Scene captured during an early-morning trip to the lakeside village of Durgerdam, just north of Amsterdam: powerlines in the morning fog.
This line must have been upgraded shortly before GSU was bought out by Entergy. The white insulators are the types that were being used at that time.
This is the second time this line is upgraded. It was upgraded in 1991, but was still using poles as crossarms. The poles were severely buckled and bent so about 4 years ago these were upgraded to almost all steel arms. It's interesting to drive down Interstate 49 because they come up next to the hwy and then turn like this and head back off.
GE and EMD engines bring a potash train through the Gary neighborhood of Duluth. Tall brown powerlines often dot the landscape of this region. Steelton Yard and the Wisconsin state border are up ahead.
Demco is the cooperative that services a territory between the Mississippi river and I-55 in LA. Unfortunatly this is the only Demco pole I found on my trip today
