From the looks of things, the old pole was hit and cracked at the lower part. Despite the broken pole, Slemco is actually one of the best companies in the state as far as upgrading it's grid and maintaining their poles. They also have the cheapest rates in the state.

The crossarm was replaced witha metal one but they kept the same old glass insulators.

Scene captured during an early-morning trip to the lakeside village of Durgerdam, just north of Amsterdam: powerlines in the morning fog.

The pole is so thin it has bent due to the wire on the left.

Powerlines at sunset

These used to run from Ville Platte, LA north to Boyce, LA until they were extended south toward Lafayette in the early 90's with the large steel poles already in my collection.
