The annual Perseid meteor shower was predicted to be most active in early hours of Aug 12th. It was hoped that this would be the best display for years. So off I went to a dark Somerset field between the hours of 1am and 3am. I saw three amazing meteor tails but sadly did not have the camera pointing in the right direction, The meteors were in all parts of the sky but only about 1 every 5 mins. The local bats took an interest in me and I wished that I had had a soft light with me. After 3am the dew point must have changed as I could not stop the lens misting over.

On the 4th & 5th October 2016, leading international thinkers in the areas of Data, Predictive Models, Technology and Decision making gathered at the RDS, Dublin, for Predict 2016. The speakers, many of whom I managed to photograph, discussed the latest progress in Predictive Modelling and its future – from Data to Software and Hardware technology, plus Predictive Modelling methods and the best examples of Data-driven Decision-making.
The organisers kindly invited me to the Predict event at the RDS. In case your are interested I used a Sony A7RM2 coupled with a Sony 29-135 full frame lens. The lens does attract a lot of attention which allows me to to have interesting interesting people … volunteers, students from Brazil, photographers etc.
I then asked the students to predict what the graph would look like not for depth, but for altitude. This modifies the equation because now d is a negative number (the "depth" above a point.)
We expected a decreasing linear graph from this equation.
This is problematic for a couple of reasons. The first is that it would imply that the pressure at some point would become zero, and then would start to become negative.)
In reality, actual data shows a graph with a curve
www.engineeringtoolbox.com/air-altitude-pressure-d_462.html
The pressure asymptotically approaches zero. This is because air doesn't have a constant density.
I know what you' re thinking. "Did he correctly predict the single costliest natural disaster in detail publishing epicenter six times or only five?"

I decided it was time for some exploring with my kids again, so we went off to see some World War II ruins in a field near Huddersfield. It had also been a POW camp for German soldiers who had been caputured. There would have been three guns here probably, and a predictor on a triangular mount, most likely a Vickers Predictor AA No 1. for high altitude bombers.

In today’s Healthcare climate, it is crucial to understand the evidence available to determine which characteristics prevent walking candidacy and prosthetic fitting criteria. There are many characteristics such as age, level, etiology, cognitive ability and pre-amputation characteristics which have been identified, and are backed by evidence to form population conclusions. This presentation will help provide the US and international prosthetic professional an understanding of evidence support regarding provision of prosthetic care, for all viable amputee candidates. The purpose of this symposium is to educate the clinician regarding existing high quality evidence to support prosthetic candidacy.

So this evening at 6.00pm on 21st May 2011, nothing happened, as predicted.
I was happily awaiting the 12 course meal to start at the surprise engagement party/banquet held at a Thai restaurant I randomly found on Thursday a few days ago. There were 30 of us all in that room. All of us arrived together. All of us departed together.
As expected, Judgement day / Doomsday did NOT happen. Didn’t feel any earthquakes [and boy are we used to those here in Taiwan, we get them regularly!] Nobody got swept away. Not even my pastor and his family [who was at the party/banquet tonight!]
These things can *never never never* be predicted. It says so in the bible. Even Jesus didn’t know. Only the Father, i.e. God. It’ll come when we all least expect it!
Yes Jesus will come again. Yes, there will be judgement. But it’s just not today, May 21st 2011. It’s coming soon. Just not today. People got it so wrong. So very wrong.
In the mean times, I’ll just enjoy my book “Left Behind”. It’s a novel [long book series] of the earth’s last days... Quite fitting really. lol.

Today I attended the Predict Conference 2015 at the RDS. It was my first opportunity to try the new Sony A7RM2 in a low light environment. My reasons for buying the A7RM2 was that it is supposed to work well in low light and also it can be set to silent mode. Today I did not use silent mode but I certainly was in a low light environment.
To be honest, I was disappointed. The camera did not work as well as I had expected but at this stage I do not know if the kit lens is responsible for my disappointment.
I've also encountered a problem with the camera because it stopped switching automatically between finder and monitor. It now gets stuck in finder mode. If I let it sit for a few minutes, then turn it off and on, it will function normally for a while and then the problem returns. This is really annoying.
I reset the camera to factory setting but the problem remains. I need to investigate further.
When I reset the camera I forgot that the date and time information would be set to a factory default date and time.
As predicted, the weather is somewhat colder and duller upon arrival at Gatwick.
Marketing space on Air Bridges was uncommon until the early 2000's when HSBC launched their campaign The World's Global Bank. HSBC bought the rights to air bridges across major localities in 81 countries and territories. Thus the vast majority of advertising on air bridges globally display HSBC advertising - both inside and out.
You can't help looking at the inside advertising. Well, what else is there to look at when waiting in the inevitable queue in the air bridge? (or, in this case, marching up the ramp and away from the aircraft).
