Point Wild, Elephant Island 2015.
It was here that Frank Wild, the forgotten hero of Shackleton’s 1915 expedition, survived in charge of 21 men on a diet of seal, penguin and seaweed. After his heroic exploit Shackleton returned to rescue the men over 120 days later.
We attempted a landing but it was too windy.

Old West Point Gates -- As you enter the cemetery grounds, you will pass through what is possibly a set of the original West Point gates. Inside them is the Old Cadet Chapel, built in 1837, an example of Greek Revival Architecture. It was previously located on the corner adjacent to the USMA Library across from the clock tower. When the new Cadet Chapel was completed overlooking the Plain in 1910, the Old Chapel was supposed to be demolished. Many graduates objected and organized a fund-raising effort to save it. Beginning in August 1910 it was moved and reconstructed stone by stone in its present location. A columbarium has been established underneath it.
Snow coming into north central Arizona at a place known as Sunset Point, which, like the famous Zabriski Point in Death Valley is not a point of land in the water, but an observation point with a fine view.

Needhams Point lighthouse is situated in the grounds of the Hilton Barbados hotel on the south-west coast of the island. It is the second oldest lighthouse in Barbados dating back to 1855. Located at the south end of Carlisle Bay, this octagonal lighthouse played an important role in guiding ships into this safe harbour. Unlike the other lighthouse in Barbados the Needhams Point lighthouse featured a stationary rather than rotating light. The lighthouse became neglected and for years was used as storage for the Hilton, and ran a serious risk of being destroyed. Not until the remodeling of the Hilton did the lighthouse escape this fate. It has been repaired and sits very close to the hotel, actually dwarfed by the hotel. But at least, it still stands.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources dedicated a half-mile trail loop at North Point State Park in honor of a former public servant and avid bicyclist, Steven L. Kreseski.
A native and resident of Baltimore City, Kreseski served three years as chief of staff for former Governor Robert Ehrlich Jr. and was his legislative director on Capitol Hill from 1995 to 2003. Kreseski passed away in 2015 at the age of 58 from pulmonary fibrosis, a hereditary lung disease.

Finally found some time to explore the new Greenway access right in the heart of the city. Though no wildlife was evident this windy afternoon, it was a great walk meandering along the Gordon River. Greenway, Naples, FL
