One of the most popular and iconic scenes in Yellowstone, with the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River flowing thru the chasm it's water's created.
"Many people think that this was the spot where famous artist Thomas Moran painted to inspire Congress in 1872. Yellowstone Park photographer F. Jay Haynes thought the same thing. He mistakenly named the overlook in his 1890 guidebook and on his hand-colored postcards.
However, Moran's paintings were actually created at the north rim overlook named Moran Point by the first Hayden Survey in the 1870s. There is more confusion here - Moran Point is also called Lookout Point, Mount Lookout, Lookout Rock, and Prospect Point. On current day official park maps, it's called Lookout Point."

Regardless of how it was named this is still one of the finest views in the park. And many artist's paint and photographer's shoot from this ideal viewpoint.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Went out on this lovely winter evening ... feeling more like Spring with temperatures near 60 degrees F. Of course they are calling for potential measurable snow again by Friday here ... we'll see.
Been wanting to take some captures at the relatively new park along Middle River, called Wilson Point Park. Nice boardwalk along the river, with some neat structures around too. Had some fun with them here in the blue hour.
So this is the Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse (1875).
Located at Seal Rocks - just a little to the north of Sydney.
Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse stands on a dramatic headland east of Seal Rocks village. Completed in 1875, it is the first lighthouse designed by colonial architect James Barnet and one of only two towers in Australia with an external stairway.
It was originally built to guide ships along the rocky coastline to the north of Sydney, after a number of incidents, including the shipwrecking of the SS Catterthun and the SS Rainbow.
Below the lighthouse are the Lighthouse Keepers’ quarters and outbuildings that have been refurbished to offer holiday accommodation for visitors.

The sunrise was uneventful but this cloud bank lit up towards the south away from the sun. The wonderful sandstone rock formations on the cliffs at Potter Point are a great foreground.

Sunset at Road's End Point, just north of Lincoln City, Oregon. I didn't think I was going to get much of a sunset because of the clouds, but got some interesting streaks where the sunlight broke through.

Lizard Point (from Cornish an Lysardh, meaning 'the high court') in Cornwall is at the southern tip of the Lizard Peninsula. It is situated half-a-mile (800 m) south of Lizard village in the civil parish of Landewednack and about 11 miles (18 km) southeast of Helston.
Lizard Point is the most southerly point on mainland Great Britain at 49° 57' 30" N
……A look back at our previous Cornish trip, great to see the mist up the Camel Estuary clearing minute by minute, you can just make out a few boats moored there - amazing how quickly it cleared………..

You need to enlarge this photograph to get the full impact of the sun on the water. The rocks on the horizon are one of the reasons for the lighthouse at Eddystone Point. There has been no enhancing of the highlights here.
Not a great looking sunset , but it's always fun to visit this place , you can always walk around or get your knees wet while taking this shot!
