Hua Hin, Prachuab Khiri Khan, Thailand.
Hua Hin is one of eight districts (amphoe) of Prachuap Khiri Khan province in the northern part of the Malay Peninsula in Thailand. Its seat of government, also named Hua Hin, is a beach resort town.
Hua Hin district is in the middle of what the Thai government is promoting as the "Thai Riviera", the stretch of coastline between Phetchaburi in the north and Chumphon in the south. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hua_Hin_district
Out on the far horizon the sun starts to awake
With the faintest of bright golden glows
Hanging above streaks of indigo clouds
The dawn is about to explode.....Alison Gaff
Happy new week everyone!
Sergio and I plus a new Finnish friend had this pre-dawn beauty to ourselves. The snowstorm had slowed allowing a few shots, like this one of the bridge leading to the Emerald Lake Resort with the Cilantro Cafe lit up nicely. A favorite morning.
Thanks for taking a look and for any comments, faves and suggestions.
Enjoy this last Sunday of 2019! Wish the years weren't whizzing bye so fast....!
One of the first shots taken after arriving at 0630. This one with just a 3 stop graduated filter on the sky.
Technically it's shortly after sunrise... 😊
Arrived at the lakeside at predawn hour, enjoyed the ever changing colors amid the chilling air.
Many thanks to your visit and/or kind comments, always appreciated!!! Wishing you good weather and a great day ahead! 💕
It was predawn, on a late spring morning as i set out on my Saturday Morning Road Trip! I gased up and headed toward Ashhurst and as i did the sun broke through the clouids and this wonderful view of the manawatu gorge broke through
After the "Baroque" nature of the last few images, "Silence" offers both a simpler and a more inward mood. This image is meant to convey a sense of contemplation and a kind of waiting. For answers? Possibly. For some kind of change? Likely. In the last image on the right ..... waiting dissolutely for the subway train on a lonely platform ...
The text in this piece is used as a formal visual element only. It's a form of drawing and isn't intended to symbolize or suggest meaning, same as the Loquacious Oblivious Rex series..
All three of the main images were either taken at night or at pre-dawn as the sky just begins to show the first shift in the east from the absolute dark of night to the coming of light. While still deep in the dark, the image then hints in a whisper of the arrival of hope. A metaphor for our very dark times.

The predawn view from Nickerson beach near Boston. Sometimes the colors before dawn are what impresses me the most, so I try to arrive in good time. With a little bit of clouds, you never know what you're gonna get :)
Happy new week all!
As noted in the previous image after a storm i planned to capture the morning sunrise, a quick check early showed potential colour, a check of Photopills show the sun would rise close to Wharite peak, with it's huge TV tower. this and many other images can see viewed on this weeks Video, The Video is live and can be seen by the link below
PreDawn.

In ihrer Todesnot?
Wenn tausend, tausend Väter, Mütter, Bräute,
So glücklich vor dem Krieg,
Nun alle elend, alle arme Leute,
Wehklagten über mich?
Wenn Hunger, böse Seuch und ihre Nöten
Freund, Freund und Feind ins Grab
Versammelten, und mir zur Ehre krähten
Von einer Leich herab?
Was hülf mir Kron und Land und Gold und Ehre?
Die könnten mich nicht freun!
's ist leider Krieg – und ich begehre
Nicht schuld daran zu sein!

Final shot from my dawn series at the Hillarys boat harbour. The light was wonderful and the water so still. A beautiful morning.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Feliz Navidad, Joyeux Noël, Kwanzaa, God Jul, Froehliche Weihnachten, Solstice, etc. However you celebrate this wonderful time of year may it be special, filled with love, joy and laughter.
A blue hour shot of the Emerald Lake Lodge's Cilantro Cafe lit up nicely.
Thank you for brightening my days with your beautiful images, kind comments and valued friendships. You are the gift that keeps on giving. Much appreciated!
Sometimes the predawn is better for photography than the sunrise itself!
You can see some of the Boston Harbor Islands in the horizon.

Ice crystals cling to timber pilings frozen stiff in predawn light along the Lake Huron shore. Standing atop icy mounds, the ice cracked and moaned sending reverberating pings across the thin surface. Forester Park, Michigan.

It is very cold and calm with patches of mist in this pre-dawn light in the Mallee district of the State of Victoria, Australia.
There is no wind but overhead these unusual clouds are being pushed along at speed, from left to right by a seemingly strong and gusting wind, which is tearing and fraying the edges of these clouds.
Five days later I am in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia, 550 kilometres (340 miles) away as the crow flies, when I capture this unusual cloud formation which looked like a unicorn www.flickr.com/photos/184121594@N02/51745951211/
Here this cloud is likewise being torn and frayed by a strong wind whilst all is calm around me.
The next day the Flinders Ranges were visited by a dust storm with very strong, hot, gusting wind - a most unpleasant day.

Named for the Nadeshiko pink on the sands, and the clouds which resemble nothing so much as the Dianthus (Nadeshiko) flower.
Light meter still set on PanF ISO50, probably 4 times over ideal exposure once reciprocity failure was factored: still essentially dark at that time of morning, so didn’t twig to the crazy exposure until the third frame of the morning. Awesome film latitude.
Also interesting because of the visible pink sand: would’ve watched perhaps a dozen waves break over the sand during the exposure, which usually translates to the white haze of foam dominating the final image, but no, just the wet sand reflecting the predawn colours. An unexpected delight.
This was taken before the valley shot I posted yesterday. I was very glad of the positioning of those trees!
