The Desert Rose, (Adenium obesum), is a strong plant that prefers hot temperatures and dry soil. They do especially well in pots and containers indoors since conditions can be more closely monitored, making them good houseplants. There are many ways to plant desert roses, including starting from seed. You must work with the seeds indoors, though, since they are delicate and blow away with even the slightest breezes. “After that, a strange thing happened: Amy couldn't stop her expectations from rising. She imagined herself transformed and beautiful, like Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink, with her homemade dress and mysterious lace boots. She pictured her hair in an upsweep of loose curls. In the fantasy, her prom face looked like the one she only wore asleep, loose and relaxed. She imagined a photographer asking her to smile and, for the first time in her life, being able to do it.”

This image was captured on the roadside between Cunnamulla and Bollon in South West Queensland, Australia. Had many sightings of the Major while driving this stretch of road. This one is a beautiful female which is determined by its brownish eye.
Major Mitchell’s Pink Cockatoo (Lophochroa leadbeateri
Cacatuidae).
Named after one of Australia’s first explorers of the inland, the Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo is much less raucous than its Sulphur-crested cousin. Its plumage features delicate shades of pink as well as a colourful crest, making this species one of the more attractive cockatoos. It spends much of its day feeding on the ground with other cockatoos (though usually separate from them) or in trees or shrubs.
A denizen of the inland, Major Mitchell’s Cockatoos live in arid and semi-arid regions of Australia, where they generally inhabit wooded habitats. They require trees in their surroundings, because they lay their eggs on a bed of rotting wood at the bottom of a tree hollow, and they also often feed in trees. Like other species of cockatoos (and corellas), Major Mitchell’s Cockatoos often occur in flocks, but unlike the other species, these flocks are seldom large. (From Bird Life Australia)

Camellia japonica, known as common camellia or Japanese camellia, is one of the best known species of the genus Camellia. Sometimes called the Rose of winter, it belongs to the Theaceae family. It is the official state flower of Alabama. There are thousands of cultivars of C. japonica in cultivation, with many different colors and forms of flowers.

I had something else to post today for Mothers Day, but I've been working on this for awhile and finally got it to the point where my daughter (she's the pro when it comes to portraits and skin tones) loves it and finally so do I. When it comes to kids you wouldn't think getting a portrait right would be very hard. Well for me it is, at least getting it to the "look" I wanted.
I know most people think they got the best mom ever, well sorry it ain't so. Me and my three siblings have that honor. But I must admit I'm biased and hope you all are lucky enough to feel the same about your mom. Dad's are pretty great too, but mom's... well they're in a whole different universe.
Happy Mother's Day to all our mom's and little mom's to be.
... is my pink rose bush in the evening light yesterday ... happy Friday from a rainy, windy southern UK.
Time for a few holiday shots, seeing as how we won't be taking holidays for some time to come.
For the next week or so, I'm going to post a few shots from Havana and maybe elsewhere in Cuba. A wonderful country - a incredible mix of communism and capitalism, an eclectic clash of friendliness and filth.
I know nothing about cars but if Mr Google is correct, I think this is a 1952 Chevrolet Bel Air. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I've got that wrong.

As I tried to concentrate on taking this, I had to stop on a number of occasions so that other visitors to Monet's gardens could get past. A bit of a pain but I'm glad I persisted 😊
The shot is a mix of 4 multiple exposures twinned with a little bit of movement to give it that painterly feel.
Looking at the rest of my shots that I took, this is probably the most in-keeping and impressionistic...I hope Mr Monet would have approved.
