This collapsing old farmhouse in Edwards, Ontario, still stands but barely. I was surprised to see it still up after having photographed it several years ago, in much the same condition.

This is one of my favorites from our annual trip out to Beavers Bend State Park. The water level was much higher than in recent years.

A small stream on Perseverance Trail.

I had the opportunity to hear both my girls perform a solo at tonight's concert. I am so proud of their talent, courage and perseverance.

Storbist facts: One flash with 2 blue gels for the backround (1/32 power), another flash with snoot on light stand 1,5 meter over the doll(1/128 power). Both flash triggered by Cactus V.4 triggers. Some flare texture for the backround.

The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.

The Perseverance Trail, which starts where today’s Basin Road ends, continues along the original route, which includes a cragged section called The Horn where there’s a steep drop-off down to the creek.

At the end of it is where Perseverance Trail begins, and this former rail line (named for the mine it once serviced) quickly climbs up above the Gold Creek valley. There’s plenty to see along the way, including old mine shafts that blow cool winds, and a stretch of trail where the mountain drops steeply away to Gold Creek.

Here the tower has been reworked. The buttresses are thinkened, and additional openwork has been added at the top. Looking at photo resources showed that the peaks over gothic arches tend to get darker over time (probably from soot) and so they have been repainted.

This picture was taken by the Mastcam-Z camera aboard Perseverance rover on sol 1268 (September 13th, 2024) at 12:40 pm.

This 22cm-wide rock could be magmatic. It looks like a gabbro.

Students across Bangladesh have joined in protests, echoing the demand for safe roads in parallel to those agitating in Dhaka with perseverance.

In Dhaka, students staged demonstrations since morning at different important intersections and areas in the city including Shahbagh, Science Laboratory, Farmgate, Mirpur, and Uttara, reports our staff correspondents visiting the spots.

The students continued agitation all day, while also controlling traffic movement and checking driving licence and other necessary documents of the drivers of the vehicles.

Perseverance pays off as the MNPAH with UP1943 that arrived at Fremont yesterday departed 27 hours later this afternoon, about the same time that the overcast skies broke up. The light nose paint makes up for the fact that the shot is backlit.

I adore snapdragons because they still stay around after the geese have gone

Conditions weren't good, a jumpy sky and tiny Mars at an angle where any heat from a neighbour's roof would also distort the image, but I was determined to 'persevere' and capture this image on the night that the Perseverance rover landed successfully on Mars.

This bird was one of about 50 trying to get the bread I was feeding them on the beach. It was his/her perseverance that won the day. While hovering above my head for about 8 full minutes, this one managed to get the most from me

The Skeen School, once educating children around the local area, continues to stand tall and proud. Within the confinements of academia, such academics once taught were arithmetic, reading and writing. Now [slowly] withering away at the edge of a wheat field, instead of providing adolescent moments to the youth, the former one-room school house serves its purpose of storing farming equipment.

Photo of the abandoned Skeen School House captured via Minolta MD Zoom Rokkor-X 24-50mm F/4 lens and the bracketing method of photography. Palouse Region within the Columbia Plateau Region. Whitman County, Washington. Early December 2017.
