The calliope is the smallest of our hummingbirds. The bird next to this butterfly bush bloom shows just how little it is.
Male swallowtails gather to collect minerals in mud or puddles, hence the name, "puddling." Females also drink from puddles but they tend to be solitary.
West Texas lightning strike near Lamesa, Texas. This photo is currently in March edition "Outdoor Photographr" magazine. It was a finalist out of 21,000 photos in "Nature's Best" contest. Was the photo of the week on "Nature's Best" Website. It was featured on the "National Weather Channel". On Channel 11 weathercast in Lubbock, Tx. State Fair Of Texas winner. 1st Place -South Plains Fair (Lubbock). 2nd Place winner in 2012 IPA -International Photographers Association (over 15,000 entries from 103 countries). Featured in "Nature's Best- Power of Nature Image Hunters" slide show.

My December is on fire. I watch weather forecast everyday and as long as it is sunny the next day, I will drive to the mountains to photograph morning colors. I am so in love with nature and its "paintings". Lake Louise is one of my three favorite spots in Banff for winter shooting.
