This series was a personal project. I wanted to create a series using only one strobe and mix it with what natural light was available.

A Personal Project
At the start of this semester i got given a grid square in Stoke-On-Trent in which i could do a project on what ever i wanted, i could also change my mind, the square i had in the end was very empty just being green field, images can be seen at (on.fb.me/15muAVO),
I did enquire about changing my grid square to this one my house mate found this location on a walk and said it was very beautiful and interesting, i really wanted to take images of the location due to my heritage of my Nan and grandad AKA Pap were brought up on the boats and worked to supplying coal to factories and mainly because Pap recently passed away a couple of weeks before.
At the end of the semester i went to the location because i really wanted to take the images due to my feeling to the area, i told my nan about yeah i was taking images in stoke of the canal lovely place explained it and she told me a couple of storys about cruising up the potteries. A couple of weeks later when i go to see my nan she gets out some photos, which i normally look at when i go around to see if theres any more added or anything, she pulls out the photos which i looked at not just a week before and goes

I look in the background of the photo and was astonished just a week before i was at the same location.
It's brought a more close and an emotional feel to these pictures when I've been recently editing them.

Day 9, January 9th, 2021
Back when the pandemic first started, I signed up for Instacart grocery delivery and have used them ever since. There was a small lull in early December when the Covid numbers were really low that I went to HEB and did my own grocery shopping but it didn't last long... the Thanksgiving visits led to a new surge that hasn't gone back down. I'm a SUPER picky shopper, especially about my produce, and early on nearly every Instacart delivery yielded a disappointment in something. That's until we found Deondre in early June. I was lucky enough to get him twice within a three-week period and was so impressed with how efficient he was and how well he picked out produce for me that I asked him if there was a way to request him in the Instacart app. Nope. (Still wish they would add that feature!) But we exchanged phone numbers and he asked me to text him before I was going to place an order and he would try to grab it. You know what? It worked! We were able to have him do our shopping nearly every single time. We started chatting more and more over text; we learned he was attending college, we met his girlfriend, we met his puppy (which was a surprise for his girlfriend that I totally ruined and still feel terrible about!), and we became friends. We love Deondre and now consider him part of the family. He started a job in September which made his Instacart hours more limited and he lives in San Antonio but this sweet young man still shops for us when he has time. Deondre truly risks his life for us; no one call tell why Covid strikes some people so hard. I'm so glad he works in healthcare so he is already vaccinated. We are very grateful that he is part of our family and we will always always keep in touch with him and watch out for him (and Liz and Luna too!). I wish everyone had a Deondre in their lives!

I shot this photo of Jade a few months ago in downtown Tulsa, just got around to editing this personal project. Learning more about the different layer blending modes and using dodge and burn more to enhance. Just want to keep creating pictures that catch your eye and make you want to look and think. This also looks nice in just Black and White without the selective color. There was something about that brick sidewalk that reminded me of the yellow brick road, so I couldn't resist.
About the model: Jade Gotcher was born in Dallas, Texas and later raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jade has had her U.S. passport since she was 2 years old when she went with her Mom to Paris because her Mom modeled in the Haute Couture Fashion Shows. She grew up to become a professional high fashion model herself, modeling in New York, London, Dallas and of course Tulsa.
Day 19, January 19th, 2021
Tuesday was supposed to be back to school after a 4-day weekend for the kids. But they both were puking the night before so I kept them home to work remotely. Not sure why they got sick, but they were fine in the morning. The day was cold and rainy and depressing. I didn’t feel like taking any pictures at all. I let the dogs out in the afternoon through our bedroom door and noticed how the water on the patio was reflecting the tree in the yard. I like the abstract nature of reflections and thought this was a cool shot.
