16.52: Imperfections
I inherited this bracelet from my mom. She bought it for herself and wore it often. It was purposefully made imperfectly and she loved that. She sought to see the beauty amidst the flaws and she showed love unconditionally - imperfections and all.

Well here goes nothing! I am finally sharing my favourite shot of 2015. A sprawling panorama of the Milkyway arching over a setting moon. This type of shot needs to be timed perfectly as there are very few nights of the year that it would be possible and I was so proud of myself when I managed to capture it! I really hope you enjoy it and it would make me so happy if this was shared, liked and commented on and even more so if a print was purchased! I personally think it would look AMAZING! nikon D750 and sigma 24-70mm 2.8
I find landscapes easiest to photograph. They don't run off, fly off, or get tired posing. And they sit perfectly still.

KCS1 (FP9A) followed by KCS3 (F9B) & KCS2 (FP9A) and their perfectly matching southern belle 12 car business train are Westbound atGalewood after wyeing the train at A-5 and headed back to Bensenville Yard.
Nothing more to say than this was beautiful, regardless of the wet and cloudy weather. As I hustled down from the Central Ave. overpass the train was coming to a stop for a red signal. I heard some chatter on the radio and realized if I was quick, I could beat it to Galewood for one more shot. Was really excited to catch it one last time.
Every once in a while I love to experiment with focus, such as at the Ballard Locks in Seattle Washington.
This is Giovanna - a ballet instructor from Italy. She and her student, Gabrielle, were kind enough to model for us at our studio. She is amazingly beautiful and talented.

I have always marveled at how perfectly straight the rows are in farm fields. I understand that in today's ag operations there are GPS guidance systems designed especially for tractors that keep the row as straight as possible, sometimes even having an auto steer feature. Fascinating. This field looks like it's ready for this year's crop to grow.
That's probably what this little Anole Lizard was thinking since it was perfectly camouflaged on this fence post. One of those hiding in plain sight instances.

A series of images taken at 10x magnification of citric acid crystals that I grew on a few microscope slides. It’s an easy process!
Just mix citric acid powder with equal parts isopropyl alcohol and distilled water, put on a plate of glass when dissolved and wait a few hours. The process works with other things too, including Epsom salts and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C).
Put a polarizing filter on a flashlight, shine that through the slide and place another polarizing filter in opposition on top of the slide – you’ll then see the crazy colours that result from cross-polarizing these biaxially birefringement little gems!
Shot with a @lumixcan S1R – my favourite camera ever. This was attached to a Novoflex tube lens and a Mitutoyo 10x microscope objective. If you’ve got a macro lens capable of 5x magnification you can achieve very similar results with a bit of cropping, or on a less-than-full-frame sensor.
This was attached to a Novoflex CASTEL-MICRO automated focusing rail, which allowed focus to be found very easily and focus stacking because it’s impossible to get the slide perfectly parallel to the focal plane of the camera without a microscope stand.
Even a single microscope slide could yield dozens of compositions, and no two crystals ever form the same way.
If you’d like to learn more about this technique, I’ll be adding it to my upcoming book on macro photography: skycrystals.ca/product/pre-order-macro-photography-the-un...
Excerpt from thefabulousgarden.com:
“Life on Display” is perfectly scaled replicas of southern Ontario homes and businesses that used to grace the grounds of Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village in Oshawa, Ontario, until it closed down in 2006. The little buildings went into storage in Oshawa, and were eventually purchased by the Niagara Parks Commission, who only started to display some of the pieces publicly earlier this year.
Only a portion of the original village is on display, grouped into five areas. As you enter there are a few grand Victorian style homes on pillars (the platforms of which are festively decked with greenery and Christmas balls), then a wonderful whimsical treehouse area, an area set aside just for a replica of the Parkwood Estate, a now empty annual flower bed with several stately homes, and a little miniature lake that is surrounded by cottages.
The little lake scene was truly charming with a small train runs around the pond.
The annual flower bed features several large homes, elevated on bricks so that you can see them above the plants during spring/summer. It felt a little barren on a cold day in December.
The grand Victorian style homes set up on pillars were amazing for their authentic details, such as the patterns worked into the roof shingles on this home.
The miniature version of Oshawa’s Parkwood Estate was set up in a way that really conveyed how grand of an estate it was with the live exactly-to-scale shrubs and “trees” bordering the side of the home.
The tree house area was the most fanciful; an entire little world of nature-inspired homes!
...Except the giant bank of fog over this bluff. It was weird. Turn 180 degrees and it was a sunny day. Also. If you want to find dust on your sensor, take a shot like this. If you want to see how ugly jpeg compression is, take a shot like this. But really this is one of my favorites I've taken recently.

iN*SPIRE BY THE SONG:
PERECTLY ALONE
K.FLAY
I'm making friends with the silence
I wanna see what the darkness knows
I'm sick of trying to fight it
And taping my eyelids closed
I still recall the sound of the screaming
I felt so at home, hyperventilating
It was my solace
Always thought that I was blind
'Til I opened my eyes
And then I was alone (da-da, da-da-da)
Perfectly alone
And then I was alone (da-da, da-da-da)
Perfectly, wonderfully, awfully, beautifully alone
I used to worship the chaos
Bowed to the power of chainsaws
Didn't need nothing from no god
I always carried my own cross
Writing and breaking my own laws
Sleeping in pools
Swimming in a cold sweat
Dreaming of rooms without any exit
So claustrophobic, didn't know it was a lie
'Til I opened my eyes
And then I was alone (da-da, da-da-da)
Perfectly alone
And then I was alone (da-da, da-da-da)
Perfectly, wonderfully, awfully, beautifully alone
Then I was alone
Perfectly alone
And then I was alone
Perfectly, wonderfully, awfully, finally alone
Here you can see an example of the extreme colors used in the hotel lobby which give it an almost heavenly feel. I’ve never seen such a colorful lobby, but I definitely like it. To complement the colors there are pictures of clouds hanging up on the wall making for a perfectly engineered utopia.
Fyero was perfectly posed in the window for a photo so I went and grabbed by camera but of course, as soon as I lined up the shot she decided it was time to venture away from the window.
That's okay, I still managed to get this shot, which wasn't what I'd originally wanted but I like it anyway.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.
