"If at first you don't succeed, grow a longer neck"

A top-quality motivational poster, as relevent in today's board rooms and corporate hotels as it ever was. I'm sure Sir Alan would approve. (I'm a fighter, you see, and I gave it 130% today. Or something.)

Inspired by fd. Photo by me.

I am amazed at the perseverance of this squirrel.

Shot for Mission 24. The current mission is "Perseverance". Honestly I was stumped when I saw this mission. So I did a quick search on Quotations about Perseverance and I found one from Franklin D. Roosevelt.

"When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on."

NASA’s Mars 2020 Perseverance rover performed its first drive on Mars March 4, covering 21.3 feet (6.5 meters) across the Martian landscape. The drive served as a mobility test that marks just one of many milestones as team members check out and calibrate every system, subsystem, and instrument on Perseverance. Once the rover begins pursuing its science goals, regular commutes extending 656 feet (200 meters) or more are expected.

This image was captured while NASA’s Perseverance rover drove on Mars for the first time on March 4, 2021. One of Perseverance’s Hazard Avoidance Cameras (Hazcams) captured this image as the rover completed a short traverse and turn from its landing site in Jezero Crater.

This single tree at Lisbon Falls, in Lisbon Falls, ME, has withstood many floods over the years and the historic flooding we had here in Maine just before Christmas was no different. I’ve photographed this tree several times, but this one is my favorite with none of the rocks showing and a torrent of whitewater engulfing the tree. Glad to be back on IG, sorry for the hiatus!

I wish I could have seen this thistle plant in flower against this pink wall.

Despite the heat and lack of rain and severe lack of soil,

this plant is thriving, the sight of it gave me hope.

been trying real hard to set aside time to make new work, at least so i'll have something to work on in lightroom until the next time i go shooting, but more so keep up with the learning curve and get better and make new work-

on a completely unrelated note just in case you didn't know, the Boston Bruins are getting ready to Win the Stanley Cup for the first time since the year i was born- which is awesome I think- Go Bruins!!

it was midday, and the sun was high enough to sting but not burn. he leaned into the weight, his muscles straining against the resistance of steel and waste. the dumpster wasn’t just a job; it was a symbol of grit, of resilience. his cap turned backward, tattoos half-hidden, he pushed forward, step by step, carving a path against the ordinary. behind him, the lines of the fence rose clean and sharp, a backdrop of order against the chaos of labor. his struggle wasn’t monumental, but it was human, and in that, it was everything.

Il coraggio e la perseveranza possiedono un talismano magico di fronte al quale le difficoltà scompaiono e gli ostacoli svaniscono nel nulla.

Hound Point 01/07/2022

Found this little stream off Perseverance Trail in Juneau Alaska.

After a full day checking between 2 different den sites and sacrificing some iconic sunset images we were heading back to camp defeated when we finally found what we had been searching for sitting on the track...Striped Hyena! Shot at 1/6th of a second handheld @ ISO 5000. We hit the post a couple of times so I was very pleased to finally see 1 of these animals nevermind get a useable photograph! However if we had known what lay ahead on our trip ........

Every year someone puts a stick in the ice with a flag on it. This particular day it was really cold and windy. All I could see was this sticking out of the ice. Each day it faces the bitter cold and the elements of Mother Nature. I’m sure it has good days and bad days just like we do. But each day it’s still standing tall. At end of year it’s usually still there. It’s a symbol of strength that no matter what storm we face you just have to push through. Doesn’t matter who you are or what you are about. Just remember. There’s no giving up. You just have to keep on going.

This rose fought its way through all of the overgrown plants around it and struggled to reach the sun in our increasingly shady yard. It appeared in the fall (foliage across the street provided the background in this photo) and it's still hanging on through high winds and rain (that took all of the leaves off of the trees). Right now, it's the only color out there, and I cheer it on whenever I leave the house.

I'm curious to know if the old Cunningham House or this wonderful old tree stood first. Maybe the tree was planted after the house was built? Either way, I hope they both continue to stand proudly for many years to come. Located in Allamakee County, Iowa.

Vegetation growing from a rock. I like the idea that the plant actually cracked the rock in very Scottish fashion.

The Burmis Tree is said to be one of the most photographed trees in the world. This Limber Pine lost its needles in 1978, toppled by chinook winds in 1998 and vandalized in 2004. Yet still she poses for weary travelers who crosses her path on highway 3 to the town of Crowsnest Pass.

Large and lit sculpture greeting drivers to St. Thomas,

I'm not a fan of the herring gull. They are greedy, bullies and have no manners whatsoever. They have plenty of food along the coast and have no place in my garden.

You have got to admire their tenacity though!

HWW too.

Life's little surprises are what makes it great. We dont know what's going to happen the next day. It's worrying sometimes, but little by little we're all continuously progressing.

From the leafy cut tree, only its trunk remains, but despite the time that has passed, it still resists dying.

Del frondoso árbol cortado, sólo queda su tronco, pero a pesar del tiempo transcurrido todavía se resiste a morir.

It is so cold.

So long the winter.

Waiting.

Hoping.

A hint of warmth

Calls the beauty forth:

Too soon the answer?

I hold,

Steadfast,

Gentleness unyielding.

I will not fail.

I will not fall.

It is so long.

So cold the winter

'Perseverance', located on Mount Goliath (off the road to Mt Evans), a Bristlecone Pine endures some of the most severe weather imaginable and at an elevation of 11,633 feet above sea level. These amazing trees are over 1,000 years old. Shot 9/13/16 at 4:40pm.
