RYDER HENRY
Periphery (2010)
cardboard, sawdust, fibers, acetate, plexiglass, mirrors, cassette motors, enamel, and oil paintings
Ryder Henry enjoys crafting miniature buildings and spaceships out of found cardboard, plastic, and assorted electrical components. He works on a scale of 1: 213.333. This number is derived from standard 80” doorways being shrunk to a height of 3/8”. The volumes thus become less than one 9 millionth of the real world.
The scale is the foundation for his miniature city, 4 Lydia, which has appeared in numerous exhibitions. Ryder depicts the world of 4 Lydia through paintings which begin as still-life (direct observation of the model) and move towards landscape with life activities portrayed.
Ryder interposes models of real houses (places he has lived and places where friends live) among his imaginary buildings. Aside from being a valuable exercise in craft, this gives him a more accurate sense of the scale in which he works. Pittsburgh has been his home now for a few years.
I happened to get the most and the best photos of Periphery out of all other bands I shot that day, these photos deserve their own album. Sadly, their bassist, Nolly, did not make it to this show, he was still trapped in the UK. Periphery on the Summer Slaughter tour play at the house of blues in Hollywood on July 20th.

A courtyard towards the perimeter of the Ta Phrom temple / monastery comes alive with colour as the early morning sunlight radiates from the sand coloured floors.
The club was incredibly dark so I couldn't get many good photos and the crowd was crazy, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the technical prowess of Periphery. Here Misha Mansoor shows his chops.

67 new trees have been planted in November around the peripheries of the Four Acres Estate on Four Acres Lane,Clock Face Rd, Gartons Lane and Jubits Lane in South St Helens.Funded by ERDF Objective 1,The Northwest RDA through the Newlands Programme managed by The Forestry Commission,and Bold Ward Committee.This is a Green Streets Merseyside delivery by The Mersey Forest.Contract managed by TEP.Contractor Frankland Tree Services.Helena Housing assisted with the initial evaluation of the project and Chester Lane Centre kindly hosted consultation events.Faiths 4 Change carried out consultation for the project.
