Sumatran Tiger at the Los Angeles Zoo. These tigers are the smallest tiger subspecies, though this one looked quite large and threatening! Unfortunately, Sumatran tigers are critically endangered.

Large, found along streams in forested hills and mountains. Dark purple with tiny silvery spots on head, back, and wings. Bill color varies with range: dark in central and eastern China and parts of mainland Southeast Asia, bright yellow in populations elsewhere. Frequently fans tail while standing on an exposed perch such as a waterside rock or overhanging branch. True to its name, it does whistle: a long piercing note that carries well over the sound of rushing water.

The second to last image from this evening at Cissbury ring, I was sat on the ground with my tripod on it`s lowest legs shooting across the wild flowers as a transatlantic flight passed by . No filters. I have been out with the camera a lot of late so have a ton of images to show .
Another overcast day in Hawaii (no big news here, really!) and I was driving from Honolulu towards the north shore of Oahu. I took Pali Highway and stopped briefly at the Nu'uanu Pali lookout to enjoy the view of the valley. Quite a historic site as this is where one of the bloodiest battles in Hawaiian history took place. An army of more than 10K warriors out of Island of Hawaii under Kamehalameha I conquered sequentially the islands of Maui and Molokai and this is the place where the battle for Oahu took place. Local warriors after losing the battle were pushed off the edge of the 300 meters high cliff. As I was reading the details of the battle on the sign, the fast moving clouds engulfed the mountain creating a very interesting view with the highway piercing through a misty mountain.

A winged warrior pierces the evening sky in the shadow of a distant mountain. Then, the sun is gone for the day and it is just before the blue hour. Colors begin to dance around the mountain top and reflect in Porpoise Bay. This transient moment is gone in about 20 minutes and replaced with the next step in the passing minutes.

a fairly young Lioness with a still unblemished face is quite nervous because a large nomad male Lion had crossed into the territory of its pride while the dominant male of the pride was not in the area.
The nomad had been calling during the night and he passed through our mobile tented camp just before sunrise.
The afternoon before we had seen an older Lioness moving away from the pride and her older cubs. Probably she wanted to divert the nomad ...

The sharp subjects are pins piercing a small piece of tin foil with sharp edges.
There are 2 light sources.....a subdued table lamp at 2 o'clock and a small LED torch placed quite far away at 4 o'clock.

Something a little more minimalist today. This was the morning view from our accommodation in Gotugjogv on Eysturoy in the Faroe Islands. That was about as much sunlight as we were going to get that day.
I will be back in two to three weeks as we are travelling to the east cost of Australia.

Each year, the Buffalo Botanical Gardens put on a nighttime light spectacular, creating otherworldly scenes by dropping wildly-colored lights on their already evocative plants. This creates a unique photographic opportunity!
