Periphery was formed by guitarist Misha Mansoor in 2005. He slowly gained a reputation on the internet, primarily via a regularly updated Soundclick account, Meshuggah and John Petrucci forums, and the sevenstring.org message boards. Before and during Periphery's tenure in the metal scene, Mansoor developed a reputation for doing his own audio production, the majority of which was performed with a home computer and a Pod XT during this period. Mansoor has continued to update his personal project, Bulb, which preceded Periphery, often transferring songs between the two projects. Mansoor continues to be involved in a number of other musical projects, including Haunted Shores with Mark Holcomb, Being (a space-prog metal outfit), and Of Man Not of Machine with Elliot Coleman (Sky Eats Airplane) and Holcomb

Unfortunately, when used with the Rega armboard the rear stub of the LMF-2 extended slightly beyond the plinth periphery, precluding the use of the turntable lid. Rather than go to the trouble and cost of purchasing in a new 'custom' armboard with the mounting hole moved further forward on the mounting arc, the necessary clearance was achieved by mounting the lid hinges further back with 5 mm nylon stand-off spacers and longer screws.
If ever there was a band that deserved a better place to play for this night, it is Periphery. The stage was almost non-existent and the lighting was horrible. There were times when you could not even see the band since the lighting was so uneven. My pictures reflect this. However, Periphery did not disappoint. They are technical wizards on their respective instruments. And they have fun on stage!
Si jamás fuera una banda que mereciera un mejor sitio para tocar, sería Periphery. Casi no existía algo que se llamaría un escenario y la iluminación era horrible. Había ocasiones en las que ni siquiera se podía ver la banda debido a las luces tan inconsistentes e irregulares. Mis fotos reflejan esto. No obstante, Periphery no me desilusionó. Todos los integrantes son magos técnicos en sus instrumentos respectivos. ¡Y se divierten en el escenario!
In the urban periphery usually explored by the Spanish photographer, the temporal dimension seems to be jammed, almost piling up, and is replaced by an empty suspension that is typical of places in ruins, often fragments of a future so close that we could assume it to be a kind of archeology of the present.

I happened to get the most and the best photos of Periphery out of all other bands I shot that day, these photos deserve their own album. Sadly, their bassist, Nolly, did not make it to this show, he was still trapped in the UK. Periphery on the Summer Slaughter tour play at the house of blues in Hollywood on July 20th.
Located in the eastern periphery of modern Viareggio, the small site at San Rocchino was excavated in a series of campaigns between the mid 1960s and early 1970s. After evidence of occasional use between the Final Bronze Age and the Villanovan period (12th-mid 8th c. BCE), the site has produced evidence of two occupational sequences, the first from the late 8th to mid 5th c. BCE, the second from the late 4th to the 3rd/2nd c. BCE, when the site was destroyed by fire. The site sits on the edge of what was once a much larger coastal lagoon (what remains is today's lago di Massaciuccoli), built up on terraced fill starting in the 7th c. BCE. To the Archaic period, in the second half of the 6th c. BCE, can be dated four wooden huts and associated port infrastructure. The site has produced evidence of far-flung commercial contacts, including Aegean transport amphorae.

Ryder Henry enjoys crafting miniature buildings and spaceships out of found cardboard, plastic, and assorted electrical components. He works on a scale of 1: 213.333. This number is derived from standard 80” doorways being shrunk to a height of 3/8”. The volumes thus become less than one 9 millionth of the real world.
The scale is the foundation for his miniature city, 4 Lydia, which has appeared in numerous exhibitions. Ryder depicts the world of 4 Lydia through paintings which begin as still-life (direct observation of the model) and move towards landscape with life activities portrayed.
Ryder interposes models of real houses (places he has lived and places where friends live) among his imaginary buildings. Aside from being a valuable exercise in craft, this gives him a more accurate sense of the scale in which he works. Pittsburgh has been his home now for a few years.

It is still true that the center is supported by the periphery. All human economy is still land-based. To the extent that we must eat and drink and be clothed, sheltered, and warmed, we live from the land.
The idea that we have now progressed from a landbased economy to an economy based on information is a fantasy.
It is still true also that the people of the center believe that the people of the periphery will always supply their needs from the land and will always keep the land productive: There will always be an abundance of food, fiber, timber, and fuel.
This too is a fantasy.
It is not known but is simply taken for granted. As its power of attraction increases, the center becomes more ignorant of the periphery. And under the pervasive influence of the center, the economic landscapes of the periphery have fewer and fewer inhabitants who know them well and know how to care properly for them. Many rural areas are now populated mostly by urban people.
A courtyard towards the perimeter of the Ta Phrom temple / monastery comes alive with colour as the early morning sunlight radiates from the sand coloured floors.
