The Klamath Falls Post Office was constructed in 1930-31 at a cost of $176,000. It was dedicated Oct. 21, 1931. It was originally hoped the building would double as a federal courthouse, although that never came to pass. Still, other agencies housed in the new building included the Bureau of Reclamation, the Army recruiting office, the county Extension agent and the state prohibition agent. When an addition to the building was proposed in 1960, there was concern over what to do about trees that had been planted on the site. A large pin oak was dug up and moved in April 1961 to the Boy Scout office in Kit Carson Park, where it is still growing. The addition to the post office was completed in 1964. This photo was not dated, but it was taken several years before the 1964 addition.

A piece of paradise on earth. A small terrace in one of the most gorgeous little bay of the Ionian sea; a picture post-card with the sea, the fishermen’s boats, the typical landscape full of green and white rocks that seems to fall down into the bleu sea, and in the middle the terrace, with the roof covered with a winding old grape!

Esplanade Avenue shows up clearly in the lower right section of this aerial photo taken in the early 1930s. Main Street angles from center to the lower left corner. The A Canal is seen looping around a new Klamath Union High School on the right edge of the photo. The Balsiger Ford Building, constructed in 1930 at the corner of Main and Esplanade and appearing near the center of this photo, has taken the place of the White Pelican Hotel, which was destroyed by fire in 1926. A footpath crosses a vacant lot at the corner of Main and Spring streets, where the Klamath Armory would soon appear. Lake Ewauna is seen in the upper left corner.

A grain threshing crew takes a break for a photo while working in a field where Hogback Mountain dominates the horizon. Judging from the angle of the mountain and a smaller hill in the background, it would appear this crew was working in a field near the north end of Washburn Way. The grain separator was manufactured by J.I. Case Co. of Racine, Wisc., but unfortunately none of the men were identified in this post card image. It looks like there might have been a dusting of snow on Hogback. That, and the jackets the men are wearing, suggest a date late in the harvest season. The hand-written number indicates the photo may have been taken by Maud Baldwin.
Post card stamped 1920. I like how it says lighthouse near Lakeside and does not even mention Marblehead. I guess in the early 1900's LakeSide Ohio was a hudge vacation area.

Some quick pictures of Yuri, just because she's so pretty and never fails to brighten up my mind. I did not have such a good day today >.<
I went to the custom office by train because I am sure that they have my Deconstruction view Eugenia... but, they were unfriendly and send me away because I did not have their official "we have mail for you" postcard. This is entirely ridiculous. I know that they have it, and I paid for Express shipping from the US just so that waiting for their silly post card takes as long as the entire shipment from the US to Germany!

Not to distract anyone from the breathtakingly beautiful and extremely rare view, basically "northward" from EAST ANACAPA ISLAND/Channel Islands National Park you can see the "ice plant" that we strove so difficulty that day to "eradicate"!
Although this "succulent" is very, VERY good for "soil erosion" the "downside" ( and why does there always have to be a "downside" to something that either "works", "tastes", and/or "feels" GOOD...) is that it "spreads like wildfire" and kills or takes over from all the "endemic (i.e. NATIVE) " plants...
If you would like more info on this on-going "project" or to be "re-directed" to more info on the "largest national park" in the lower United States please go to:
