I've had a severe case of cabin fever due to my recovery from surgery and I just had to get out and shoot something today. I ventured down town to the state capital grounds and found some lovely flowering trees. They are almost done though because the petals are really falling. There was also a pretty cool abstract fountain that I will post for you to see as well. It wasn't a big outing, but an outing that fulfilled my need to shoot something :)
It certainly looks it's best viewed large on black here B l a c k M a g i c

“Almost all words do have color and nothing is more
pleasant than to utter a pink word and see someone's eyes
light up and know it is a pink word for him or her too”
a fleeting thought emanating from the words of Milorad Krystanovich:
Like somebody who knows
a little about fading daylight,
underneath the branch I face
a thing of long ago —
the enigma of whiteness
surrounded by the late evening air.

For hot_tea. This is the pink hydrant she was so fond of. ^_^
This is also for amiko. We've been talking about a hydrant costume contest of some kind. We thought about launching one for Cinco de Mayo, BUT it seems a little late. Who knows. Maybe not. Please add a comment if you're interested in such a thing -- amiko's brilliant, very cool idea. :)
Let's see, I grabbed this real quickly after paying a bill at the local cable office. Life in a rural town. You can just drop off a check, people remember your name, ask how you are, & so forth.
OH...
I swear that I found this hydrant exactly as you see it here. So cool that someone would do this. Naturally, I had to share with the Birdsill Kindreds! ^_^
Thanks for the birthday wishes...I had a wonderful day with family and friends. Have an awesome week. (striking on black)

The saucer magnolias in DC are my favorite - even better than the cherry blossoms in my opinion. These are at the Enid A. Haupt Garden at the Smithsonian castle!
The pink dogwoods were late this year....maybe too much rain or something . Running late so just posted something to keep it going. Thanks for looking and have a nice evening.
This lily snuck up on me this morning. Out of nowhere there was this 3' stalk flowering.
Nice surprise :)

first time I have made a concerted effort to find one in the heather - incredibly hard to find! Thanks to Ben Andrew for suggesting the target species, and good luck with your quest for them.
Burnt Orchid "Late Form (Neotinea ustulata var. aestivalis) on the South Downs, South Downs National Park, East Sussex England
While not nearly as intense this season, this "Pink" specimen is possibly the most beautiful example of a Burnt Orchid that we've ever seen. With special thanks to our local friend for the heads up about this amazing, Pretty in Pink, Burnt Orchid
