Old Adirondack Power and Light double-circuit transmission line tower (possibly 34.5 kV design) in the city of Amsterdam, NY. View NW to substation from Vrooman Avenue at Hawk Street. Very large (and rare) double circuit pole. These are Entergy's lines connecting to LUS's power plant.

A switch between the two circuits.

This sunrise happened last month, before the deluge occurred. The Bay Trail along Steinberger Slough has to be one of my favorite places to get sunrise shots: it's in walking distance, there's the slough and San Francisco Bay, and there can be lots of wading birds getting their breakfast. Alas, for me and Jackie, the city is building up the levees to meet new code. They are laying down lots and lots of mud, so I don't think we'll be heading out here anytime soon.

Really wide crossarms on the LUS part.

Entergy Lines heading toward Breaux Bridge and Henderson LA with LUS on the right following.

This is the pole I uploaded the other day that a person had hit in the rain and LUS had to replace it in the rain. Here's a shot of it with the old pole. You can see the guy really smashed the hell out of the old one.

Always powerlines. But it takes a visitor to remind me that Europeans wisely place all powerlines undergound and are therefore not accustomed to weather and other related power outages. Thanks Gabi.
