My positioning for this shot, as you may have guessed from the title, was somewhat precarious. My tripod and I were perched on top of this MASSIVE, slick boulder resting along Raven Fork in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This amazing striated cascade was huge; each of the boulders you see in this shot are approximately car-sized or larger. The wide angle lens just doesn't always do justice towards capturing the immensity of objects when they are further out from the camera. Beneath me is the tumultuous water, and to my left (and down about 10 feet) is a very deep pool. I'm all for searching out the best position for the tripod and composition for the photo, but here the options were mostly limited by my location - thankfully my only option was a decent one, in my opinion! Recent rain made all these boulders very slick, also. Definitely an interesting position to be in!
Raven Fork is a large creek/stream/river that begins near Tricorner Knob on the AT and eventually flows down through the town of Cherokee, NC. Upstream from this location is backcountry site #47, while further downstream Enloe Creek enters Raven Fork and the two carve their way through a section known as 'The Gorges'. I'm trying to plan a trip exploring off-trail in this area for some not often seen shots. Backcountry site #47 is one of my favorites, if not my favorite, in the whole park. There are massive cascades/falls all through the river in the area. A brutal hike is required to get in. If you leave from Straight Fork Road, you have about 3 miles (not that long) but about 1800' up then another 1000' down. If you leave from Smokemont, it's about 8 or 9 miles including a steep climb up the Chasteen Creek Trail and down the Enloe Creek Trail. It's worth the effort though!

Andenes fyr (Andenes lighthouse) is a coastal lighthouse located at the northern end of the island of Andøya, in the village of Andenes. It was established in 1859, automated in 1978 and listed as a protected site in 1999. The lighthouse is managed by the nearby Andøy Museum, which offers guided tours during the summer season.

My wife's sister just bought a Canon EOS Kiss X2 (450D or Rebel Digital XSI) with double kit lens, CANON-EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS and Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS and just asked me to teach her how to use the camera. I've never used the Cannon DSLR before and don't know how to use it effectively. Anyway, I set the camera by using aperture priority and boost the ISO to 800 for the very poor light condition and shoot some shots to see the the color tone, noise and other details.
The above shot is the test result of a normal setting. Only resized for posting, no color, light or sharpness post processing.
How do you like the color tone, the detail and sharpness or any comments?

A sketch of the Jubilee Bridge in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire and all my own work! Well I did take the original photo and then used the Huawei photo editor on my phone to produce this rather appealing sketch effect of the bridge. And don’t be led to believe that the bridges name is regarding the recent Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, it is in fact to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887 about 135yrs earlier!
Jubilee Bridge, is an iron bridge costing £230 and was placed in position on 14 June, 1887 in time for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria eight days later. It was an immensely significant event for the village as, until then, the only access to the Lovers' Walks on the other bank of the River Derwent had been by ferry. As it was being erected there was a minor drama …….
“ While workmen were engaged in preparation for the erection of the new iron bridge, one of their number missed his foothold and fell into the river. The Derwent at this point is rather deep, but a boat was put off to the man's rescue, and he was lifted in and conveyed to the bank, not much worse for the immersion”.
Sometimes filming is precise work and filming takes place in any kind of positions and places,,, no office work.

And now for the rinse…
It was an absolute treat to watch a flock of some 30+ Sanderlings enjoying bath time as the small waves of Pensacola Bay rolled in just after sunrise. I’m not sure what the order represented, maybe family units, possibly some pre-conceived risk-to-reward, not too many in the water at one time for safety’s sake methodology but for some odd reason only two to three would bathe at a time. They would march out from the dry sand area about 4-5 feet, bend down with their beaks fully extended, allowing the wave to wash completely over them.
As soon as the wave passed, they would shake wildly, preening intentionally…like stinky parts…wing pits and personals…just in time to assume the position for the next wave. After 2-4 waves they would leap straight up in the air and fly back to the flock, quickly being replaced by a member of the posse.

Jupiter on July 20th. Seeing was above average with average transparency with a humid and hazy sky. The Great Red Spot (GRS) is shown crossing with a lot of turbulence following. The feature known as the "chimney" is shown to be open now. This feature is the bright broken area in the dark ring that surrounds the GRS. The "chimney" is located at the 1 O'clock position above the GRS. Image taken with ZWO ASI174MM camera and Meade 12inch LX200 scope.

Took the dogs and my camera with me this morning. Stop, sit, stay! Homer and Marge did well! I had seen these walking them and didn't want to walk twice on a day when we're likely to hit about 100.
Set in the final days before the fall of the Egyptian Regime, EDF Marines and Intelligence Agents conduct a raid on a UAPR safehouse in Cairo.
"Watch out for UAPR guards as we turn the corner!" said Agent Bryan over the radio as the convoy rolled through the crowded streets in their EDF pickups. A minute later the sound of AK gunfire and cracking glass rang out as the bullets bounced off their windshield. The agents opened their doors and returned fire quickly eliminating the lone guard. "Shit, everyone move in, move in now, they know we're here!" said Agent Stephen as he accelerated over the sidewalk to avoid the body. "Go, Go, Go!" said Agent Bryan as he ran up to the door with the marines. "Everyone in position? Right." He motioned to the marine across from him to make entry in 3... 2... 1...
The agents hoped to glean critical information on insurgency operations in Cairo and the eventual full UAPR assault on the city. However their efforts proved futile, as the intel recovered showed that the network of UAPR support in the city ran deeper than they thought. Cairo fell to the UAPR just seven days later.

So this scene has been in the works ever since the Sunset Over The Nile event in the World In Darkness group but I never got to finish it due to school. On summer break now, so I finally got a chance to finish it. Made the trucks first which were kind of inspired by Afghan police trucks that I has seen in recent pictures, then I knew I had to build a scene around them. It turned out a bit bigger than I thought it was going to be because all the filler parts originally intended for the periphery of the scene ended up looking too cool to cut out. XD
My sixth entry to the Iron Forge 2025! Here, I used two seed parts (mudguard that has only one wheel arch) to create the pockets.
I won't pretend to know a lot about pool, but I know the black ball should go in last, making that yellow ball a tricky shot.. hence the title!
I would have liked to build it out a bit more, but did not have enough of so many of the essential parts...
