We are at 7000 feet and the Snake River is flowing below at an elevation of 1250. That's a deep canyon! At the base of the Hat Point Fire Lookout Tower which is still staffed.

Point Reyes National Seashore - a microclimate so distinct from the rest of nearby California that I really felt like I had somehow wandered onto the moors of Scotland.

Point Bonita Lighthouse is reached by a half mile trail that includes a 118 ft tunnel that was hand carved through hard rock. Two small bridges plus the newly rebuilt suspension bridge are also crossed before reaching the lighthouse. The tunnel to the lighthouse is open only during visiting hours: Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
