Another favourite walk was along the footpath South from Swanage, taking in the Durlston Globe, Tilly Whim Caves and the lighthouse at Anvil Point. In the 1960s the fog horn was still in use. It was an eerie sound which left a deep impression on me.

No, this isn't the physical, geographical point where things freeze. But the temperature was 0 degrees in the bright sunrise.

It was a beautiful day - morning fog and drizzle turned into sunshine by noon.
Been dying to see this place, and on my way back to Los Angeles from Santa Cruz, I made a stop and couldn't believe how beautiful it was. It has a very unique environment, which makes it thrive with life and one of the only places in California with water as blue as it is.
On the way home from Glen Arbor, MI. We stopped in at Point Betsie lighthouse which is located just south of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This lighthouse was built in 1858 at a cost of $5000. It is used to mark the southern entrance to the Manitou Passage. The Coast Guard still maintains the light.
