I've had a macro lens on my "wish list" for ages and last week I was blessed with receiving a 60mm macro lens as a gift to add to my photography kit. I couldn't wait to try it out, so I've been out and about experimenting with some macro shots.
I love flowers and I love taking photos of flowers. This close up of a pink everlasting was taken during a visit to Kings Park in Perth. Every September, people flock to the park to see the wildflowers.
Incidentally, did you know that there's more than 12,000 species of wildflowers in Western Australia? And apparently a whopping 60% of West Aussie wildflowers can't be found anywhere else in the world, only in little old WA.
Taking macro shots certainly isn't easy. The lens itself isn't quick to focus, so you have to have patience. I'm going to need quite a bit of practise I think. But I was really happy with some of the shots I took - and this is one of my favourites.

Does Pink Panther impersonators exist?
Is there a Pink Panther impersonator out there? I have seen and heard Elvis Presley and the Beatles impersonators but never a Pink Panther impersonator! Have you?

I've been checking the Pink Dogwood every day waiting for it to open enough for the lens. It seemed very slow. A watched pot.....
Two different captures of flowers, done by the same lens. The tulip has very little editing, rose has some.
I like variety ... even when I capture simple flowers. Hope you enjoy both of them :)
The light is from a softbox behind the flower and the lighting in the middle of the flower probably from light bounded off from the lens.
