The "surprise activity" for the hens night is roller skating! I am absolutely hopeless - although do use my jerky movements on the rink to great advantage and pull out some robot dance moves... Di (dressed as a T-Bird) turns out to be an absolute wizard though, as does the bride to be. It's so much fun but far too hot, especially in all my heavy 50's attire. We all get a considerable "glow" on.

Weather is a great metaphor for life - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and there's nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella. ~Pepper Giardino
Watch Rob play in a squash tournament this morning - he wins the morning game and then his afternoon one too (but by then I'm sunning myself on the deck). It's a very exciting and close game - only ruined by a very annoying child jumping up and down the stairs right next to me.

Heading out to dinner with some friends from work to extend my 30th birthday celebrations! I'm sporting one of my birthday presents too - a beautiful cuff from Rob's Dad and stepmum.

Isabelle built a wire mesh frame for sifting out rocks. She's building a new garden in our backyard.
The stricken boat finally out of the river, after quite a bit of the adjacent part was disturbed so the boat could be dragged out sideways.
Hopefully when I get home from work tonight the Christmas Fairies will have dressed the tree for me!!!
8/8/13. Went out geocaching today--again (it's a monthlong daily challenge), and today's search took us into the former Fort Ord: oak savannah. Found two very fun caches. At one point as we were heading back to the car, I noticed a sluggish lizard in the duff; I poked it with my GPS antenna, and it clung on--then jumped onto my arm. When I flicked it off, it landed on Milo's back, eventually making its way to his butt, where he stayed awhile. Much more comfortable than scritchy oak leaves. Milo never had a clue. He was busy looking for squirrels, I expect.
