We have a tradition in Minnesota, each year daughters of dairy farmers compete to be the "Dairy Princess" of each county. All those Dairy Princesses then go into a competition to see who gets to be "Princess Kay of the Milky Way." The top princesses get their heads carved in a block of butter over the 10 days of the Minnesota State Fair. This is just a regular Dairy Princess.

While in LA I went back and took some more shots of the princess plant in Santa Monica, California.
It is a small tree in a large pot with branches and curled leaves and the weirdest flowers I've seen in a long time.

While we were riding our horses through the Green Swamp, my mom, my aunt and a friend of my aunts came out to just hang out, fix lunch, and they were gonna watch Ellie. So here they all are, keeping princess Ellie Happy, she loves that waggon, but does not like it to stop. She is way too spoiled.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: The biggest difference between my playline Belle and the earlier, limited edition one is the dress (there is also some very subtle, shimmery makeup on the collector doll). Honestly, and I'm not just saying this, I'm glad I didn't spend a small fortune on the earlier release because this outfit made the doll less expensive and I truthfully like it better. (I think all the crystals on the other one make it a tad tacky.) I was actually surprised by how nice this dress really is when it arrived--I was expecting more like a giant version of a later Mattel or Hasbro 12 inch Belle doll dress. Why I thought the dress would be a little cheaply made after seeing Tiana's in real life...I don't know. Belle's gown is more flexible, less stiff than Tiana's, which makes it easier to store when she's not wearing it. The dress is so beautiful...I don't know where to start. Let's take it from the top--I love the shoulder straps. They are perfect--there are skinny tank-like straps hidden inside the dress to keep it up when the tulle part falls gently down her arms. Not only is this movie accurate, but it reminds me of our little Musical Princess Belle's dress, similar construction, only this is even nicer (and WAY bigger). The rose in the middle of the tulle is just so perfect. The bodice is really detailed. There are two prints--The sides have a subtle, pixie dust pattern that reminds me of Mattel's early Disney Classics dolls, except this is a subtle gold foil, not raised. The center of the bodice has a bolder print with lovely scalloping, roses, and shapes similar to the fleur de lis. There is lovely gold trim, creating a very flattering waistline. Then the skirt--I do have to say that the way the upper layer of the skirt on the more expensive, collector Belle has a marginally more flattering silhouette than mine (but not worth double the price tag to me). This still sits really nice. There are more roses like the one at the top of the bodice. Then there's the under layer, which has more of that beautiful, subtle pixie dust print--so magical! Her shoes are simply to die for. So old fashioned, so elegant. You can't really see Belle's shoes in the movie, the gown is too long, but these would be perfect with her dress. The gloves are perfect too--just like the ones in the movie. They are a nice, pale yellow and a really good fabric (a lot more realistic and durable than the satin gauntlets one often sees on smaller fashion dolls). Her tiara is perfect--simple, elegant, just what I'd have accessorized it with. You can't really see it from this angle, but it has subtle designs in the sculpt--that shape similar to the fleur de lis, some scalloped lines...So lovely. The bobby pins are just meant to hold her bun. Her underwear are just like Tiana's, but yellow. And her stud earrings? The largest I've ever seen! Those are some big gems! This dress is perfect for a princess!
