I happened to get the most and the best photos of Periphery out of all other bands I shot that day, these photos deserve their own album. If ever there was a band that deserved a better place to play for this night, it is Periphery. The stage was almost non-existent and the lighting was horrible. There were times when you could not even see the band since the lighting was so uneven. My pictures reflect this. However, Periphery did not disappoint. They are technical wizards on their respective instruments. And they have fun on stage!
Si jamás fuera una banda que mereciera un mejor sitio para tocar, sería Periphery. Casi no existía algo que se llamaría un escenario y la iluminación era horrible. Había ocasiones en las que ni siquiera se podía ver la banda debido a las luces tan inconsistentes e irregulares. Mis fotos reflejan esto. No obstante, Periphery no me desilusionó. Todos los integrantes son magos técnicos en sus instrumentos respectivos. ¡Y se divierten en el escenario!

Periphery was formed by guitarist Misha Mansoor in 2005. He slowly gained a reputation on the internet, primarily via a regularly updated Soundclick account, Meshuggah and John Petrucci forums, and the sevenstring.org message boards. Before and during Periphery's tenure in the metal scene, Mansoor developed a reputation for doing his own audio production, the majority of which was performed with a home computer and a Pod XT during this period. Mansoor has continued to update his personal project, Bulb, which preceded Periphery, often transferring songs between the two projects. Mansoor continues to be involved in a number of other musical projects, including Haunted Shores with Mark Holcomb, Being (a space-prog metal outfit), and Of Man Not of Machine with Elliot Coleman (Sky Eats Airplane) and Holcomb

Fans of Periphery are no strangers to Mark Holcomb even before his recent recruitment to the band. He's done side projects with Misha Mansoor in Haunted Shores and have uploaded a number of guitar master classes on www.guitarmessenger.com.
He is also a teacher at Matt Halpern's BAND HAPPY, so if you're interested in learning a thing or two from him go to his profile page here.
He's certainly a great addition to the band, and i'm dying to listen to their new album!

Why so many flash power for a simple portrait? this was the setting for when i shot the band (periphery has 6 members) and since i took this in the building of the studio while they were recording their album i figured i couldn't waste a second of their time so i just moved my lights around without changing the power.

Northern Harrier | Hunting Technique
Smaller than the more common Red-tailed Hawk generally hunting from the periphery of woodlands, Northern Harriers, aka marsh hawk or ring-tailed hawk, prefer to fly low over open habitats, listening to prey activity below by twisting and turning abruptly over tangles of grasses and shrubs. Here, a male Harrier is seen flying over an open field into 50 km/h sustained wind gusting to nearly 100 km/h and from time to time touching down in search of small rodents, principally mice and voles. In addition to single action shots, some progressive composite images illustrating the Harrier’s sight and/or sound-based hunting strategy are provided throughout this photo album. According to “All About Birds”, Northern Harriers breed throughout Canada but generally do not winter north of the CAN-USA border. Granted, Kingston is on the northern fringe of the Harrier wintering range, however, the current mild winter and lack of snow in Southeastern Ontario may have influenced this bird’s innate desired to migrate south

It is still true that the center is supported by the periphery. All human economy is still land-based. To the extent that we must eat and drink and be clothed, sheltered, and warmed, we live from the land.
The idea that we have now progressed from a landbased economy to an economy based on information is a fantasy.
It is still true also that the people of the center believe that the people of the periphery will always supply their needs from the land and will always keep the land productive: There will always be an abundance of food, fiber, timber, and fuel.
This too is a fantasy.
It is not known but is simply taken for granted. As its power of attraction increases, the center becomes more ignorant of the periphery. And under the pervasive influence of the center, the economic landscapes of the periphery have fewer and fewer inhabitants who know them well and know how to care properly for them. Many rural areas are now populated mostly by urban people.
