Although pink is one of the rare colors with no negative associations, it also is one of the least popular colors. According to surveys in Europe and the United States, pink was the favorite color of only two percent of respondents, compared with forty-five percent who chose blue. It was the least-favorite color of seventeen percent of respondents; the only color more disliked was brown, with twenty percent. There was a notable difference between men and women; three percent of women chose pink as their favorite color, compared with less than one percent of men. Many of the men surveyed were unable to even identify pink correctly, confusing it with mauve. Pink was also more popular with older people than younger; twenty-five percent of women under twenty-five called pink their least favorite color, compared with only eight percent of women over fifty. Twenty-nine percent of men under the age of twenty-five said pink was their least favorite color, compared with eight percent of men over fifty...

I took Ashley to feed the ducks at the golf course today, but they weren't cooperating at all. May have had a lot to do with the fact that they all had goslings and were afraid to come close. So we walked around and I just took picks of her instead. This was my favorite.

I decided to attack some action shots that were waiting for a seasonal break. Here is a mix of edits. I drove by the Longmont Memorial Rose Garden at least weekly but left it nearly too long. I tried a variable neutral density filter a couple of years ago but hated it. This recent day, I shot near sunset with a cloudy sky so the light would be sucked out of the daytime. The near-dusk allowed me to slow the shutter speed to be better able to perform some tricks during exposures. I use f/22 max aperture. Here is an interesting shot cranking the zoom but not throughout the entire range. The tele-zoom is nearly too long a zoom and could create confusing action. It requires the right balance. I long ago discovered that a tripod is entirely unnecessary for such shots and can be a hindrance. Here I set the the camera for 1second exposure. I already posted previous shots that were lucky ones. I needed two slices in Lightroom to drop into Photoshop to develop what might appear through the fog.

I made another stop at Longmont's Memorial Rose Garden for my experiments. This is the last of a more colorful fall than expected around here and was sponsored by the fossil-foolers. Like the fireworks and carny rides but I really need to slow the exposures down further so that I can manipulate my shots at a much more carefully and leisurely fashion. This belies how tough it was while over-exposure kept knocking me over the edge. The 200mm report of the EXIF only shows the start of cranking the zoom. At just over a second exposure, I assume that the zoom made it only part of the way to 70mm.
