in and slow out
- Arcs
- Secondary action
- Timing
- Exaggeration
- Solid Drawing
- Appeal

I chose this picture because the picture on the right is a higher contrast. When it has a higher contrast, the highlights become more extreme and that is what this picture represents.
I've developed and combined the selected designs (from the previous mark-making), organize the elements that create harmony with the principles of design onto an A3 size paper, which is divided into 3 sections using only 3 colours.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NEOkyfzqxg
Jim Hall, the great jazz improviser, presents a jazz guitar master class for all guitarists. This DVD is unique because it not only provides a detailed approach to jazz improvisation by demonstrating techniques and musical theory, but it also allows students to find their own musical voices by showing possibilities based on Hall's musical experiences.
This DVD is designed for the newcomer to jazz guitar. It covers the fundamentals and basic concepts essential for jazz improvisation. Hall's master class was taped in an informal setting, with conversations and performances by Hall and New York City jazz guitarist Satoshi Inoue. Topics covered include: approach to basic blues * discovering jazz guitar * sounds of jazz guitar * fingering and picking * dynamics * motive development * II-V-I progressions * finding your own voice.
