Doing what she made to do

It was a very slippery & rainy hike up the steep Neist Point Trail -- totally worth it to see the lighthouse as well as Kilt Rock & the waterfall along the way. About half of the tour group stayed on the bus because of the rain!

The largest town in West Marin, Point Reyes Station was established after the North Pacific Coast Railroad in 1874 for some reason not yet uncovered, moved past the town of Olema to drop its passengers off in the middle of nowhere. The area is a popular foodie spot for fresh local ingredients.

Dead Horse Point State Park, Utah

As I drove out the road that takes you to Dead Horse Point on this particular afternoon, I experienced a bit of everything, weather-wise... rain, sun, sleet, snow flurries. I was hoping the dramatic weather would make for some interesting photos, but when I got out to the park I found that visibility wasn't all that great. During one of the short periods that it cleared a bit, I got this photograph which I think captures not only the stormy atmospherics of that day but also the amazing "land-that-time-forgot" aspect of the view from Dead Horse Point.

Approximately halfway along Monk's road which leads to Charlesworth from the A624 in the high Peaks of Derbyshire one of the local residents has installed this large mirror to help them see the oncoming traffic, but it also makes an interesting view of the world at that point.

This is the entrance of the Hunters Point subway station. Midtown Manhattan skyline is off in the distance....

The Point Wilson Lighthouse at Port Townsend, Washington.

This lighthouse was built in 1914, and has served as an active aid to mariners ever since. Its lantern room houses a Fourth Order Fresnel lens.

Photo by Danny Wild | dannywild.com -- The Battle of Stony Point took place on July 16, 1779, during the American Revolutionary War. In a well-planned and executed nighttime attack, a highly trained select group of George Washington's Continental Army troops under the command of General "Mad Anthony" Wayne defeated British troops in quick and daring assault on their outpost in Stony Point, New York, approximately 30 miles north of New York City. The British suffered heavy losses in a battle that served as a huge victory in terms of morale for the Continental Army.
